@ mishaparem: We obviously need to do something about the violence in Iran, however, what sense does it make to withdraw troops from Iraq, Iran's next door neighboor. Iraq, once control has been properly transfered over to the Iraqi's, makes the perfect staging point for Iran. Think about it, many of the Mujahideen I fought as a Marine in Iraq were coming directly from Syria and Iran, if you want to stamp out extremist violence and bigotry, it makes sense keeping troops in that region.
There isn't a set number of terrorists or extremists that you can kill and the whole issue will be settled. It doesn't work like that. You get involved in that area, that breeds more extremism and creates more terrorists.
People like that will always exist. But an individual is not effective without support. Example: John's family is killed by a Iranian terrorist in Nebraska, John wants revenge but can not aquire weapons, can not afford or arrange travel to Iran, has no military training, does not know which targets to select etc. Iran and other countries like it provide the training, cash, material and logistic support that allows terrorists to function and thrive. Remove these and the foot soldiers will falter.
Although I agree that protesters should not be shot, I also agree with ninja. Maybe if we weren't fighting for oil in Iraq or poppy fields in Afghanistan, then we would have the manpower and economy to settle this matter. But with those two wars still rolling, Obama failing to collect on Iraq withdrawal, North Korea playing mind games, and the effective colonization of Japan, we can't deal with another issue on our hands.

@ mishaparem: We obviously need to do something about the violence in Iran, however, what sense does it make to withdraw troops from Iraq, Iran's next door neighboor. Iraq, once control has been properly transfered over to the Iraqi's, makes the perfect staging point for Iran. Think about it, many of the Mujahideen I fought as a Marine in Iraq were coming directly from Syria and Iran, if you want to stamp out extremist violence and bigotry, it makes sense keeping troops in that region.

People like that will always exist. But an individual is not effective without support. Example: John's family is killed by a Iranian terrorist in Nebraska, John wants revenge but can not aquire weapons, can not afford or arrange travel to Iran, has no military training, does not know which targets to select etc. Iran and other countries like it provide the training, cash, material and logistic support that allows terrorists to function and thrive. Remove these and the foot soldiers will falter.

Although I agree that protesters should not be shot, I also agree with ninja. Maybe if we weren't fighting for oil in Iraq or poppy fields in Afghanistan, then we would have the manpower and economy to settle this matter. But with those two wars still rolling, Obama failing to collect on Iraq withdrawal, North Korea playing mind games, and the effective colonization of Japan, we can't deal with another issue on our hands.

I was a member of the armed forces in the United States and am confident no country on Earth can stand up to our military when killing is the objective.
