  • in addition to kaye's marvelous performance, dont forget the fabulous songwriters including his wife, if i remember correctly.

  • ...didn't this use to be on BBC Radio 2? or was it 4?

  • @Jabbermouthrulz : It was on BBC Radio 2 when listeners would try to ask questions, and tough ones at that to try and 'Outfox the fox'.

  • I loved Danny Kaye, my kids love him, and one day, he will thrill my grandkids, too. Outfox the Fox :)

  • "Those that try to tangle with my daring do".

  • How I felt when I became the Gray Fox

  • OH MY DAYS QUALITY!! x

  • Oh yeah.

  • Hawkins! Get out of my clothes

  • There's also the flower version - They'll never outphlox the Phlox.

  • 4 people wound up at the angle that herring do.

  • 4 people tried to outfox the fox :P

  • 4 people had their asses kicked by the Black Fox.

  • My all time favorite ever!!!

I love Danny Kay - since decades.

    They never outfox the Fox.

  • you should have put the next few seconds so we could laugh that even though he had sung this song he isn't actualy the fox...=)))...i love this movie!

  • I think Christian Bale should try this in the next Batman movie. (After all, he did "The Newsies"...) XD

  • The Black Fox: So badass he's his OWN damn barbershop quartet

  • Did there always have to be little people in these musical numbers in the fifties?

  • @CarlosIsDown And in musical numbers in the seventies... ;-) ---> "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"

  • I'm suddenly seeing Ezio singing this.... -_-;;

  • he may be saying the so few people can outfox the fox but he's listing so much in a song no less so hi enemy's may remember his countless weakness

  • Comment removed

  • I have not heard this song in over forty five years. It was on the album Danny Kaye, For Children. My very first record. I am fifty two now.

  • Simply put: Best Danny Kaye movie ever. End of story.

  • Simply brilliant - great Errol Flynn parody, marvelous comedy, wonderful songs - as one of his biographers said: only Danny Kaye could do all the things he did in this movie. The man was amazing. ^_^

  • i want them to re-do this, but well, that way more people will know about it. I always feel sad when people are lost when I ask them "get it?"

  • Has sb the text?

    Please I need it!

    Thank you! :*

  • Dude. This movie was my life when i was a child.

  • Tottally agree with the thought about Jim Carry, the last good movie he did in my opinion was Bruce Almighty so it might be fun to see him take a crack at a role like these, even though I hold out hope that Christmas Carol will be a good change for him.

  • No I'm the fox! OuO not that it matters >.>

Yes this movie is the best ever I don't care who says

  • I need this fim. Can anyone help me? I

  • this song is gangsta as fuck

  • ownage vid

  • I can't stop singing this song. at work on the train even when someone's talking i start singing.

  • I could see Jim Carrey doing Danny Kaye-like films. (To all you Danny Kaye lovers, I'm not saying Jim is better than Danny.) But, instead of Jim being in all of the really crappy movies that he has been doing lately, he could follow Danny's example of the types of movies he'd be good in and showcasing his talents with.

  • I TOTALLY agree. :( he really is more tallented then the stupid movies hes doing.

  • I love Danny Kaye! This was the first movie I saw of him when I was a little girl and I fell in love with the kooky red head. I am really hoping they put all of his movies out on DVD soon. This movie and a star is born are my faves!

  • I HAVE TO SING ALONG, should be the national anthem :)

i would actualyl stand up and know all the words:)

  • Lets make a new country. United Fans of Kaye.

  • yes he is just great. if you like danny kaye go to: huilifoj he has over a hundred videos of danny kaye!!!

  • I can't believe how sad I am that when I first saw this I wondered "how many costumes does the guy have?!" and when the real Fox says "Hawkins how many times have I told you to stay out of my clothes?" rofl what kind of rebel band is this? :P

  • Danny Kaye was and will always be the greatest.

He and his wife Sylvia Fine must have been a riot to be around. She wrote all the crazy lyrics to all his songs.

  • Pure Genius! GO DANNY BOY! XXX

  • Foxtastic!

  • Danny Kaye is my hero! What a clown!

  • Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2!!!

  • But apparently not at spelling.

  • You'll never out fox the fox! You'll wind up at the angle that herring do.

  • bitch i am duh Foxx.

    everybody knows Foxx beats Fox.

  • Fantastic.

  • the only movie better than the Court Jester is Secret Life of Walter Mitty and he didnt even sing in that one (at least not much)!

