Unhappiness and 'suffering' are as much part of our lives as happiness and wellbeing. You should appreciate both while they last and learn from them. Instead of trying to make yourself feel happy about your life, maybe try getting your life to make you happy. You will need to make some scary changes which you probably won't be prepared to make..that's why you listen to little Yongey.

I have a real Jaguar (S-Type, red with ivory coloured leather seats), and it is very beautiful. I also have insurance! Emptiness is real too when I open my mind to infinite bliss. The advantage of that is that infinite bliss needs no insurance. I did not strive either for my car or bliss, I simply chose what I wanted because I believe I had a sense of abundance of blessings even when I didn't have money, and a conviction that the universe is bountiful. Bliss came first, all else followed.

@DismayOfficial OK....Your mind is driving and guiding your life. If it likes the result you will feel great satisfaction, (happy) if it doesn't it will be disappointed. (unhappy) It's that simple.

Anybody that is looking for enlightentment is looking for a short cut to life and as a result will never find it. Yongey boy is telling you there is something wrong with you....and he's right!

@DismayOfficial You are right, meditation is a powerful tool to alter the mind. But that is not necesarily a positive thing. If you are not happy with your 'mundane' life, isn't it better to change your life to one that does make you happy rather than persuading your mind to feel happy with an unhappy life? That is what is going on here. This yongey character is showing you something most people learn very early in life in a real way. Be creative and you won't have time think about it! XOscar

@OscarTurner Oscar, your views could not be more incorrect. All things in life bring permanent happiness. You drink some beer, feel good for a while, then you feel bad. All happiness brought about by worldly things will end, and you will suffer again. Its a cycle of suffering. Meditation, and eventually enlightenment, brings permanent happiness--suffering ends. Which would you rather have?

I heard he was very shy & anxious of speaking in public when he was very young.He proves what emptiness and meditation can heal & change.Buddhist Geshes,I'll guess,teach to various groups,according to what they believe the level of the audience is.Would he speak in this same manner to others elsewhere in other countries I wonder?
