This troopergate thing is ridiculous. ...the man she's accused of wanting fired freaking TASERED his 11-yr-old stepson and said it was because "he asked me to" when questioned about it! He also drank in his trooper car on the way home on one occasion and threated to kill Palin's father. All this and Wooten only got a 5-day suspension from the Alaska Chief of Police.
I'm more concerned about why Palin didn't try HARDER to get this guy fired from being a STATE TROOPER.

The investigation also turned up info that she may have twice violated State law in stopping a Workman's Comp claim filed by her ExBroLaw: in the 1st instance threatening the contractor who processes those claims, in the 2nd instance re-awarding that contract illegally. Also privacy violations concerning personnel files.

I won't defend Wooten, but I'll defend Monegan. Wooten had already been disciplined by Monegan's predecessor and that issue was closed. There's no reason to think Monegan wouldn't have acted more strongly in the case, but he had no grounds to reopen it. Had Monegan yielded to pressure from the Palins and fired Wooten w/out a new cause to do so, he would have been reduced to a puppet in the eyes of his troopers, and his constituents, and lost the moral authority to lead. IMO Palin lacks maturity.

My opinion is just that a 10-day (reduced to 5 by a union) penalty for tasering your stepson as a state trooper isn't enough, & I know people will disagree w/ that, but the case should've been reopened, forget Palin, Monegan wouldn't have been seen as a puppet, just a man w/ high standards. Palin's only at fault in that she didn't outright tell Monegan "fire Wooten." If someone makes death threats towards my family, as she claims, sorry but that's it. Shouldn't be a state trooper, of all things.

Citibank had allegedly denied loans to minorities, while giving loans to white people with similar financial characteristics and credit histories. This doesn't force Citibank to give bad loans, only to extend similar loans to minorities in the SAME financial situation. Second, this was back in 1994, so this did not influence our now plummeting economy. Lastly, the case was settled, so Citibank wasn't forced to change their loaning habits.

An AK District Court enforced the subpoenas last Thursday and refused to block the investigation. Sarah Palin wasn't subpoenaed, and Todd Palin submitted a written response yesterday, along w/ the other seven State employees who hadn't testified. Today the AK Sup Crt also refused to block. Wasilla, oddly, was one of my favorite spots to overnight when I'd go up to the interior. I like Arizona, but after so many wonderful (adrenalin-spiced) adventures in AK, I feel like half my heart is still there. The cold half, I think!

Good idea sending that. The AKs for Truth got a turnout of about 1500 for their Hold Sarah Palin Accountable rally - the biggest Anchorage rally ever. It was (sadly) really striking to see such a large crowd w/out any police in sight, other than one who took the stage (out of uniform) to voice his support for their cause. Last weekend the turnout for an Obama rally (Anchorage) was even larger (despite his deficit in the AK polls). They're calling it Vitamin Democracy - and it's wonderful to see.

well, polls only say what phone numbers the pollsters decide to call - and having taken statistics - those can be used to present all kinds of ideas - Alaska being a prime example - largest state - in land mass, not population.
