Not really, it's basically offering the same investment that many people are already doing - but enabling the investment community to do something about climate change.
I see your account is about a day old. Welcome to you-tube.
I don't go in for all this human caused global warming(A.G.W.) / climate change. Any company that wastes its resources on reducing CO2 & other green house gases is going to be a poorer performer.
Whether you "go in for" it or not, the scientific evidence is pretty definitive. Your point is interesting though - the purpose of this ET Index seems to aim at tackling companies' lack of incentive to reduce carbon emissions in the first place. By increasing the investment in companies according to their 'green' performance, this re-weighted index fund could theoretically favour companies traditionally though of as 'poorer performers'.
I agree the scientific evidence is pretty definitive. The evidence indicates that A.G.W. is very little to nonexistent. Don't take my word on this go & check out the facts for yourself.
A good start to this would be to do a search on Lord Christopher Monckton & to take his advise to not believe a word he says but to check out the facts for yourself.
Companies that are making concerted efforts to improve their GHG disclosure or cut their emissions are not necessarily thought of as "poor performers". Plus, if you consider which companies are most likely to suffer most in the coming years from a higher carbon price or government legislation to cut emissions - who's it going to be? those that do or don't have a "green performance"?
Nice except co2 emissions do not cause global warming, think more in lines with the sun.
