Especially things like Kuro-rin or Kuro-chan. -rin is the suffix used for a lover, and chan is the suffix used for a girl or young boy xD

And BTW o,..,o "Fay" would be pronounced like "day." His name is romanized as either "Fai" (most common) or "Fye"

@BloodPearlPrincess The confusion with Fai/Fye/Fay is that CLAMP officially spelled it Fay in English, so it’s technically canon. The direct romanji would be Fai, not Fye or Fay; there are only 5 vowel sounds in Japanese and ‘y’ is not one of them. The published manga in English uses Fai, but on the internet it’s a tossup.

Also, tan/min/etc are all suffixes teenage girls give each other to sound cute. It’s actually worse than just saying chan as a child’s suffix.

@BloodPearlPrincess Actually I read somewhere that CLAMP was pretty heavily involved with the first part of the first season of the anime and they were the ones who chose the spelling 'FAY' for the intermission character page with Fay on it, so CLAMP chose that romanized spelling of his name.

Also I don't think -rin is the suffix for a lover-- it's kind of like adding a 'y' (or 'ie') to the end of the name, like calling him Blacky. In Gravitation, Yuki Eiri calls his sister 'Mika-rin'
