  • You tube is truley great to bring like minde people together. At the begining of the documentary Harlan County, Phyllis blew me away with her voice. I dont think she wasw credited in the docum. And it took me a while to find out who she was. I am far from that life or country and she really made an impression. it is now 2011 and i am still chasing her.

  • This Delmore Brothers song is actually called 'Last (c)old shovel'

  • I'm saddened to hear that Phyllis Bowens has passed away. She did an incredible job portraying Loretta Lynn's mom in Coal Miner's Daughter and should have received a best supporting actress nomination from the Academy Of Motion Picture Association for that role.

  • I absolutely loved it. Never heard it. I loved the movie Coal Miner's Daughter, and thought she played a wonderful part as Loretta Lynn's mother. Thank you so much for sharing. Gwen

  • I love this kind of old songs. Post all of these you can so we all can enjoy them. Thanks Tommy.

  • My mom called me this evening to tell me Phyllis had passed away. She said Phyllis' brother called her this afternoon. I'm sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

  • A truly wonderful person has ended her journey here on earth. We know she is up singing her heart out. Prayers are with Ralph and all the family.
