  • I would like to see a James Rolfe review about Psycho with spoilers.

  • i'm still baffled. the iconic screamer star in this film...brought in a daughter who is known as the scream queen...huh. Must've run in the family.

  • Garth!

  • I remember seeing this scene on a show dedicated the Alfred Hitchcock, I think it was made before he died and he was sitting there in the show. They showed this and it scared the crap out of me, I was a kid and I wouldn't take a shower after that. Incidentally I loved the parody done by Bugs Bunny in Looney Toons Back in Action.

  • Garth is so funny

  • my moms last name was bates and my great grandpa owned a bates motel

  • I..fucking..HATE Garth...

  • Dontcha just fuckin' love all of the Wayne's World clips every three seconds?

  • Alfred Hitchcock was a genius, he was like the Albert Einstein of movie cinema.

  • ree ree ree ree ree ree ree

  • Hehehehe........ Alfred HitchCOCK

  • this is my favorite horror movie

  • I'd like to see a remake of Psycho 2, one that sticks closer to the book, which was intended to satirize all the slasher movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th.

  • i would like to see another remake of psycho.. not in an attempt to out do the original, but to stay closer to the novel so it's more of a stand alone movie. blasphemy, i know, but it's already been remade once so the damage has been done.... not to mention the 3 sequels.

  • epic garth moment

  • wtf re re re

  • REE REE REE LOL

  • The most suspenseful thriller EVER! As I am told, they had the 'Shower Scene' with no music, but that music really adds to the sheer horror!

  • I share a birthday with Janet Leigh

  • one of the greatest horror movies of all time. no question.

  • Psycho and The Birds... Sheer Epicness. I admire Hitchcock's work, there;s something cerebral about it all.

I never saw the remake with Vince Vaughn. Dodged a bullet, huh?

  • @VanTX89 In my opinion, if you KNOW what's BEST for YOU, you'll AVOID the re-make at ALL COST! No, I haven't seen the re-make, myself, but, C' MON, we're talkin' PSYCHO, here! Unless you're ready to face a "firing squad," LEAVE THE ORIGINAL PSYCHO ALONE!

  • @AngelofAnguish If anything just update the sound and picture quality and re-release it in theaters. They have a cult following. People love these films, they WILL see them. So there's an easy recoup factor.

  • I GOT SCARED AS SHIT WHEN GARTH POPPED UP!

  • it's funny cause the man disguise himself as his mother

  • My mum saw both Psycho and The Birds at a young age and although it's been years since she's seen them but she said they terrified her. Hitchcock knows what he's doing

  • THE BLOOD IS ACTUALLY HERSHEYS CHOCLATE!

  • ree ree ree

  • Garth Algar... FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • @Schachmills *Winds up a jack-in-box that pops up with the word FAIL*

  • @Styopan

    You win!

  • @ranako515 foster's home for imaginary friends?

  • I

    HAVE

    A

    CARROT

(no one will ever get this reference ahahaha)

  • @Ranako515 From that old cartoon foster's home for imaginary friends were cheese looks like he's about to go nuts!......but.....it's a carrot.

  • @Ranako515 Foster's...

  • Norman Bates, quite possibly the most terrifying man in early films

  • Anyone knew the scenes were the hotel guy was eating candy wasn't actually intentional. Anthony use to eat a bunch of candy before the scene then stuff it all in before he had to go out untill they just stopped caring and let him go out with a handful of candy.

  • @morebeerful well said, well said

  • @TheZombiesharks I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't see The Birds as all that scary. It was good, but it didn't have the atmosphere of these films: that eerie mood that pervades every aspect of true horror.

  • early in the film? like 50 minutes in, not that early

  • its posible all those things are real, because they are things he do not know or understand

  • I remember watching Psycho then Rear Window. Man Psycho was great but Rear Window was amazing. Watching the story pan out the way it did, in room and one setting was truly amazing.

  • wait he should put the addams family right haha (bad pun)

  • Lol Garth...

  • Fun fact: the blood in the shower scene is chocolate

  • @BassBOY0GIRL yeah its hershey chocolate syrup!! yummy yummy blood.

  • I love Norman Bates

  • REE REE REE REE REE REE REE

  • I wonder if Alfred counts "The Birds" as a "monster film" Hope AVGN makes The Birds into the halloween 2011 monster madness.

  • They should do a remake of PHYSCO II

  • @peepmister24 why?

  • @peepmister24 yeah...cause the first remake came out so well

  • @peepmister24 They might wait 22 years just like they did in the original series before they made the first sequel.

