Octane rating in Australia and Europe is based on RON unlike the US which rates it on the mean of the RON and MON. So the 98 octane is like 93 octane premium gas.
I'm jealous, apparently you can get 98 octane pretty much anywhere in Australia, where as here in the U.S. the best you'll see is 93 octane without using additives or going to E-85 / race gas. I'm guessing the compression ratio on this motor is like 13 to 1....
My little A-BODY with my 8-3/4 489 case and 390 gears some 10.5 slicks and a 727 torqueflite and a cage and some chassis connectors hmmmm this would rock the house .
I'm wondering about how much a 410 cubic inch engine would cost. I'm not wanting 600hp... I was thinking 500 would be fine. Possibly not a 410, but maybe a 408 or 402.
Well, that depends on several things. Are you going fuel injection or a carburetor? You will easily achieve over 400 HP.
Mine is running 10.5/1 compression. I have not had it dynoed as I need to find a dyno for 4WD. My ECM is also not working properly and I need to get it replaced.

Im curious what RPM is safe with this engine.
Are you running forged or cast internals?
And are the heads fully ported?

How much would this cost me?

You mean how much would it cost to keep putting octane boost in your fuel?
I can't imagine putting fuel additives in a daily driver that may get 15 mpg if your lucky.
These engines are great, but most people need one that can run on pump gas. Where do you go to get 98 octane at the pump?
I have a 408 that I used 93 octane in.

99% of servos in Australia have 98 octane and better.