    Danny Kaye rocks on!

  • I just love how genuine Danny Kaye is. Thanks for posting!

  • Man I loved him!! There hasn't been a comedian that has come close to his singing comical humor since!!!!

  • Ginger Power again a GINGER is the star

  • when i was small in the early fifties we had a record single of danny singing "the fox" but i only remember the gist of the song being the part that begins "whenever they try to find me, they find me where i am not...etc", none of that other showbizzy stuff, just a simple tune simply sung. my cuzzy & i played it over and over along with another of a country star singing a song called "hummingbird". under supervision my parents would put on a set of 78's containing the read out story of "bambi"!

  • They play the very beginning part on Chris Evan's Show on Radio 2 in the UK (at between 6pm and 7pm) on weekdays as part of a Q & A thing

  • Actually it starts at 5pm!

  • Danny Kaye was a GOOD friend of Alma Cogan, and a frequent guest at the numerous house parties given by Alma and her mother. Other close friends were Leonard Bernstein, Lionel Bart, Elizabeth Taylor, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis Jr, Noël Coward ...and Lennon & McCartney, of course. Alma was well-known for awhile as being a constant companion of, and the woman most likely to marry Brian Epstein (yes, he was *mostly* gay, but totally in love with Alma). She died of cancer a year before his accidental OD.

  • I loved Danny Kaye when I was a kid, but this... this just gives me the willies.

  • We've surely got trouble!

    Right here in River City!

  • You're wrong artboy1, he was an underrated doofus.

  • The man could sing, dance, and was a master of physical comedy. Yes, he was a doofus, but some of our best comedians have been unabashed hams. He also did a lot of work for charities throughout his life, including UNICEF. He had a huge number of loyal fans, and was by all accounts a genuinely nice person.

Overrated? Hardly. I don't get the creepy comments I've seen, unless people in here have some irrational fear of short people or campy comedy routines.

  • Totally in agreeance with YOU!!!

  • Danny Kaye was awesome. I enjoyed his movies so much as a child seeing them on late night tv, now as an adult I still enjoy the whimsy.

  • This looks like it was imagined as animation, and then someone said, "No, we can do that for real..."

  • Hmm. Swashbuckling. Comedy. Musical.

I know the person this movie was made for.

  • Yea! Danny Kaye!! LOL!!

  • Man, depictions of thuggery of today have too few midgets and too many shorties. I'd pit The Fox against Tupac any day. Dude, just look at that cape, Tupac didn't even wear a freakin' shirt! You'll never outfox The Fox! True. True.

  • "Man, depictions of thuggery of today have too few midgets and too many shorties."

That mad me laugh a lot.

  • i like all his movies.

  • Danny Kaye was the most talented wonderful man. There is no equal. A record was made of him telling children's stories and, fortunately, I was able to copy them on cassette tapes. I used these wonderful stories while I was teaching elementary school.

  • @phantomfan11 how lucky you are! ^^ Are those useable still? :) Should we - the others - listen to these, maybe? :)

  • @phantomfan11 I wish I had had teachers like you.

  • Danny Kaye rocks the Fox!

  • did ya know the was w2earing falsies under the tights

  • My new favourite song :D

  • How they never made THE COURT JESTER into a Broadway show, I have no idea ... it would be a spectacular hit and make tens of millions.

  • I agree! With some re-writing and editing it would make a wonderful stage production!!

  • yes but who could possibly play Danny Kayes role so well?

  • @nycdom4u2srv

Sounds like it needs to get a producer behind it. Think Kelsey Grammar would go for it?

  • an american petter sellers!

  • They'll never outfox the fox!

    I love this song.

  • love it!

  • What a great man!

  • wow love this one!

  • I love this song! This is my favorite song on the movie. =)

  • No I'm the Fox! Great flick for all ages. Danny Kaye was a great entertainer.

  • Hehe brilliant, I got a shock when the kids suddenly climbed off each others shoulders.

One other thing, am I wrong in saying than an 7th small one appears in the tree, making 8 including big fox?

  • Now borrowed (well, the first bit anyway) by Chris Evans for his Radio 2 show!

  • Which is what brought me here.

  • "Those that try to tangle with my Derring-Do

Wind up at the angle that herring do

They Hold their head like very dead herring do..."

    priceless!

  • oh yes

  • i love ya so much for this

and i love Danny Kaye, this movie and song

  • danny kaye is mint.. and court jester is simply brilliant

  • I LOVE Danny Kaye!