  • Alfred Hitchcock wanted psycho to be a low budget film, so to save the cost on buying fake blood he shot it in black and white and just used chocolate powder as blood.

  • the shower scene is over rated, the best scene is the staircase scene, follwed by the insane cellar scene lol

  • REE REE REE!!

what was that about? so random lol

  • @legendarywerewolf206 Just a quick gag in the movie Wayne's World. Basically, it was from a brief clip of one character, Garth, sitting at a donut shop, playing with his food. He makes a figure out of donuts and then reenacts the psycho scene. I recommend you see that film. As Wayne would say, it's "Excellent! Ch'yah!"

  • I'm so enamored of this movie. It's just so freakin' awesome. MOAR IN-DEPTH REVIEW PLEASE. You kinda sound like you don't like this movie that much.

  • @smallredrocks He does, don't worry. I think you'll agree... But I think you have to be stupid not to love this movie. James is a big fan of film, no less. He HAS to like it.

  • im sick of that damn theme song.

  • im sick of the damn thing song.

  • pycho had chocolate syrup 4 blood i kno bcause i looked it up

  • Norman Bates kind of reminds me of Ed Wood.

  • 0:05 Evil Ash: GOODY LITTLE TWO-SHOES! GOODY LITTLE...

Ash: [cocks shotgun and points it under Evil Ash's nose]

    [nods head and shoots him]

Ash: Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

  • @jagarcia0705 "I ain't that good"

  • @jagarcia0705 I don't get it? I know it's from Army of Darkness, but what's that got to do with the timestamp?

  • @jagarcia0705 What movie is that from?

  • @waterflowing2 Army of Darkness, the 3rd Evil Dead movie.

  • @jagarcia0705 Sally for- *fixes jaw* xD

  • I loved it when the Wayne's World impression faded into the real scene. Best part!

  • @MovieDemon I second that

  • the blood is choclate sauce(:

  • that guy looks like chuck palahniuk. haha

  • Ha waynes world

  • I really love James' Monster Madness reviews. It has made me the perfect horror movie know-it-all, LOL.

But why hasn't he aknowleged Carrie yet? I mean, that movie was a pretty big horror film of it's time. Oh well.

  • I dont know why I watch monster madness because I am an easily scared person when it comes to horror movies but not so much the japanese giant monsters like Godzilla and Gamera

  • This one should have been #1

  • @dogfan4lyfe why? its not as old as most of the previous ones. hes doing them oldest to newest. not best to least

  • My favorite parody is the bugs bunny one

  • Janet Leigh + mothering = Jamie Lee Curtis is born! But seriously, that's her mother.

  • my third scariest film ....

    So AWESOME!!!

  • Psycho ... the greatest horror film ever made.

  • @MovieDemon I won't argue that :) !

  • You know Anthony Perkins (the guy who played Norman) was originally going to be Sonny from the Godfather? Cool!

  • This was one of the best horror films ever made. Don't be put off by it's lack of color, it's got ingenuity written all over it. The fact that it doesn't use any supernatural elements make the film even more chilling.

  • @Demonfireangel I agree! IF it WASN'T FOR Psycho, I DON'T THINK I'd be a horror fan, TODAY!

  • I don't really think you said enough about the movie here. You could've atleast mentioned the creepy house, or motel, his obsession with his mother, or even the lead character's name.

  • @NICKREAPER316 he didnt want to spill any thing cool

  • @karina5242 So he doesn't want to spill what it says on the back of the VHS tape?

  • If any Psycho has taught me to move out of my parents house by the age of 30 or else I become a psychotic killer

  • @johnhamilton08 and accept the changes in your family whether divorce of your parents or new siblings.

  • @clashrogers that too, my point was more of a joke but that's a very good point.

  • The house used in this film still sits on the Universal Studios lot.

  • Of the many Hitchcock films I've seen, I always picked Psycho as his best film because of how recognizable it is thanks to its twists and its sequels. Anthony Perkins make a great Norman Bates because he's both psychotic and sympathetic like a Lon Chaney character but without the makeup.

  • @ScaryReviews I don't know about that, Vertigo and Rebecca are fucking incredible

  • @ScaryReviews I agree! In my opinion, also, the fact that there ARE people LIKE Norman Bates, or WITH Norman Bates' "mental condition," LIVING IN THE MODERN ERA. If it WASN'T FOR Psycho, I DON'T THINK I'd be a horror fan, TODAY.

