this watch is cheaply made, DO NOT BUY.. i have had mine less than a year and the black plastic piece that is around the glass is only held on by plastic bolts(the gray ones on top). then after that broke off the two bottom buttons broke off and then you have a sharp pin sticking out from the watch that makes it useless..

I have this watch and I like it a lot. G-Shocks have a reputation for quality and durability, but IMO, Ironman watches are more user-friendly and have better features, especially for runners, bikers, or swimmers.

I would like to hear the chime it makes. There is a timex ironman that makes a chime that sounds like the song "choo Choo Samba". I would like to know what type of watch that is.

nice review, wish you'd go over the chronograph a bit more though, as in how it relays to you the split times, etc

Great review of an awesome Timex Ironman watch! I have worn these watches over 20 years now. I am a serious runner and they are invaluable for that purpose and for everyday wear. My wife and I are both Ironman watch fans! They are so useful. The Countdown feature is great for timing parking meters so you don't get parking tickets! The stopwatch is so vitally important for running. And the durability, colors, styling, ease of use is all top notch! Got shiny black finish watch...very cool!

Hey great video! I have tons of very high end watches but cannt wear them for work. because I can beat them up. I have a G shocks and its a great watch but to heavy on my wrist. So a few weeks ago I was in the mall and saw the Timex Shock in JcPenny wow it was at a deal $45 bucks color was sweet also. super tough watch and duraable too

the first timex ironman watch i got was a gift and it last only two weeks on the job before it broke. and besides the bottons were so soft that your wrist movements will change the time. Nice watch but, Casio g-shock is the watch i wil take if i were going into war.

Timex are actually the best value for your money I can think about. They usually keep time better than G-shocks (except those with atomic time keeping), they are just as tough but way cheaper. But two points on the g-shock side: wider range covering all tastes and uses, solar/atomic features.

I was amazed how "cheap" they look but how actually tough and reliable they are. All Timex watches are actually worth their price.

is water resistent the same as water proof?

i dont really understand the difference because people say that if its water resistent it can only handle minor splash etc...

but i hear other people say water resisitent can work in the pool, or complete submersion..

can someone please distinguish water resisistant and water proof for me.

especially because for water resisitent watches, the timex labels them with particular depths..(100m, 300m, etc) so how could that mean 100m of splashing?

@laxdnumber3 it maeans that the watch is water resistant to that depth, if it was 100m depth, you could swim down 100 m

@laxdnumber3 Water resistant basically means: you can wash your hands with it, shower with it but it is not designed for prolonged immersion/exposure to water. The internal seal does not handle much more than the ambiant pressure.

Also the depths are just indications to the pressure they can resist to: 100m means 10bars, 300m: 30bars. It is all about the pressure. The pressure underwater can vary.

@bohemiazych Nowadays both are very reliable. Buy the one you feel more comfortable reading and using. I like digital for their many features I use like the timer, countdown etc...

I have also gotten as long as 6 years out of the CR2016 Battery this watch as well as nearly every Ironman watch uses.

I have 2 of the original 1986 Ironman watches still brand new, also the Indiglo version in black and silver, I also have this watch, been a really nice one, really like it alot. Great review.
