  • BP.. you are da bomb

  • @SuperPajamaboy Thank you, sir!

  • nice job!............The only part of this song i'm struggling with is the end tapping because my hands are to small for the 2 to 7 fret stretch :( damn child like hands!

  • nice job, 5 stars

  • Nice tone. Well done. :)

  • thats pretty great. i wish i could play that.

  • Nice job!

  • you're so good men, awsome!!!

  • :DDDDDD

  • very good man.

I only could play this music in an eletric guitar

  • i,m lost from 0:12 LOL

  • cool

  • YOU ARE AWESOME

  • sloppy.

  • @RangRing68 Lets see you do better, good job man!

  • like the eruption style tapping toward the end!

  • @43robb Thank you!

  • nice!!

  • tuning which is the friend?

  • @taboto12 The guitar is tuned down one whole step. D G C F A D

  • What have I been doing wrong all these years??? Excellent man.

  • Sir i praise you for your guitar playing. i have been playing guitar for a year and a half and i hope one day i can play just as good as you. im practicing Panama now and trying to improve and get it down

  • this is better than the one i commented on

  • @ericgatewood1995 Thank you! I don't think I'll ever really master this tune; I just hope to get a little better over time.

  • The tapping parts towards the end of this song are extremely hard to play if you don't have long fingers!

  • I listened to the original by van halen and then listened to yours and yours sounds so much better! You beat Eddie in my opinion! :O You should do Cathedral or eruption (if you have electric)!

  • @RunescapeHullFanatic Haha... okay, let's not get carried away. My ego's inflated enough. Thanks, though.

I do have an electric (it's in a couple of other videos, which aren't that good). Everyone else seems to have the other stuff covered pretty well, though.

  • This is just insane. I clicked on the video and turned around, I thought I was watching Eddie play it, but then I looked and it was you. You're like a god at guitars.

  • @ChrisSniped Gosh, I don't know if I'm all that, but thank you so much!

  • HOLY CRAP!......that is all

  • this is my second comment but this is still the best iv'e ever seen. It sounds just like eddie is playing it. amazing

  • @aSexyHamburger Wow, thank you! I don't know if I'm that good, but I appreciate the encouragement.

  • awsome man. are those nylon or steel strings?

  • Thank you! They're nylon strings.

  • AMAZING!!!! 5 STARZ BRO!! btw its 8204 views now with me =D

  • DAMN! dude how do you play so fast and have it come out sounding so clean?

  • Thank you! I just played it slowly a lot, then gently ramped up the speed to maintain clarity. It just took a lot of practice. That's the quality of Eddie Van Halen's playing that I admire most -- his clarity at any speed.

  • @paulmooreparks ya EVH is a great player i guess ya itll just take time right now i can eitther go fast or slowly with clarity

  • just simply amazing i dont know how else to say it

  • I'm sorry I haven't gotten to thank all of you individually, but... THANK YOU! 7000 views is just amazing. Thank you all so much.

  • Cool.

  • the was awesome!!

  • Absolutely brilliant....fantastic..

  • tht was really2 cool, man.

    u r d best.

  • great covering ! difficult piece played on a classical guitar ! watch my version , done with the electric guitar ! you rock ... 5 stars !

  • Sounds great!

  • i'd love 2 but d time hasn't come yet bcoz u r 10x better than me on d speed just after d mid harmonic part n d feel of d tap as well.

4 me, i'm still in d beginning of gettin' d groove.

thanks 4 sharing d vid anyway.

i've learned a lot from it.

can't wait 4 more vid from u pal.

  • d tap part will be more beautiful with a phaser x u think sir? n u r right... it must be at a min level. my electric string gauge is 009 n it sounds funny when doing d high E.

  • Be sure to post a video... I'd like to hear how it sounds!

  • so beautiful. sounded just like evh...

can i do it on an electric guitar with a neutral+phaser sounds? do u think it will sound like mess?

