For a console game system it was one of the first. But the original Mechwarrior was on the PC for DOS back in 1989 based around a guy named Gideon Braver who formed the unit "Blazing Aces"... have to say I prefered the PC version. Crescent Hawks Inception, and Crescent Hawks Revenge were strat games based around Jason Youngblood.

Thats not correct. The start was at the PC, but are there are nearly no videos availible online. Mechwarrior 1 was released 1989 for DOS.

Edit: There also have been to games called Battletech: Crescent Hawk or something likt this. Theese were even earlier than Mechwarrior 1 i think.

Holy, crap!

The first MW simulator I played was MW2. I'd always wondered what the original looked like. At least they were decent enough to use the SNES as a starting point rather than the original NES. That would've been sad. Although, I must say, the music almost sounds like it was coming out of an NES. I guess they didn't spend much money there.

You're a youngin. I prefered 3. 4 just didn't add anything, and they butchered the Mechlab system. The graphics were scarcely better, and they just made some silly decisions. Like that the arms don't actually move when you aim, they removed the mouse shooting system (the one with the cross-hair and the gun movement, rather than the entire torso movement thing in MW4), the different Radar display.

Mercenaries wasn't bad, but I think that they really took a backwards step with 4.

3 was great but tough for me. with the joystick in 4's u oculd rotate the weapons my dad did it all the time u just keep it straight up and rotate it instread of pushin Fwwd and stuff
