No disrespect to MechWarrior. The series is awesome and this absolutely phenominal OST would have never graced my ears..... but man i use to use the Mechwarrior 2 disk for the music for Tribes 1... Tribes 1 music was... OK... but man Mechwarrior 2 OST + Starsiege: Tribes... wouldnt trade it for anything
@xt3nd3dclipz I'm with you on that, dude. Tribes 1 and Mechwarrior 2 were my favorite games. Some missions I just wanted to play not cause they were fun, but because the music was so awesome.
Bucket List: Download and play MW2 again. Remember what it was like to be in junior high when the game came out, and remember how AWESOME the soundtrack was cranked way up, while we played this BADASS game and felt like kings, drinking dr pepper and skipping school. Fuck. If I tried to recreate that whole scenario again, it just wouldn't be the same. Enjoy your teen years! No matter how bad they might be, they aren't bad at all when you look back!!
@adood101 Each edition of the game has a different name for each track so there really is no official name. The names used here are from the Titanium edition.
@frogjedi4 Oh ok, interesting. For the record then, mine is the platinum version. I googled the MW2 soundtrack song list and wikipedia has a totally different one than mine as well. Haha, weird stuff.
MW2 had one of the best music/game pairings I've ever experienced. And I don't mean that the music was just good, but it created the PERFECT atmosphere for the game.
@DavidofThe Yeah I loved it when Steel Tranquility played as you were travelling through the wilderness on some godforsaken planet. If it hit a crescendo just as you were about to take on a couple of hulking, beweaponed mechs it really got the blood pumping!
Everytime I hear Mech Startup, it easily makes me remember the Instant Action matches on Davin, while I march on with my star of Mad Cats, against a star of Daishis, the buildings making LRM potshots quite impossible, but slugging in close-range with them was perfectly viable at the time, the addictive roaring of a pair of LRM 20's fired in groups.
Played this when I was 7. Now 19, currently hitting the same stuff in MW:4 Mercs, but nothing will beat the emotions in the MW 2 Soundtrack.
I'll give 4 some credit - the multiplayer wasn't bad. The canon slaughtering was unforgivable, however.
Really, the series peaked at MW2: Mercs. Here's hoping 3015 brings back the glory days - even the VA who did MW2's mech computer has expressed interest in reprising the role.
@Hiigaranwarrior159 The art was compiled from the Battletechmovie forums or from simply searching for large Battletech images in google images. The one at 6:03 and 7:44 are from books, the one at 8:05 from MW4: mercs, but the rest are fan made and I cannot take credit for them.
MW2 is one of my all time favs game not to mention this series.
MW3 was cool for the graphics and zoom aim (ctrl+mouse) and didn't mess up the formula too much.
I loved playing my MW2 disc on the CD player... always had to lower the volumen in case I wasn't able to skip track 1 fast enouch and would get the data static sound.
Ya! nothing beats my love for this game's soundtrack. (As far as game music goes)
Mechwarrior 2 was probably the best in the whole series the gameplay, the music, everything was great about it, now these new ones completely went out of bounds with everything.....but i seen this Mech5 trailer and maybe they will redeem themselves for what they did with Mech3 and Mech4
Actually "they" won't redeem themselves because the "they" you are referring to are Microprose and Microsoft and they aren't handling the development of the Mechwarrior reboot. Instead it's being done by Piranha for Smith and Tinker which was started by the guy that invented the Battletech universe.
Microsoft pretty much took over everything with 4 and completely butchered 4. Fortunatel Smith & Tinker (which was started by the guys that invented Battle Tech) has the series now.
Love these...listening to Steel Tranquility gives me goose-bumps because I always associate the song with a really difficult fight and the computer telling me "Critical Hit, Weapon Destroyed."
Steel Tranquility is unreal! Then followed by Haste Makes Waste which for me sticks in my mind most from the game, very melodic. Thanks for the Nostalgia :)
a timber wolf with like 16 tons of heat sinks and 10 er medium lasers was my favorite mech, id kill dire wolves and war hawks in like 5 seconds when i got in range
Finally got part of the game to work. Unfortunately the campaigns don't work. Just the skirmish missions. But at least I got to play it nonetheless =)
the problemw ith these games is that most modern computers cant use them, you have to have an older computer running on an old copy of windows 95 or 98 to even play these i try these games on m,y xp and it comes out looking like the shit a shit takes
Do you know how to get it to work for certain systems by any chance? I've found my disc Mechwarrior 2 31st Century Combat for DOS I think it is and whenever I run the game with Dosbox it says
"Cannot find CD." Or something similar. When I try to run it normally via the exe, it gets as far as the end of the first cutscene in the game and exits back to windows.
Steel Tranquility BGM for Clan Wolf mission Pyre Light. Damn it's been 7 years and I still remember this. Must get this game... it's calling me... must play MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat. *looks on ebay*
STEEL TRANQUILITY AWESOME! never knew the name hadnt heard it in years recognized right away cool. so many memorize. if they made another game it would sell like crazy. id buy it thats for sure.
This is one of those classic games that just needs to get re-released. No added effects or extra crap just take the best version and make it run on modern systems.
Haste makes waste has to be my favorite. running to destroy those solar panels then taking on that dropship. neverforget that. never got all those jets though.

Steel tranquility is tha best..I still remember the stage of this track:the first Jade Falcon's mission in the desert..alone in the desert with my Mad Dog..awesome!!
Yeah dude thats on Colmar haha first Clan Wolf mission it was something like Thunder or something for the first Falcon stage and I'm pretty sure you'd be in a Stormcrow
I still remember the stage for Steel Tranquility. It's a moon stage, and I'd always use a 50ton Nova with ER Med Lasers and jump jets, and fly forever because the gravity on this planet was low. Haste Makes Waste was the 2nd stage. I'd use a 75 ton Timberwolf (Mad Cat) and save the town from being destroyed, then intercept the 3 Kit Foxes.
Honestly I don't think I know of a better video game soundtrack than this one