  • Thank you! For electric, you probably want to keep effects to a minimum, just enough to color the sound a bit. I tend to either play it completely clean, or with full gain, with no other effects, when I play electric. Play around with it, though, and see what works for you.

  • i heard recently that this song is something like 8 notes a second aprox thats insane

  • so many notes in that tiny period of time

  • man can you please tell me what do you do with the left hand in the intro, because i see you do something and i really want to know... thanks ,k and very good video

  • The first chord, in the first measure, is an Esus4 (0,2,2,2,0,0). The second chord is an A (0, 0, 2, 2, 2, 0). I'm tapping the strings directly against the octave fret, then immediately letting go so that the octave harmonic note is played instead of the fundamental note. So, on the first chord, I'm fretting 0, 2, 2, 2, 0, 0 but tapping right on top of the frets: 12, 14, 14, 14, 12, 14.

I promise, more vids are coming that explain this. Really!

  • Oops... the second chord is an Am: x, 0, 2, 2, 1, x. After I tap 1 on the B string I go 3, then 0 on the same string. Search for "Spanish Fly" tab... that'll probably make a lot more sense than my explanations. I don't have a guitar in my lap right now, anyway...

  • Sweet. I think I going go learn it, it's been on my list for too long. Always have loved this piece.

  • man how youdo it !!!! lord teach us

  • Perfect play!

  • Dude, you rock! Would you ever post a "how to" video?? =D

  • It's coming, I promise. I've just been too busy to work on it lately.

  • YAYYY! =D

  • your the acoustic guitar god

  • Haha... I don't know about all that, but thank you.

  • How on earth can you tap like that on accostic. You have to have rabbit ears to hear it when I try it =\.

  • It's easier on nylon strings, at least for me. I can't do it on a steel-string acoustic; just nylon acoustic or steel-string electric.

  • My guitar is kinda weird. It has three of both lol. But even on the nylon strings I still can't hear a thing. Do you have to tap extremely hard or with your nails or anything?

  • I just tap with the tip of the finger. It takes a little while to develop a callous there, and I think that might help to make a sharper sound. Imagine hitting the strings with a piece of wet clay, then a piece of dry clay. The dry clay would get a louder sound. Also, with practice, you'll develop all the right muscles to hit the strings harder.

It's kind of weird to think about this stuff in detail after doing it for so long!

  • I see what you mean now. When I was tapping with my right hand i was doing it really hard and couldn't hear anything so I reached across my fretboard and held the fret with my right and tapped lightly with my left and it sounded louder lol. I've been practising for like 2 hours now and tips of my fingers (no exaggeration) are pretty much ripped open so I'll call it quits for tonight lol.

  • you play good! and I want to give a kick in the ass!.. to youtube who is not showing Any original music..! obviously you want to BE the second hand music handler!

  • You're completely right, of course. I have a rather large backlog of originals that I"m trying to get "just so" for recording. Naturally, putting originals onto Youtube is fraught with peril, so it takes a little work. It's coming, though. All of this was mostly for testing purposes.

  • no you are i hope you make it big good luck!

  • great

  • very beautifully...greatings from germany

  • I never knew Jimmy Fallon was a KICK-ASS guitarist! JK! You rock man. I'm learning this song and this video is helping. THANKS MAN! :D

  • Jimmy Fallon? That's a new one for me. Thanks for the kind words, though.

  • Thanks... I've been working on a set of videos that breaks down the song section-by-section to show how I play it. The first part will probably be a video of the entire song slowed down to half-speed. The problem is, when I play that slowly I have to get everything *JUST RIGHT*. I actually do a lot of stuff wrong in the video above. Once I'm happy with it, I'll post that. Maybe it'll help.

In the meantime, check the video of me playing the intro to Hot for Teacher at half-speed. Might help.

  • Amazing kid just amazung

  • Amazing :P

  • awesome it's so hard to play and im still learning it
