Actually, things are looking up. The league and the players' union came to an agreement on a new CBA last month, and they've got financial backing for the single-entity structure they want. All they need are the executives to put in place. From what I've read, all 16 currently-existing teams, plus expansion teams in New Orleans and Pittsburgh, will play a 16 or 18 game schedule next year. Keep your fingers crossed and go Rush!
