  • Looked the best. I am half nicoya and would love to master this with the maduro y queso frito. ;)$

  • @nicamexnati84 hello, thanks. If you use Mexican beans, it will not turn out like this. Mexicans beans are bigger and creamier and they will make your dish a little different. you can try to see if it work out okay. next time try to use Central American Beans. If you can not find them, let me know and I will send you a bag okay. Try with the Mexicans beans and let me know. Remember to fry a little bit of onions and bell peppers first

  • Thank u so much!! I went crazy because I was going to use the canned beans like i always do but when u said to not use, i said f it, i'll try!! I didnt know which beans to pic so i bought the el mexican red beans... I didnt know which to get out of hondurans and salvadorians. Will the ones I got work??? I've been soaking them for 3 hours... How much longer do I need to soak and do i keep on low for those 3 hours after a rapid boil?? Sorry!! Ive ben dying to learn how to make this and yours loo

  • U are really great and helpful!! Hope mine comes out the same!! How to make the beans?!!

  • @nicamexnati84 thank you very much. you can buy beans at many stores, make sure the beans are from Central America, you can use Salvadorians, Hondurians or Nicaraguans beans. These beans are ideal for this dish. Boil them for up to 3 hours until they are soft and tender. that is all. I have a video of how to boil these beans, but the video is in Spanish

  • Hola, my ex boy friend was nicaraguan, his mom made the best platanos fritos! She would make a red/orange colour batter for them. Do you have the recipee? :)

  • Batter recipee for platanos fritos!

  • WOW, buen trabajo.

Viva Mi Linda Nicaragua!

  • Woohoo thank you for this video!

  • Two questions:

When I was vacationing in Costa Rica a few months ago, they usually served gallo pinto as breakfast; something I would really like to make for myself. I was therefore wondering whether you could 1) store the cooked beans (which takes three hours, which I again don't have early in the morning), and 2) whether one can store gallo pinto in the fridge or freezer over a couple of days.

And thanks for the video(s)! I've subscribed even though I don't know a single word in Spanish.

  • @LucidCatnap hello how are you ? thank you for writing. to make gallo pinto i do not know if you have the beans already boiled which take around three hours to boil. you do not have to freeze gallo pinto. if you put them in a plastic container sealed, they will be fine for 3 days. We eat gallo pinto every single day for break fast, lunch and dinner. using nicaragua small beans is a great wat to make a great gallo pinto. i just uploaded a new video, but it is in spanish.

  • @LucidCatnap oh, yeah, you can freeze the cooked beans up to a month and that is the best way to keep them from going bad. you can put small batches and just use it when you need it. I sometimes make videos in english. watch the video of how to make nicaraguan tacos. It is in English

  • Hey, thanks for the video. Helpful.

  • @Heraclitean thank you for commenting and your nice words. have a great day.

  • @Granmah hola, gracias a ti x tu comentario y apoyo. cuidate y saludes a espana.

  • Tho those people who think that they can make a better gallo pinto. i grew up eating this simple and easy recipe that even my five year old son can make.

So do not tell me how to make it because this is only one in many ways that this dish can me made. So, relax, take it easy and enjoy it for the love of god.

  • @bayardo2007 hello Bayardo. thanks for responding. How is that yo are the head of the Pr dept in the foodnework and you go to youtube criticizing novice people who post video for fun or for people to learn. I believe that your comments should be more constructive because you can offend people. I do not mind people criticizing my videos as long as they are not insulting.

take care and I ever need some advice I will write you back.

Say hi, to Tyler Florence. He is my favorite chef.

  • @bayardo2007 hello bayardo. first of all, I do not have to find character nor do I have to sound like someone that I am not. This is is simple and easy fucken dish than any simple person can make at home. Only dump people need measurements for an easy recipe like this. This is not the food network show, it is youtube. You gotta sound like a latin man. I would like to find out how you voice sounds so I give you some advice as well.

Do not waste your time or mine worrying about an easy recipe.

    gracias x tu comentario

  • @ossiechamorro yes, in the atlantic coast of nicaragua they make it with coconut milk. I am going to make a video one of these days like that

  • @Shadow24569 hello, thank for the comment, yes, it is kind of boring just using rice and beans, you can add vegetables and you never know what you will get. just one tip, i like to use nicaraguan beans which tend to be smaller and have better taste than mexican beans. I like the idea of using butter. Why din't I think of that ?

take care and hope you like the gallo pinto.

by the way, you can buy uncooked nicaraguans beans for 3 dollars a pound but you have to boil them for many hours.

  • you can add eggs to the gallo pinto and fri chees and jam here is just the basic

  • @iorel1982 that sounds great, i have never added eggs to it but i have added cheese for sure

  • yeah but the first cook the eegs apart never mix first you make the eggs and kep in other dish and then cook the pinto cold be eggs and jam mix

  • @iorel1982 thanks for the tip. i am going to cook it tomorrow morning. i do not know about jam, but i like the idea of eggs

    thanks a lot

  • sorry i mean ham or sausage im from costarrica we allways take this breadfast with eegs nicaragua people say this foot is traditional from nicaragua but the very true in all center america eats this dish
