8800GT Issue Solved! Oblivion in glorious SLI!

@Mitko54682DS Probably Crysis due to the polygon count and the fact that they went crazy-go-nuts to produce THE most graphically intense game for DirectX 10. Oblivion came out before DX10 I think though it's been, what, four years according to when I posted the video?

@Mitko54682DS I think Crysis was more GPU than CPU oriented, not entirely sure though I think that's how it goes. Toms Hardware (as blatantly and sickeningly biased as they are) has GPU charts, look up the 8800 GT and a 6670 on that chart to see how they compare performance wise and then that should give you a general idea. I imagine offhand about the same, my 5770 is slightly more powerful than my 8800GT I used in this video.

instead of using the software's aa, why dont you use ntune and go to mangae 3d settings and change anistropic filtering and AA from aplication controled to i think hardware controlled, then you can select hdr and get high aa and af, try that and see what you get

Hmm. Nice but something isn't right...I get tons better FPS with a single 8800GT at 1680x1050 with max details. CPU is prolly your bottleneck. Im gonna go SLI later cant wait! You should BIOS mod them with higher clocks and more voltage. Its easy use Nibitor and nvFlash. Thanks for the videos.

I think the cpu is a bottleneck. I have dual 8800gt(s) but had to RMA both because they died at the same time. With a single 8600gt 256mb i get about 40fps average with no lag ever, but that's on a 790i ultra SLI board with 4gb of DDR3 1333@ 1855 w/ 1.95volts and a core 2 quad q6600 @ 3.825ghz.

Yeah I know, Vista is a pain. For my first build I got XP Home Edition SP2. Wrote the 25 code some where and hid it. Only to find out it was no longer there. But luckily I placed the sticker thing that comes along with it on the side of the case. Only to realize it was ripped off. So I m stuck with Vista at the moment, living in a family of 11 kinda guarantees things will always get ruined.

Hi man I am a proffesional crysis player and I wonder if u got sli working? I have 8800gt sli just as you but I get like 2 fps higher average, lower low fps and higher maximum fps. I also think that everything takes longer to load etc. What do you mean with UPC?

I have put "sli mode on" in the drivers, I have also typed "con_restricted 0", "r_multigpu 2" in crysis console.

Shall I check BIOS for sli confiuration with my motherboard? It is a p5n-t 780i, I have 4gb ddr2 and xp

i don't wish to frustrate you bro but it seems you are getting very low fps with the 8800GT in SLI mode. I cannot take that. I have 1 8800GT and I run Oblivion at 60ish minimum at 1284x1028 with everything on high. Whats the problem did u figure ? nice video btw.

you can enable aa and hdr if you have a 8800 series you turn hdr on in game leave aa off and in your forceware drivers turn it on to override all settings and set it to what you want that simple and you got nice hdr with aa i also recomend you google oblivion tweak guide

Hmmmm, I don't know, I checked it with the console command to display FPS on the Crysis demo with FRAPS on and then off, and it seems to be accurate. Used latest FRAPS. Anyway, the 8800gt solved my framerate problems after upgrading from a 7900gt.

USE HDR instead of AA. If you are running at high resolutions you dont need AA as much. Plus HDR looks awesome.

the reason why this is running slower is because some games run slower on sli than one card just like oblivion. If you played crysis on sli you would see difference but some games just do worst on sli.

i read some reviews about power supply possibly effecting frame rates due to lack of proper clean power going to the cards, might want to look into that, what kind of power supply do you have?

there is rly something wrong with your pc im having higher framerates with my 8800GTS 320MB running at 1440x900 with 4xAA 36-60fps a 8800GT should do better

I am enjoying your videos and congrats on the GT. I just ordered myself one. Since you play Oblivion most of the time, I would recommend a few mods. My favorite is a low-poly grass mod which reduces the polygons on the grass from 8 to two. There is no visual difference unless you are looking for it. That mod helps me get ten more frames at 1680x1050 with HDR.

with ATi tool or some other program you can enable AA and HDR in the same time.

Wow dude that blows my xfx 8800gtx blows the shit out of those two 8800gt's in sli...Everything turned all the way up HDR lighting and 8X AA and I still get about 65fps...I'm glad I went with the GTX!! With 8800gt's there is only a 30% increase in SLI.

UPC is a battery backup / surge protector. I fixed it by plugging my power strip directly in to the wall. So I'm going to eventually buy my own UPC as the one I was using was given to me by a friend in Orlando.

You've hopefully seen how the sun shines through clouds with awesome rays or even through a window? HDR adds those sort of light effects. AA (anti-aliasing) takes the foreground of a diagonal object (sword for example) and mixes it's colors with the background to make the diagonal line appear smoother.
