@AthenasGuard: It helps to research your facts. Samurai Shodown 5: Special was released in the UK and in Japan (but on a seperate disc). They left if off the anthology to force consumers to purchase it on a second disk and they aren't bringing it to the US at all. SNK has no love for US consumers.

i got it for the ps2! it rocks!..samurai showdown five, just by itself, is worth the 20 bucks i paid for it! the only sucky thing is i forgot most of the moves for all the characters! i wished that SNK would've put a complete moveslist for all the samurai and ninjas inside the game! especailly their finishers and honorable deaths..hey!..anyone know where all the moves for each character is posted?

Great games from the 90s. I still remeber Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat on the arcades. And I always wanted to play (and learn to play) the SS games. Now that its been released on ps2, I will try to get the original copy instead of getting the iso from you-know-where. I dont want pal or european isos, this game is worth the 30 bucks (including airmail to have it in my country hehehe).

Tekken is too different from KOF, street fighter, and all those games to be compared to them. If you compare Tekken to Soul Calibur, DOA, or Virtua fighter, then that's reasonable. People usually hate Tekken, but I think it's one of the best out there. If you're good, no button masher can beat u, even if they're using Eddy or other "cheap" characters. Also If you're good, u know that Eddy isn't effective if you button mash with him all the time.

i would hesitate to recommend Guilty Gear or Samurai Shodown over the other. They're both deep and interesting series, with each their own focus. You like chaining things: GG is for you. You like patiently waiting for the right opening: SS is for you. Personally i love both series.

There were two reasons, although I cannot confirm if they're true or not. The first reasom of SSV special not being in the collection is because it would go through a shitload of editing to prevent the Anthology of earning a M rating due to the fatalities and stuff. Rather than just editing it to the point of being unplayable, SNKP thought it would be easiest just to leave it out of the collection.

The other reason is that since SSV Special came out exclusively on the Neo Geo Console, not to mention that it was the last game to be released on said system, SNK playmore wanted SSV Special to be the "Swan Song" of the Neo Geo. In other words, SNKP doesn't want SSVS to be release in ANY other system i.e. PS2, WII, PSP etc.

Yep. That person didn't know what he was talking about. On their website, it only shows release dates for psp or wii but that doesn't mean that the ps2 version was cancelled. The publisher (Crave) that is doing the US release is working on it. It is the same one that helped make King of Fighters Orochi Saga. I didn't get that game because they're work had glithes and audio miscues according to some reviews. Hopefully they do a better job this time. If they want to make it glitch free, I'm willing to wait for it.

It's a collection of Samurai Shodown(Spirits) game, containing Samurai Spirits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5 Special, and 6. There is an Arcade mode( Story Mode), VS mode, Practice mode; extensive color options for your characters; a move list for each character; Sound and video options.

He also mentioned something about "Neo Geo Online Collection", but I'm not sure whether that is just referring to the fact that this is a Collection, or if it means that the game has some sort of online functionality.
