  • Alexander wasn't mentioned in the quran, it's a misinterpritation, because Zul Qurnain (the one mentioned) was living in the times of Ibrahim A.S. Zul Qurnain was a great king of persia who was known by the name Cyrus the great.. Zul Qurnain was Cyrus the great NOT Alexander!!

  • you have got to be kidding. Cyrus a contemporary of ABRAHAM? forget the fact that there's about 1800 years separating them, what evidence is there to support that Cyrus was a muslim?

  • 1st. The meaning of his name, Zul qurnain means " The Two horned" this is from jewish literature. According to the bible, Prophet Daniel saw in his vision the united kingdom of Media and persia was like a two horned Ram before the rise of the greeks (Dan 8: 3,20). The Jews had a high opinion of "The Two Horned" one, because it was his invasion which brought the downfall of the kingdom of Babylon and the liberation of the Israelites.

  • the ram in Daniel's vision is Persia as you said, but not the greek empire. That was symbolised by a single horn he-goat, thus Alexander should have been the one with a SINGLE horn.

2nd, Ezekiel 38 gives us a list of the people who make up Magog. While they do include the current Stans from central asia, they also include North Africa, as well as a good part of the middle east (egypt, syria, lebanon) and Persia, today's Iran.

  • Regarding Gog and Magog it has nerly been established they were the wild tribes of Central Asia who were known by different names: Tartars, Mongols, Huns and Scythians, who had been making inroads on settled kingdoms and empires from ancient times. It is also known that strong bulwarks had been built in southern region of Caucasia, but it hasn't yet been established that they were built by Cyrus!

  • 3rd, Cyrus was a pagan, no doubt about it. True, he did allow the jews to return, but he only authorised the contruction of the CITY WALLS, not the temple. Ezra rebuilt the temple on his own terms, and under constant threat from the neighbouring people.

  • As for Cyrus being a muslim, Cyrus is the only conqueror among the ancient rulers to whom this could be applied to, because even his enemies have been full of praise for his justice and Ezra, a book of the Bilble, asserts he was a god worshipper and a god fearing King who set free the Israelites because of his god worship. He also ordered the rebuilding of the Temple of Soloman for the worship of Allah, who has no partner.. the 1 true god, to us, this makes him a muslim!

  • It's a subject under constant discovery... its exciting, because there is mistakes and people jumping to conclusions, but every thing in history has been like this, you must allow the subject to be clarified further, but your questions are good.. it creates reasearch and removes the errors in the parts discovered so far!

  • Well you can interpret Alexander the great however you want, but he never believed in the God of Adam and Ibrahim, which this was God responding to the question that the Jews were asking the prophet (Mohammed Pbuh)at the time. Basically Islam means submission, a muslim is someone who submits his will to the one God creator (God of Adam, Solomon, Moses, David, Ibrahim, John the baptist, Jesus, Mohammed and etc pbut), who has many names with Allah being one of them.

  • i don't recommend osama, since his material will quickly make you loose your lunch...Second, sura 18 calls allah the lord of Alexander. there's no way around that. Third, Abraham never had a religion, he had a relationship, and the name of his god was YHWH. And as for the names of allah, look in Ishaq's sira, about the invasion from Yemen, by Ab'Raha. That king swore in the name of AR RAHMAN, who became islam's first god. Allah appears only starting with al baquara.

  • I am sorry I am a bit lost here. Who said alexander the great was the great traveler. Read the quran properly. His name was Zul-qarnain (the great traveler), the prophet never said it was Alexander the great. This speaker needs to research his sources, this story he is talking about is in the Quran chapter 18 called "The Cave" verse 83-98. This story of Alexander the great being Zul-qarnain is a great propaganda brought on by people from other religions who don't understand islam.

  • most islamic schollars say this. the name in arabic means "the one with 2 horns", as Alexander is depicted on coins as having 2 eagle feathers placed like horns. recently, osama abdallah claims that here is speaking of the persian king Xerxes (lol). But any way you slice it, THERE WERE NO MUSLIMS BEFORE 620 AD. Alexander worshiped the sun god Amun Ra, and he only traveled east, never west, where the sun sets. Further, we find no remains of an iron barrier ANYWHERE.

  • So technically there were people who believed and submitted themselves to the will of God being that we are all children of Adam. So Muslims did exist. As far as the remains of the Iron Barrier, who knows maybe it has not broken yet, maybe the Gog and Magog are still trapped, maybe they are already free, maybe in the future some archeologist will find. We can never foretell the future. By the way I don't know who Osama abdallah is but I am guessing he is a muslim scholar?
