  • I'll never forget this film. It seemed at first that this family would be immune from persecution. But I always felt that, although they seemd protected by the walls of their compund, that Micole knew, eventually, that they would all be doomed. It was good at the end that they showed not only where the Bassanis lived, but also the Estate where Micole lived, and that despite the fact it was the Summer following their deporation, they showed the garden and the tennis court barren and deserted.

  • I saw the film years ago and could never forget this masterful "kel male rahamim" by Cantor Shalom Katz. Marvelous. I'm so glad I found it here.

  • @Lubana140

    yes, i love it too

  • If you are a survivor, or lost family, El Malei Rachamim go's right through your body and is very painful.

Shalom Katz did a beautiful job.

  • I come back to this film again and again. It is de Sica's last, and it is such a masterpiece. The purity of concept is wonderful--this world of civilized and decent people surrounded by savages who have gained the upper hand--the very people that civilization was constructed to keep in their holes. God bless the Jewish people and keep them safe from now until the end of time!

  • Grande Film, Grazie De Sica

  • What about the new nazis who are demolishing homes of 10s of thousands of palestinian women and children. Sniping them, destroying their homes while they still in them, leaving them without anything to die on the streets while being surrounded by military. Israel is today's Nazis. They learned everything from them and abandonded thier prophet Moses teachings and replaced it with zionism that leads them to domination as they dominated US media and congress.

  • @dionisio454 The Palestinians should try making peace with the Israelis instead of rocket and terrorist attacks. They think they can drive the Israelis out--it may take a century or two, but in the end they will win. So, they continue their war and the reap the fruits of that.

The Nazis murdered Jews because they were racists; the Israelis merely wage the war that Palestinians force upon them.

  • @dionisio454 Nazis murdered Jews because they were racist dogs; Israelis are merely fighting the war forced upon them by Palestinians who think that it my take a century or two but in the end they can nullified the existence of the State of Israel. Make peace with Israel and live in prosperous harmony with Israelis or continue to accept the suffering this war imposes on you.

  • @mc0558 ANYONE WHO HAS LIVED IN ISRAEL AND/ or lived with ashkenazi jews in any country of the world knows very well what do the think about blacks, africans, mizrachi and sefaradim jews. The israelis hate arabs independently of the arab country and is not only because of the wars! tHE ISRAELIS DON'T LIKE FALASHA JEWS FROM ETHIOPIA! The israelis inside israel even paint swastikas in other jews walls when they fight over some issue!! i have seen it with my eyes shmock!!! you are fucking naiv boy!

  • @dionisio454 Israelis are as stupid in this regard as everyone else.

  • @dionisio454 I know Israel very well. You overstate your case. There is their version of racism thet same as that which exists in the US or in Italy (extra communitari&north vs south), or France (Roma) or Russia (Africans). I could go on and on--it is an endemic human vice. What I will say is that there is more hostility towards Arabs today than there was 50 years ago: dispair that they will ever make peace and resentment for that. Young Israelis today have a lot to live for. So I don't agree!

  • @dionisio454 Palestinians aren't tattoed like animals conducted to slaughter-house, aren't piled up in trains that conduct them to death, aren't gased (men, women, children, old people, sick people, ...). You want to protect human rights? What about stoning in Saudi Arabia, what about Christian's slaughters in Nigeria, what about sexual tourism in Thailand, what about the Darfour's conflict? Is Israel the only responsible of all that? Grow up!

  • What do you mean "i want to protect human rights!!?? Don't you!!?? Eveytime israel faces criticism people like you like to accuse the shiit happening all over the world. Do you mean because of injustice in other countries is ok for israel to do what it does?! You want to excuse israel by showing other unjustices in other places!!?? ISRAEL IS AS WRONG AS ALL THE OTHER SHIT YOU MENTION!! oR MAYBE YOU MEANT THAT ISRAELIS CAN DO ANYTHING BECAUSE AFTER ALL IT HAPPENS ALL OVER?

