  • :D I like Hawaii!!!:D yaaa

  • this is so awesome.i can't wait to go to hawaii.

  • Wow! What a magical day that must have been for all who shared it. Lived on the Big Island for seven years and miss scenes like that. It is truly beautiful year round, but does have it's social problems with a very vocal lower class who have a sense of entitlement mentality.

  • wow i would be in awe prob stop surfing and paddle farther out :P nice!!

  • What? No oil in the water? Well let's get some over there right away. Why should Hawaiins enjoy such beautty?

  • Look, ma, mammals big and small playing in the water!

  • i could imagine a japanese guy saying ( f*** you whale) lol

  • im guessing this surf spot is kona side wher at tho?

  • This is so heart-grabbingly beautiful. I haven't been to Hawaii in years and it has made my day to see this amazing slice of life you captured. Thanks for sharing!

  • amazing =)

  • Great video. What beach was that?

  • Pretty awesome, surfing in Southern California you can see porpoise and maybe dolphin which is great but this, wow

  • amazing

  • What a beautiful experience that must have been.

  • awesome - especially the chain of surfers who stopped just to admire those close whales!

Thank you so much for posting!

  • sorry to bum your trip, but the "chain of surfers" were watching for the next set ... breaching whales in kona are like lobster in maine...

  • that is beautiful. i'm going there soon.

  • You are lucky to go there

  • I Live & Love In Hilo. The Coolest Thing About Surfing When The Whales Are Breaching Is You Can FEEL Them Hitting The Water.

  • Looked like the whales were waving :)

  • The whales look playfull.

  • such a lovely animal we have to stop killing them

  • the coolest thank for sharing

  • they are soo beautiufl and smart!

SAD HOW JAPAN ARE KILLING THEM

  • the most beautiful video I ever saw!

OMG look at the surfer, how they reacted! Awesome - very touching!!!!

Thank you merry xmas and a happy new year to all!

  • Amazing~ Those whales will not lose to the surfer-boys ^^ :)

  • whales will straight show off for my grady white when we're out fishing.

as long as you stay at least a hundred yards away or so you generally have little to worry about.

of course, when you;re talking about an animal that's three times the weight of your 27' foot boat, you just never know.

    whales are smart as hell

they certainly do realize the shared enjoyment of both parties (the whales and people)

  • wow! great video man.

  • they're waving to you! deadly!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWEEEEESSSOOOOOME! We live in NZ and have followed whales in toga, raro and NZ, this is truly amazing!!! You guys are as lucky as!!! Kee livin' the dream-kia ora!!!

  • do u guys live there now wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is why I am moving back to Big Island!!! Man I miss it. Awesome video. I used to see whales that close over at Honolii, a truly amazing experience!!

  • just amazing.

  • That may honestly have been one of the coolest videos I've seen in recent memory..besides of course the "Afro Ninja" video. I'm moving to Kona in September to do all those cliche-ish things like fish, snorkel, hula, eat papaya, and surf and whale watch AT THE SAME TIME! If you dared someone to imagine that without having seen this video their heads would explode! And one more thing..is this one of those surf spots where the locals beat you up if you try to surf there? Where is this spot?

  • go to bali

  • one of the most beautiful scene i've ever seen in my life.

  • This has got to be the coolest video I've seen! What a day that had to have been! Doing something you love and have whales in the background as your surfing cheerleaders! Totally cool!!

  • Aurai!

Sweet dude. Truly AwEsOmE. U guys must've been blessed that day. :)

  • That was sooo cool!

  • Thats awesome. Thats the first time I ever saw that. Lucky timing.

  • Nice!

  • This happened to me last week, we paddled out to them and they went really close. ;P

  • im glad to live in Hawaii

  • well said..

  • amazing - how beautiful life on earth can be!

STOP WHALE HUNTING! STOP THIS SENSELLES MASSACRE!

  • Loved Loved Loved the video I live in Scotland but have been to Kona many times and it was fantastic to see such a wonderful view of the guys surfing with the Whales in the background, well done !!! x

  • (cont3) If you notice there was a third whale to the far left. Possibly the female OR another male waiting to challenge the winner. Nicely done and you are extremely fortunate to have caught all that on video so close to shore!I live in Puerto, Vallarta now and have been studying whales since I was a little girl. Our whales come here to do the same thing.

  • Thanks for the comments. Good info. I viewed your whale video from Puerto Vallarta. Very Good. Hope your enjoying the tropics in Mexico.

  • OMG ARE YOU CRAZYYYYYYYY ...i dnt get how ppl are swimming there

  • (cont.2)They actually will not eat the entire time they are there. Although they breach for all sorts of reasons: aggression, warning, calling others from miles away, showing off for females or simply playing, these whales were also accompanying the breaching with tail and pectoral slapping which are both aggressive and/or warning signals to others.

  • Hey, I don't know if anyone has posted anything about the behavior you got to witness. THought you would be interested to know. Most likely you captured 2 males being aggressive with one another. Probably fighting over a female. Yes. . . .that kind of behavior is species universal. (hahaha) Humpbacks go to Hawaii to mate and give birth.

  • lucky bunch...

  • I thought that was awsome, so beautiful wish I was there to see it...

  • what beach is this ? looks like most of the surfers were pretty amazed too~

  • radical

  • georgeous - and it's RIGHT there ! Why couldn't I have been born in Hawaii? Man ! I gotta flipping scrape the ice off my car for 5 months a year !

  • awsome dude!!! i might move to hawai woot cant wait till ill be there ull see me riding on whale hehe

  • Omg, I'm terrified of whales!! But this is awesome!

I'm going to Hawaii on 10-31-07 =] I'm soooo excited!!

  • Wow. This is why I love Hawaii. And mnydgs - pretty sure spinner dolphins aren't quite that big. These are whales.

  • very nice. Check my video out! ;-0

  • what a great moment in life....

  • i would have fucking shit myself from teretz in england

  • Thats Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! What a perfect/surreal day!

  • I left Hilo 13 years ago. What side of da Island is dat?

  • Kona side. It's really beautiful on the Hilo side.

  • My family and I are moving to the Big Island next week. My husband is an avid surfer and our 7-year old daughter loves the ocean and wants to be a vet. Thanks for the awesome footage, I'll share it with them!

  • You might be interested in watching "Surfing Kona" which plays on public access CH 53 on the Big Island. It airs on Fed @7:00AM & Fri @8:00 PM. Welcome to Hawaii. What part of the BI will you move to?

    Aloha,

    Gary

  • Nice video. Also see "Discover Kauai" on youtube. This video will show how Hawaii is being over built, over populated, too much traffic....You need to know.

  • my wish was to fly one day over Mount Everest with my kids - but after I saw your video, there is nothing else more I would like to show to my kids, as whales.

Fantastic video thank you very very much!

  • omg this is soo cool u are soo lucky i love marie bio!

  • maybe you didnt get my note. Awsome whale footage. But you didnt need to expose locations to sacred spots. Your obviously one of those who hav zero respect for the locals and the island. KOOK!

  • hey my names koa

  • beautiful...im going in 5 days.... imma wrestle a big ass shark and barbecue him and make some tacos outta that foo

  • Not sure when shark season is but you will be here at the height of whale season. I'm not sure how big you are but mako sharks are really big and mean. I wouldn't suggest wresling with a mako.

  • That was so amazing!!!

  • That video was soooo incredible!!! I was just at Kehena Beach & thrilled to see one little tail and to hear lots of wails...no pun intended. What part of Big Island was this filmed? Awsome!

  • I am moving to oahu at the end of the summer, this video makes me want to be there now!
