  • Fun to see how many here think they can do better by just watching the video. Watching a video on a display is one thing, driving the car in this river is another thing, trust me :-)

  • YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN

  • so i noticed you just lift it enough so you can cut it and get big tires on them. That because you can only go so big and i guess its more stable lower. But i guess your still gettin the same ground clearance with a 40 inch tire lifted truck no metter how much you lift its still on 40's i was just wonderin on why every video of ice land has trucks lifted with massive tires that you could go another foot to fith them

  • @quadit321. The icelandic experience of modifying trucks is to lift the truck as little as possible. That way you get better driving skills on the car, it is easyer to go in and out of (most of the trucks are for every day use), they are better in sidehill driving (lower center of gravity) and more. There are also laws on how you can modify a truck in Iceland if you want to make it road legal, for example ground clearence to rear bumber, hight to headlamps and many more.

  • Patrols on 44 inch tires are for example on limit with hight to headlamps. If you would lift the Patrol one inch more you will need to put new and lower headlamps on it!

In Iceland too much lift is considered a bad modifycation and we think that it damages the driving skills and the look of the car. So we don't like the american way of lifting the car to the sky. That is why all trucks in Iceland are modified the same way with as little lift as possible.

  • let the nissan float back to japan.

  • truck wasnt designed for such extremes.

  • Those tires are fucking sick

  • hvar er það?

  • steep bank i'll tell ya that much

  • all you guys need to lighten up on this guy. This crossing was made look easy on another video with a f-250 powerstroke on 54's. Now seeing 44's get stuck explains just how hard this crossing is. Lets see you guys with your 35's and f/r lockers that get you out of your local holes do that shit.

  • Dodge Ram, not F-250; but still, that doesn't change the validity of your point.

  • looks cold wet and windy ,,

  • how come u guys put monster tires on with shit all lift? u would get much better articulation with more wheel arch clearance... not that it would help in this situation.. just need berries!! hehe

  • whats that long antenna used for?

  • SSB radio.

  • Contacting aliens.

  • Does this fella know how to drive a 4wd? And no this water is not what i would call deep at all!!

  • then lets see a vid of your vehicle crossing water thats deeper with a current just as fast...

  • its got a really strong current though. if he was to go back a little and get a running start, it would push his vehicle sidways.

  • you wouldn't want to get stuck in the drink there, cold arse water flowing in wouldn't be a good thing on the toes =P

  • You should turn front wheels to the right, maybe you woldn´t need help.

  • The driver did everything right here. The river is deep and streamy, the bank is steep and loose, and the winch in front of the car did go into the bank. Everything was done right here to not damage the car. The driver is one of Icelands most experienced driver of modified cars like these and is one of the pioneers in modifying cars on big tires. So he knows what he was doing.

  • soo y do he not put big tires on the patrol

  • You need more power on that patol.....

  • No more power is needed in that situation. The river is deep and streamy, the bank is steep and loose, and the winch in front of the car did go into the bank. Everything was done right here, the situation was just to hard for the little Patrol.

We can all agree that orginal Patrols need more power, but that one has every horspower taken out of that engine with tuneup, turbo and intercooler.

  • it's arctic tuning, yes? what does they do to modify stock patrol engines?

  • The most common patrol tuning is bigger exhaust pipe (3") with open muffler, intercooler, computer chip and tuning up the oilsystem and turbine.

  • that looks gay

  • You mean that in a good way?

  • Thanks for sharing your vid with us.

  • those tires look like balloons! seems they would have gotten a little better traction had they aired down a bit, or something along those lines...they look waaay over-inflated too

  • The air pressure in the tires is about 8-10 psi there. That is on the lower end when you are driving on rocky ground. Drivers in Iceland have a lot of experience with the tire pressure and use the right pressure where it is needed. The problem here is the winch in front of the car that was pushed in the loose, steep bank.

  • haha, yeah the winch explains alot...

i was just assuming, cause those tires look like they are balloons! maybe its just the style of tire..

  • do your cars have air compressors installed in your engine?

  • We have air compressors (belt driven aircondition pumps) for the air locks and tires, but it is not common to put the air directly into the engine. We use turbines, intercoolers and bigger exhaust systems for more power on the diesel trucks. But there are few petrol cars with "blowers" that use compressed air for more power, but they are very few in Iceland.

  • also wondering why winch instead of the first truck just pulling it up??

  • The winch was already at the back of the other truck and in this situation it was better to use the winch.

  • Why didn't the Patrol attack the bank at a 45 degree angle to beat both the river and the slope?

  • The video doesn't show very well how steep and loose the bank is. The river is deep with heavy stream at the other side and the driver didn't want to take any chance of rolling into the river and destroying the car.
