SSJ & the Jukes are missing today from our roots. SSJ had a hard climb, no doubt but still today the best show I've seen to date since 1980! I'd like to go out on a limb here but with the revival of the "back to the roots" movement SSJ could certainly cliam his stake and I would back him 100%!
.because a rocker or a jazz musician or rapper has drug/alcohol problems that doesn't make less great ,maybe less marketable now of days.. willy deville had
major problems, but was quoted" everyday life is hard ,being on stage is easy."
southside johnny may have had problems, but both guys on stage where special.
love um both. "GREAT".I THINK PEOPLE LIKE THE ABOVE for the complete freedom in there performance and the hint of danger in there persona is seductive to the listner

willy was a junky for maybe 20 years or so. he died in august 2009 from cancer. they maybe had much more in common than only their talent. have a look at some of his vids on youtube. start with "it's so easy" (from tarantino's death proof)
SS johnny is great and known.. but he just never "made it" like bruce springsteen... Springsteen went ALL THE WAY.. I love SS but Springsteen was always "higher" than Springsteen.. if u know what i mean
yea ive seen that.. and bruce showed SS up w. his voice..
bruce is way better than SS and everyone knows it. Lyric wise, and music wise.. and lets not even get started on live performances cause no one beats bruce live
true. they are the reason he is not bigger. also, dope and booze was his daily workout for years. did you see s-teen do that backwards body-dip during the superbowl ? he is in good shape in his 60's, johnny let himself go.
@corp588 Really? I have never heard this. i read a lot of these discussions, & I never heard this one. Let's face it, drugs aren't known to kill musical rock careers!
I'm a Jersey girl, and it's always a little disorienting to find how popular the are in northern Europe. They love them some Jersey shore! Seems to me they have it pretty good.
Caught wind of these guys 32 years ago. Like a fine wine they only get better. Best horn section for "feel". Can rock out anywhere they appear. Thanks Jukes!
The record companies wanted to mold the Jukes- but they refused to mold to anyone/anything other than doing what they love best-entertaining with the music they believe in.
In a way it was a mutual partung to monster financial success and the Jukes stayed tru to their Asbury Park attitude.
So Bruce took the road to $ and the Jukes are probably happier than them.
Drugs & alcohol is a diet for musicians, not all but SSJ & Jukes put out some great music!!!!

there are two guys that should have become bigger stars: ssj and willy deville. what do you think?
karntnisleians 1 year ago 2
I am not sure who willie is. SSJ became an alchoholic and junky, or he would be a bigger star. his fault.

No-one tied him down and injected him or forced feed him drugs did they?
A person takes drugs because they want to, period!

@karntnisleians also The Bay City Rollers ..never got the cred.

@karntnisleians I totally agree, although Willy DeVille had great success here in Europe he still deserved so much more.
By the way there's an online petition to get Willy inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, i've signed it, i hope others will too.

Bruce is learning to get the real feeling of getting into music watching SSJ.

SSJ is the superior act. The man has class. Nobody can touch him. "The Boss" is really "The Student" compared to SSJ.

Hij is helemaal te gek !! Ik vind hem beter als Bruce. Veel meer stem en emotie.
He is great. I think he's better than Bruce. A voice and more emotion.

The guy is so good. Why is he not bigger than he is? Without Johnny, we would not have Springsteen and Bon jovi.

88632, I stand corrected. I did some more research, and you are right. Springsteen came before Johnny. Thanks my friend.
