  • Even my Nokia N8 have zeiss lens !

  • Works of art these thing. These don't have any focus motors in them do they ?

  • @tcuk No they are all manual focus! -MZ

  • when will Zeiss step it up and offer more zeiss sony lens? What are they waiting for?

  • @whamsb They are two totally different divisions. Carl Zeiss makes it's own manual focus lenses for Canon/Nikon mount. Zeiss for Sony are lenses designed by Zeiss, but produced by Sony.

  • It is so nice to hear the word "Pentax" for once, not that I'll be buying any of these lenses...

  • Has anyone seen any reviews comparing the older Contax/ Yashica ZEISS lenses and the latest Canon/ Nikon fit versions?

    Now that would be interesting!

  • I have a nikon d80 .Does zeiss f2/100mm nikon- mount fit with my d80? Also what's the price of this lens?

  • When will these lenses be available in Sony A mount since Sony already offers several Zeiss lenses?

  • @onlysirdave There are no plans for this yet. -Mike Z

  • @2:48 he misspoke. Aperture range of both lenses is f/2.0 to f/22, not f/8

  • @Nic7320 yep noticed that too.. f/8 is fast, huh?

  • i have the zeiss 18mm f/3.5 its a superb lens its cheaper, lighter than the nikon 14-24 but optically its way better

  • @sharpanator The Zeiss 35mm is a great lens, but the Canon 35mm f/1.4L is a different animal.

Think of the Zeiss 35mm as a more exotic and higher quality version of the non-L EF 35mm f/2. The manual focusing ring is also a joy to use, buttery smooth with the perfect amount of resistance. -Mike Z

  • I don't see the point in Zeiss lenses unless you make money off them. I would have the 85mm f/1.4 and the 25mm f/2.8 as I love getting close.

  • Are these lenses better than the L lenses, for example the 85mm?

  • @Fulkeir yes

  • Are these lenses better than the L lenses?

  • I have the 21mm and 100mm makro... i cant wait to keep adding to my collection. these kill my L lenses

  • these are not Primes are they?

  • @alanbstard4 Yes these lenses are often refereed to as "primes" or "fixed" lenses. -Mike Z

  • @UniquePhotoInc thanks Mike

  • Retrofocus design was not first developed by Zeiss in 1960, but rather by Angenieux in 1953

  • those last lenses were so see-through! Lordy.

  • i ned my 21 mm f2,8

  • i neeeeeed the 25 mm f2.8

    ahh!

  • We plan to introduce the 2.8/25 lens in the ZE range during Q2 2010.

  • The 85 looks so open. Like 2 elements in 1 group. I have never seen anything like that.

  • I love these lenses. It is fantastic to have the aperture ring on the lens. I am said that practically all manufacturers abonded this design. I also love the lens made of metal, and the beautifully smooth focus ring. The only manual lens made of metal and with aperture ring that I have is Olympus OM 300mm f/4.5. I mean, this lens old, but it's such fun to use. Why did the manufacturers abandond the aparture ring design? It's beyond me... Kudos to Zeiss for the fine prime lenses!

  • Hum, you should try some of Pentax limited primes, there beautifully made !

  • I am the National Sales Manager for the Zeiss photo products in the Americas and the presenter in this video.

Regarding the absence of AF in our ZE and ZF lenses, as they say it takes two to tango. Incorporating this feature into the lens requires the permission of the camera manufacturer, which is why we can offer an autofocus lens in the ZA product range.

Re: the introduction of a ZF/ZE style lens in other lens mounts, this decision depends on customer demand and securing IP rights.