  • You should read Avi Shlaim, Noam Chomsky, Ilan Pappe, Norman Finkelstein, Raoul Hilberg...and the list is long!! All of them corageous jewish scholars, teachers and worldwide respected professors to know why the jews are no better than the nazis Do you have intelectual corage, honesty and discipline to read those professors? or are you too naiv and biased with ready made opinions from what you hear from mamy and daddy and the CNN!? You have a lot to learn but probably you're a lost case

  • @dionisio454 First of all I'm French so I don't watch CNN, and my parents are dead, sorry. Then I have readen Finkelstein, Hilberg and so on... You may think I'm uneducated, retarded or narrow-minded if you want, but honestly I am not. I have never said that Israel was a perfect state, as I don't mean it at all. I 'm not supporting Lieberman or Netanyahou, I demand the freeze on new-settlement building in Cisjordania, I want the creation of a Palestinian State and above all thing, I WANT PEACE.

  • @LysFlower13 I do support Israel, and I too demand a freeze on new settlements. I believe it is in Israel's own interest to pursue a peace settlement based on the two state formula. However I feel that the precise form of that state at the periphery can be ironed out over time. I think also that Jew can live in Palestine the way Palestinians live in the Jewish homeland.

  • @mc0558 I totally agree with everything you said. It is comforting to see that there is finally someone who is trying to analyse objectively the situation and to depassionate the debate.

  • @dionisio454 But I think that it is not because a state does something wrong that every citizen of this country should be held responsible of that. For example, as a French people, I feel ashamed of Sarkozy's behavior toward Roma people. The same way, it is not because one Israelian says or does something reprehensible that you can blame all the Israelian people eveyrwhere. Among Israelian there are bad people and good people too, as well as in every people in the world.

  • @dionisio454 So I'm ok to discuss with you about the israeli-palestinian conflict, but if you end the conversation by saying at first that I am a lost case without any intellectual courage, I don't see how it is possible...

PS: just about what you said on "worldwide respected professors"... I think that the real intellectual courage is not to pay attention about the reputation of someone, but to listen to what he says and see if you agree or not. That is real intellectual courage to me.

  • @dionisio454 I am not insulting you or anything (so please don't say I am a lost case, I showed you respect in my 1st message). The fact is that I don't understand why people are so obsessed by Israel.I don't want to clear Israel of its faults by citing other examples worldwide, I just want to show that human rights is a problem everywhere in the world and not only because of jews. You can tell I am racist if you want to, but I speak arabian as well as hebrew, and I love both of those cultures.

  • @dionisio454 There is a noble tradition jewish scholarly tradition that is

cosmopolitanism, objective, liberal, contempuous of self-serving commitments. When you have a nation to protect and implacable enemies who won't make peace, your priorties are "reasons of state". Many Jewish scholars are the secular equivalents of rabbis who say Israel can exist until the Messiah comes. They resent Israel for not living by their rules. If it did it would cease to exist one way or another.

  • @dionisio454 I respect the noble tradition of cosmopolitan Jewish intellectuals who demand idealistic standards of behavour especially from the Jewish state. But I would say this: they do not have to deal with dirty matters of life, death and national survival. They do not deal with a hostile international community and embittered public opinion in Israel towards enemies who very likely will never make peace and foreigners who send aid to Arab fighters and harp and criticize Israeli fighters.

  • @LysFlower13 Not only that, but Israeli Palestinians actually do quite well. They are fully integrated into the economy, and because they are better chefs than Jews (I don't know why) they own a very high percentage of the restaurants. They have their own Party, full civil liberty and so that they will not be caught in a personal conflict exemption from military service. So Israel has some things they can be proud of.

  • where can i find this mouvie??????????

  • Amazon

  • Shalom Katz...tuching

  • Qualcuno saprebbe indicarmi come trovare il testo integrale del canto di questo video?

    Grazie infinite.

  • could someone please post this film?

  • Wonderful Film, Thanks...

    grazie infinite

  • hi

I dont know. I'm looking for the original myself.

    eitan

  • @eitantoon You can download this music on this site for 1€ : fnac.com (you have to search for "el male rahamim" and it is the first one on the list) (it is written that it's from "Savall" but you'll see that it is Shlomo Katz's version)

  • @eitantoon The recording this is from can be found on CD and iTunes - track 14 on the album 'Prima Voce: Legendary Cantors" - Track is El Moleh Rachamim sung by Shalom Katz. I have just uploaded it and you can see it on my channel.

  • The garden of the Finzi Continis is one of my favourite movies, and this music very moving... But where could I get a recording of this song?
