  • Christians are mentally disabled people whose minds and bodies are infected with the Christian mental virus. The Bible is full with subliminal stories of human and animal sacrifice, mass murder, occult symbolism, etc. Christianity is a conspiracy and a hoax from beginning to end. It is design for the mental, spiritual and even physical enslavement of the ignorant masses.

  • "[The fact that the gospels are accurately copied doesn't imply that they are historically true.]" It may be better to say that they are precisely copied, but remain inaccurate. It's a minor distinction, but I like the idea that precision is how much detail is present in a statement, and accuracy is how well the statement reflects reality.

  • @tallskinnygeek I like your way better. I think "precisely copied" does work better.

  • Yay! Feigning objectivity to manipulate readers! last chapter up on Atheist Asshole dot com. This one going up soon.

  • awesome series. This stuff reminds me why I still visit youtube.

  • I'm thoroughly enjoying this series, Steve. Thanks for all the time and effort that you've obviously put in, and no doubt will continue to do :o)

  • @jeffner1980 You're welcome! Just shot the next installment this morning. It'll be up on Friday.

  • Steve, it's like you're some kind of army hero, leaping on that grenade for the rest of us with this dissection of complete crap. Thanks, pal.

  • @vryc Don't mention it.

  • Sorry for the delay, but my notes for this video are now posted and linked in the description box for those of you who are interested in having a look at them.

  • The "earliest copy of John" isn't a copy of John, it's a fragment (larger than a postage stamp and smaller than a dollar bill) - about 14 words in Greek. It's enough to convincingly recognize it as a part of what we have as the Gospel of John. But to assume that the rest of John's gospel (circa 90 A.D.) was identical to the modern text from such a scrap requires... a leap of faith!

  • @ThePeaceableKingdom Sorry. Should have said, "about 14 words in Greek on each side"

  • There are many more published copies of "The DaVinci Code" than there are published copies of DaVinci's own "Treatise On Painting" (which he never finished). Which tells us more about Leonardo?

The number of copies has no bearing on the truth of what is being copied; but it does on the evolution of the text. If there were as many early copies of Hesiod we would understand more of the development of pagan religous thought in Attica and Boeotia. Augury by birds would be an interesting read...

  • This episode kicked ass, Steve! You out-studied them, you out-doctrined them, you out-divinitied them! Me, I'm more First Five Books, but you, sir, have your Gospels down! I think Metzger was 'of an age'. Strobel has no such excuse.

  • Thank you for doing this. I have had this book thrust upon me by my parents, and I just don't have the patience to wade through it. I meticulously examined everything I could get my hands on in my younger years but gave up after realizing that we just cannot know how the Jesus Event really got started. There just isn't enough evidence. I just don't have the patience to read through yet another "explanation".

  • Weather they are true or not, the gospels are a beautiful story full of wisdom. Believer don't really care about their historicity, and they are right, it doen't really matter. Now Lots of people throw the cristianity to the fire without taking the time of understanding what it is about. Poor them!

  • @Jibe111111111 Well, I don;t think they are a particularly moral or beautiful work of writing. And Paul indicated that the historicity of the stories was very important.

Any region that preaches vicarious redemption and such is quite evil and should be thrown on the fie

  • @Jibe111111111 "the gospels are a beautiful story full of wisdom"

You should try reading some real literature. Maybe a little Shakespeare.

  • Awesome video! keep em coming!

  • Just a note to cheer you on. I look forward to these

  • How you holdin up...? Get it all out man, holding in stress is a great way to die young, and to not burst into a mess of "HOW CAN THIS BE CONSIDERED IN ANYWAY A GOOD ARGUMENT!?!?" at this stage is either a sign of true skill or brain damage.

  • Excellent series, Steve. Love the cross referencing and the skeptical eye you are leveling against the book. I eagerly anticipate the next episode.

  • This is an amazing series, thanks for doing this!

  • Good stuff. I'm not reading along myself but listening to you do it is truly entertaining and educational. :)

  • I'm enjoying this series. Thanks for making them!

  • Dude, you've got some of the more intelligent, eloquent videos going on out here. Thanks for your contributions.

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this, well worth the 40 mins it took.

  • The belief in an omnipotent deity named God or any god is for the foolish and the fool hearty; it transcends from fellow humans that have scant amount of self belief of personal fruition and need a crutch to bear the burden, weight or load of life. God is not and never was real it is only real in the mind's of its believers. A belief is a thought and thoughts are Bio-electricity and that is energy; energy and matter are synonymous with one another so a belief is real to the believer.
