I have the whole series and I love it. Compared to other Giant Robot animes like Space Runaway Ideon and Zambot 3, it's nowhere near as classic as those two.
I think we were screwed both ways. English music rocked, but off course we were all cheated out of the good action scenes, and now with the Japanese version, we get all the action and true storyline unedited, but oh that crappy Japanese music.
They just can't salvage this Voltron series. Not worth adding to my collection and opted for the remastered Robotech instead :)
It's funny, watching Voltron as a kid led me to collect over 400 anime dvds to date, but I just can't bring myself to buy the Voltron series. Time hasn't been very good to the show, and Robotech seems a better buy. Mazinger, Mazinkaiser,
Godannar, Evangelion, Rahxephon, etc make Golion look so lame now... (sigh)..
Maybe GoLion should get an update like Gatchaman did in the 90s. Now the new Gatchaman OVAs ROCKED!!!
And what's wrong with showing Allura kneeing a Doomite soldier in the balls? As far as I'm concerned that teaches kids a method of defense. But I guess we in the States dind't want kids to kick each other below the belt.
In the American version, the Doomite soldiers were supposed to be robots. Robots don't have "family jewels", so that part wouldn't have made sense in the context of the program.
I understand fully. But still, I have the complete Voltron & Golion series and I understood that in Voltron, the Doomite soldiers were robots. Still funny as hell though.
*ROTFLOL* You put the "censored" block right where Allura/Farla kicks the Doomite soldier in the nuts! A stroke of pure genius! Looking forward to catching Go-Lion on DVD!
is it dubbed or is it subbed?
