He wasn't always deaf. He eventually lost his hearing. But yes, still amazing that he could compose and hear the music in his head even without hearing.
This piece is so simple and clean. No hiding, its what it is.Amazing how the right keys pressed at the right time with the right touch can transport you so far away.
words are not enough to express the beauty and the power of this piece of art. it literally transport you out of your body and to the deepest part of your soul. Amazing!!!!!!!!! Moonlight Sonata
I hate how anyone can record it and just claim the song as their own. Why can't you just leave your name off the CD and let the writer get all the credit. It's not like you get more then 20 dollars recording piano music that isn't your own.
possibly the greatest piece of music ever, am i right in thinking this is a solo piano? im not exactl versed in knowledge of classical music, but id like too
@Omfgwhtavid exactly. It annoys me to no end people that don't understand that there are other types of musical compositions other than the song which dominates pop culture today.
I just finished learning this masterpiece at home without a piano teacher. If you want to hear it ,click on my user id ,and give me your feedback.thanks
@Yams416 I knew somebody we all used to call "Yams"... Lol. Great nickname. And yes, very magical piece of work... Definitely my favorite Beethoven. It gives that very haunting "end of the story" feeling.
Horowitz at his purest.

A song is a song man. It's all music
Music is the power to emote and take you somewhere else.
It matters not if it's a sonata or a song. Fact is, its beautifully moving.

@Giblinono Well of course it's not a song, it can only be classed as a song if somebody is singing.
