  • I have asked Steve Dudas and he confirms to be the author, together with Mark Hart. They wrote this song for a Quincy Jones album called Soul, of the Q-series albums he made for a weird label called Extreme Music that is not well distributed and does not appear on any discography, but which has a website (album: 1625). More importantly, he says the singer is no less than Ollie Woodson, of Temptations fame. I am still missing the year. Not Quincy's voice, but Quincy Jones production indeed...

  • Thnx for the info!

  • This is Bobby Byrd, no discussion. And his salute to Fred Wesley just nails it. Happy Birthday, John! R.I.P Bobby!

  • I agree with ChBaltimore :D

  • When you check the song with Shazam it recognizes it as Candles on the Cake by Mark G Hart & Stephen Emil Dudas, never heard of either of them and can't find anything on iTunes of Spotify either though...

  • Allright, thnx for helping though

  • It is Quincy Jones, but he never released it ;-)

  • Thumbs up als je hier bent gekomen via LOI. :)

  • Leidse Onderwijs Instellingen

  • I also think it is Bobby Byrd - sure sounds like him!

  • the artist is really quincy jones- candles on the cake!!!!

  • @FRANKYNUTSS THIS IS NOT QUINCY JONES VOICE, AND NOT HIS STYLE OF PRODUCTION AT ALL , for the past THIRTY YEARS I listen to his music he RARELY sing HE MOSTLY PRODUCE and play Keyboards (originally Trumpet player) except on the Album : Smackwater Jack on the Marvin Gaye song "WHAT"S GOING ON " and you'll realize that this very good Funky Record IS NOT Quincy Jones Voice

I met him a month ago in New York for his last CD release "Soul Bossa Nostra" check it out TOTAL DIFFERENT SOUND

  • there is a commercial with Bram moskovich who happens to be the best attorney of the Netherlands being fucked over by two farmer boys. whos happen to have studied some law books. hahahahaha EPIC!

  • Great start of the day!

  • Sounds like Wilson picket or Joe Tex,Definitely NOT James Brown

  • This must be james brown. can''t nobody sing like him

  • @ChBaltimore JB WAS THE GREATEST BUT NO There are other guys who sounded like him I give you an example Check on You Tube the following singer & Title : Freddie Wilson " Promise Land"

there is one poor quality version but if you search and scroll you'll find a cleaner version

    Enjoy !

  • Our band will play this song very soon, look @ soulblender dot NL

  • hee zoete song

    7LF&Ni6k

    Oi

  • zoethooor

  • Looking at the picture, did you get the song from an album or from somewhere else that could help us figure out the 'mystery" :-)

  • No that part still remains a mystery, the picture is just a Soulful one which is the reason I took it, it's SOUL MUSIC!

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS PRODUCED BY QUINCY JONES IF YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE ARTIST NAME ? I don't think it is a Quincy Jones production It sounds like a relatively recent recording which imitates (or sounds like) an old Soul record (Good Funky Groove), I worked with James Brown and his musicians IT IS NOT JAMES BROWN FOR SURE. There are MANY Soul artists who sounds like James Brown Check : Freddie Wilson "promise Land" (You Tube) Mickey Murrey, LEE FIELDS, Tony Wilson

  • The organisation of whose commercial this song was in, told me it was produced bij Quincy but did not know the artist/singer themselves so I took it. It was never released on something so that's why the details are so hard to find they told me, still strange why THEY couldn't even find the name of the artist/singer but yet the procucer.

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli Oh I see So in other words it is used in a commercial, BUT I still have my doubts about Quincy Jones It is not his style of production at all as you probably know I follow his carreer for the past 30 years I even met him in New York at his last CD release party.

The back ground groove sounds more like Tower Of Power or similar Studio Band NOT QUINCY JONES type.

    Thanks for the info anyway

  • Thnx too!

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli Could it be Bobby Byrd?

  • It can be, I don't know that artist, I've just listened some of him but I'm not sure, can be

  • @Nikoz7Makaveli THE HORN SECTION SOUNDS LIKE TOWER OF POWER with a soul singer ...

  • Where did you get this song? I have been searching for it for some time now. Could you tell me how is performing this?

    Thanks in advance.

    GJ

  • I've been looking a long time for the song too, some say it's Quincy Jones singin', although the voice is more like James Brown's and Quincy was more an Jazzmusician so, artist still unknown.
