  • but its not true that you cant get freedom for free

  • This song should be played very loudly wherever the Occupy Wall Street (or wherever they're "occupying") bunch. Too many freeloaders out there who think the world owes them a living.

  • What future vision, and a Premonition of the new millennium ! This was released in 1976 !

The lyrics most certainly apply to the present state of economic downturns, and unbridled corporate Greed, like never before ! Rush are masters at weaving a seamless musical masterpiece, which flows and transitions perfectly throughout the entire composition.

Thanks so much for the great pictures and the easy to read text......Marvelous ! :-)

  • Happy Birthday Geddy Lee!!! <3

  • love it

  • A very appropriate song for Americans at this point in history. Rush has many anti establishment master pieces. Bastille day is killer...

  • thanks for postin

  • This song is kriptonite to socialists.

  • @artagus21 I don't know, I thought it would be kryptonite for wealthy business owners who do almost no work.

  • @CapitalistOverlord Well, Rush takes inspiration from Ayn Rand and all her work. Reading their lyrics with that in mind, you can clearly see the individualist and objectivist, thereby anti-goverment/anti-socialism, message they convey. Phrases such as "what you own is your own kingdom, what you do is your own glory", have more to do with concepts like private property and self-ownership, than they have to do with these mythical lazy-yet-successful business owners you mention.

  • @everlongtube Believe me, I understand this in its entirety. Peart, as all songwriters in the 80's tended to do, drew his inspiration from a vapid harpy to write some of his most popular works. My objection is simply built on the basis that he ignores the fact that socialist ideology puts those who produce, i.e., the laborers, in control over the means of production, which hitherto have been controlled by those who either do no work, or do the minimum amount of work necessary to survive.

  • @CapitalistOverlord saying that the laborers are the only ones responsible for the generation of wealth, or at least the most responsible for it, is quite shortsighted. Aside from that, the application of socialism is inmoral, for it requires the state to initiate the use of force upon individuals that cannot defend themselves from such attacks. I live in a country that applies such ideologies and I can tell you they give the state way too much power, destroying all economic growth and freedom.

  • The guys at the federal reserve need to hear this fucking song!

  • One of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard. Inspirational in a rational, objectivist sense. Neil Peart rules as a songwriter (as well as one of the greatest drummers of all time). Rush Rules! Period. Neil, if you read this, thanks for the inspiration.

  • AMAZING song one of my favorite rush tunes of all time

  • Such an AMAZING song!!! One of the best ever.

  • @coptersoisoi awesome man glad you liked it Imfao when i made this

  • RUSH---"SOMETHING FOR NOTHING"

  • Great job! It would have been nice to see pics from the time the album was put out in '76, nevertheless, greta job to an awesome tune

  • The boys seriously need to play this song live again! The last time I saw them play this was the "Hemispheres" tour.

  • @Catnip11147 True that man.

  • I saw this bandperform this song in 1975 in Waukegan's Twin Skate Ice Arena, worst venue and acoustics ever, but what a great set they played. This song transitions and the vocals, guitars, and drums just jump out at you all at once. I have always liked this song, a song about principles.
