This is the version of Don't Be Afraid that Final Fantasy VIII -should- have had. It captures Squall's attitude a little more accurately than the original, I think.

Plus, it would have made the original cooler, which is always a worthy goal.

Oh man, how generic is this? I mean, don't get me wrong - Don't Be Afraid was never my favourite battle theme, but they totally killed it with this :(

As regards FFVIII, it was too easy on subsequent playthroughs, and very tedious to start (FUCK FASTITOCALON-Fs REALLY), though by no means a bad game. Skilful junctioning breaks the game. Any initial challenge only came from me being 11-12 and lacking experience in RPGs. Even then, only Ultima and Omega Weapons were a real threat.

I am a fanboy of seven I do admit, 7 and 4 are my two fav ff games but like other people are saying the entire ff series is grand, There are a few games I didn't like *cough* x-2 *cough* twelve but that is my opinion.

I liked seven better than eight but eight was still a solid and great game, I would never cause a war over which was better because they were both fantastic games.

4. Rinoa's sorceress powers were only awaken when she was junction by Adel and when Ultimecia possessed her.

Here are some indications that ultimecia and rinoa are a different person.....

1.During the presentation of Sorceress Edea on Galbadia, Edea who believed to be possessed by Ultimecia tried to kill Rinoa by making her a food to iguions... If they are one then Ultimecia might have killed her past...

2. During their first meeting w/ Edea "possessed by Ultimecia" she did not mention anything that they might be related.

Eh, FF12 is probably my least favourite in the series in terms of personal appeal and even I wouldn't say it's an objectively bad game. Some of the things it did such as having a large open world, a massive political backdrop to the world (you know, showing the writers are using their brains) and the fllow of the battle system were pretty good. The problem for me was how unengaging the plot and characters were, it was without charm but I wouldn't say bad.

I liked FFVIII better as well, but that might be because I could actually play it; I got my disc of FFVII from a friend whose brother scratched it up really bad, thus rendering it unplayable. But now that the game has been released on the playstation store, I plan on getting it on my ps3 so I can finally play it through! 8D

And I never beat VIII because I let my friend borrow it and never got it back...but I got to disc 3, I believe.

But overall,

Final Fantasy 1 was the better one of them both (although Time Mages of FF5 is my favorite job), and this comes from someone who got into Final Fantasy games through FF7 ^^

Ya know what I gotta agree with a lot of what he said but I came in on 8 so naturaly its special to me flaws and all but I have to say he did exagerate A LOT during his review. However I'm no fan boy and if not for the fact that Squall is my favorite FF character and like I said 8 was my first FF it most likely wouldn't be my one of my favorites. But 7, wile I did like it a lot is over hiped.

Now FF4 that was my favorite hard as hell but pretty damn good.

Uh, when the hell did Square say she was? There's not a damn thing in th game to support the theory. Especially sinc Ultmeci not only doesn't recognise any of the main characters but actively tries to kill Rinoa repeatedly, which would destroy her too if they were the same person. It's just as much bullshit as the theory that Aeris can be revived through a hidden sidequest in FF7, nothing more.

Never mind the fact that those weapons are a brand and not her personal design.

It's called drawing a parallel, Ultimecia is the dark mirror of Rinoa, just as Sephiroth is such to Cloud and to a lesser extent Seifer was to Squall.

And yes it would. FF8's world shows that actions in the past will have effects on the present, otherwise nothing Ultimecia did in the past would matter for her. If Rinoa becomes Ultmecia, which makes no sense, then killing herself in the past removes her future.

I think this was completely butchered. FF8 wasn't meant to have music this hard. It does't fit the scene of the game of soldiers of garden trying to take down a sorceress with an almost military feel to the game. Most of the tone to FF8 was a calm and collective tone, yet had a sense of urgency when it was needed. Like Squall's character design and personality. Why not keep to the original theme instead of pleasing a newer audience with music thats all over the place?

i think it should im pretty sure Tsuyoshi Sekito worked on the music for the game and hes one of the Mages and Takeharu Ishimoto also worked on the soundtrack and does do a rock style like in Crisis Core tracks which arent all re-arangements of Uematsu-Sensei's tracks he only did about 10 or 11 and their just to appropriately invoke the memory of FF VII
