I was covering UTEP during this time but wasn't at every game as our paper came out every two weeks... I don't remember this happening but I certainly am not surprised by Lockhart's reaction. He soooo played on emotion and was quite a crowd favorite.
Anybody know what the officials decided to do on this one?? Eject several people, surely...
I was center court, Row 10 for this game, and here's what happened: BYU guard Scott Sinek, after giving Pony Goodwin "an earful," swung his elbow up and split Pony's lip! (You can see Goodwin telling the ref and pointing to his mouth in this video.) Pony retaliated by dropping him with one punch. Kent Lockhart saw what Sinek did; that's why he lost his mind and tried to fight the entire BYU bench. I wish the camera had stayed on the court instead of zooming in on Haskins!!!
I was there and saw it as well. i was watching Sinek jawing at Goodwin and suddenly Goodwin turned and whacked him. He went down. Then Kent went nuts.
I used to play VBL (Melbourne, Aust) about 10 years ago and he coached against us. Can't remember who he coached though. Kilsyth, Knox, someone like that.
I was there as well. That was best UTEP game I ever witnessed (and there were many). I saw Scott Sinek(sp?) walking behind Luster Goodwin, giving him an earful. It looks as if Goodwin just had enough and decked him. Then all mayhem ensued! Kent Lockhart was a friend. Had him for many art classes, and a really nice guy (at least off the court). Thanks for the post. If your out there Kent, hello.
hell yea!!! bring back this rivarly....

I was cheering for UTEP against Butler yesterday. They dominated the first half and fell apart. Bummer.
