even pro pro player doesnt use this technique offen but rafa. i just watched many ao2012 match, many players still use classic forehand not rafa's forehand or across body forehand, they just do common forehand that end high on left shoulder.
I would not try learn to hit a forehand like Rafael Nadal because it is just b"bullshit" it is not that I am thinking Nadal can' t play tennis but his forehand just looks too crazy for me this technique should not be the one of a tennis player because you need quite strong muscles to play a full match with this kind of forehand
@DerSozialeOeko This adds a little bit of topspin to your shot. I do it all the time. You don't need muscles, just develop the right technique and you'll get the hang of it. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this kind of shot unless you want to try something new.
At first he would use a Western Grip but Vic Braden told Uncle Toni to tell Nadal to use a Semi Western grip because that would allow him to play better in hard court.
wow dude, i actually agree with mostly everything u say in ur videos. we also have similar style, in swing in grip. i even learned how to play lefty and swing like nadal, and have to agree with you that at first i didnt hit the ball in front of me, and i didnt follow through foreward before coming around the head. but as i wanted to improve the shots pace, i eventually fixed it. if u followthrough up to early, u not only lose pace, it also makes it harder for you to hit balls that sit up
@yasinozkan i'm not 100% sure but it looks like a Semi Western. He also uses a 4 1/4 grip size which is very small for him. IMO, that is what allows him to whip the racquet around so fast and get tremendous topspin.
@lockandrolltennis at first i thought it was complete western cuz all the commentators always say it is, but i dont think so. its slightly semi western, and he leaves a space between his pointer and middle finger, if that makes any sense. and i think thats because hes using such a small grip size for his big hands, that he kinda needa to spread his fingers out to get a proper gripping on it. by doing this it locks the grip in place, and allows him to use a smaller grip size to help produce spin
@lockandrolltennis I'm pretty sure he does. to hit the "buggy whip" you need the western grip. it would be too difficult to do it otherwise. I'm actually speaking of personal experience.
TY!

Absolutely right what you say when kids try to emulate Rafa´s follow through: They hit late. At the end the shot is a mess