  • this might be my favorite black and white movie ever

  • it also had the longest trailer

    it's 6 minutes

  • @KirbyInSocks wow

  • this movies is sick the remake 100 times nicer

  • Whenever there's a ridiculous overkill scene in movies (ie the shower scene), I always ask "Jeez, do ya think you stabbed/shot him/her enough yet?" in a sarcastic voice. Don't really know why I do it, maybe I'm a bit PSYCHO! (see wut i did thar?)

  • ree ree ree ree

  • i wanna so watch this movie, and i can't find it, so as frankenstein

  • one of the best slashers ever

  • you should have mentioned the guy psychos based on. (Ed Gein)

  • @IMZEECATMAN Ed Gein inspired a lot of slasher films, so it would've been redundant.

  • @Bauglir100 They already made a film about Ed Gein called... well Ed Gein. Worth checking out.

  • i remember the high axiouty showow scean

  • No "Rosemary's Baby" ????

  • That's Waynes world with mike myers

  • @itachinorman It was Wayne's World, but the clip showed in this featured Dana Carvey.

  • that scene never fails to disturb me... the noises are so awful, you can almost feel the knife stabbing you... awesome movie

  • The father of slashers....

  • What's the movie, where the guy is stabbing the chicken?

  • Love Alfred Hitchcock!!!

  • just imagine if you were in the shower, and you see someone with a knife open the curtain/door.

  • i saw this in my art of film class. i actually jumped during the shower scene even though you saw Norman outside the curtains. it was so sudden and the music was perfect.

  • Birth of the Slasher right there.

  • the real shock in my opinion was when you find out who the killer really is. you find out at the exact same time the movie decides to scare the crap out of you.

  • Comment removed

  • I couldn't take a shower without staring at the door for months after I saw this film.

  • @TenderTrap86 In my opinion, Alfred Hitchcock got his point across! In my opinion, what Psycho did for shower-taking, JAWS did for swimming, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre did for meat-eating!

  • the name of her lover was sam loomis, which was the of the doctor in halloween

  • @Thecrazyboy5 They did that in the remake and it's worse than ever

  • REEEREEEREEEREEEREEEREEEEREEE

  • Respond to this video...this is maen

  • Don't forget Saul Bass, the man who did the graphics for the beginnings of lots of Hitchcock films.

    Video editors should know Saul!

  • L0L Waynes World

  • Why can't they happen in real life? I want my Zombie apocalypse and not that running zombie B.S.

  • ree ree ree

    lol waynes world

  • I dont get why people say "killer the star at the BEGINNING of the film" if you look at the runtime, she dies a little over an hour into it and its 1hr 48min long so acutaly she dies at the end of the middle act

  • He said EARLY in the film actually. Since a star often dies in the last 10 minutes I'd say that 48 minutes before it ends is early.

  • in wasnt referencing the nerd's review i was commenting on the film itself and almost every person says BEGINNING like she dies 15 minutes in.

well everyone has their different perspective on movies.

  • Oh... I noticed as I went longer in the video that he says 'Beginning'...

I'm glad that there are a reasonable person on Youtube! =D

  • Hey Mr. Donut Man whos trying to kill you?

    I don't know but he'd better not!

    *stab*

    Oh no thats not good!

  • 00:50

citizen Kane dies in the VERY beginning of the movie.

  • That's not what he meant. Kane dies at the beginning, yes, but he's still the star, since the movie is flashbacks to his life, and he's there throughout the film.

He meant Janet Leigh was a big star, and billed as the lead actress, so everyone who saw the film expected her to be in it the whole way, instead she's killed off a short way into it, and that's the end of her. It was a big twist for 1960.

  • Lol, I would never expect a Garth refference in a monster movie review! But it work'ed really well, I do know this scene, I saw it not only in movies but in cartoons also!

  • Pyscho is truly a great classic I have seen and both read it and they were great

  • WAYNE'S WORLD!

  • ee ee ee ee ee lol wayne's world :)

  • lol this reminds me of sayonara zetsubou sensei psycho spoof XD

  • do you know Psycho was the first film to show a toilet being flush.

  • REE REE REE REE lol im srry but thats soo funny

  • you don't get movies,kikblava.

youre a baby minded dumbass with ADD who cant stand dialogue at all.

  • Hey, I wouldnt criticize ADD if I were you. Millions of people have it, including myself and the maker of this video.

  • i have it too

    and i have OCD :L

  • having OCD sucks ehh

  • yee gets realy annoying

  • Yeah, but, should it matter?

  • I saw Psycho at college today and it was a good movie. I was expecting the shower scene to be at the beginning, rather than half way through.

There was too much build up which was just overkill for me, but the kills were really satisfying.
