hey, could u please tell me why the fuck when i put an mp3 in Audacity, it cuts off the half the sound? sorry im kinda pissed off, been trying so many programs to edit a sound , and nothing has worked, and nothing seems to work with the .MSWMM file type, what a piece of shit!
I need help with something. I'm trying to add sound effects to an audio file, but every time I add the sound effect file to the bar, it starts at the beginning of the editor and I can't figure out how to position the clip exactly where I want it, in sync with the audio file. What do I do?
@monsterjamkid2 - that's my real voice/speaking style when I'm in front of a microphone. I guess I sound robotic(?) cause mic's make me a bit nervous unless i'm playing a character. I think i sound more 'human' in my 'Smileys Love-life' video - maybe more in the second half, the first half is a bit slow paced.
normalizing is good especially when you want to increase the volume of a section of a song more than you can with a rubber band (the hourglass shapped button in the upper left of the screen). if you aren't making major UPWARDS volume adjustments, it's easier to just use the rubber band button which also lets you adjust volume of specific sections of audio or draw fadeouts.
audacity only saves mp3s in lousy 128kbs format. it's best to save as WAVs then convert to mp3 externally
I downloaded it, and its great, but theres gotta be an easier and quicker way to line a number of tracks together so that they play one after the other. Sort of like a playlist? The method that i'm using just takes too much unnecesary time.
I only have one simple question, I have a song that only comes out of one speaker, and I am wanting the music to come out of both, and the same time. Will this editor do that? Thanks a bunch. :)
It can. At 1:19 in the video is the 2 channel 'graph' of a stereo sound file. If the file is at fault (in your song) one of those channels will be empty. Copy and paste the one channel into the other. It won't be true stereo but both speakers will play.
yes with errors, sometimes (not always) it crashes on me, SAVE OFTEN...i have x64 Vista Home premium it works w/ some issues(for me) after u make some changes in preferences...u have to select ur audio card/motherboard in pref.
Also...the wave out doesnt work on al vista machines, some companys disabled it, like my hp laptop wont let me use it, but other companies have left it in so depending on ur model that may or not work.
To 'install' LAME - you don't overwrite anything (it works more like a plug-in). Unzip the file to a folder, maybe call it 'Audacity LAME'. The LAME folder can be anywhere - just remember where it is.
The next time you have an audio file in Audacity - go to the 'Menu toolbar' at the top and click on "File" then ''export as MP3" and Audacity will ask you to locate your MP3 encoder. - just browse to it. Audacity will remember where it is once you let it know where to locate it.
mewtwoschaos, You didn't provide any details on How you tried to do the things you mentioned so let's start with basics.
There are different versions of Audacity for - Windows, Apple and Linux - Did you get the right one? Also there are 'beta' and 'stable' versions - stick with the 'stable' one. (con't)
(mewtwoschaos) - Did you try the 'Help' file that comes with Audacity? Other than that, you can post a more detailed message of how you tried to do those things or try watching a tutorial thats more in depth than my demo. Hope this helps.
whats the right version. and i copyed the part i wanted out of it and hit cut nothing happend also the effects woulnd work it wouldnt let me select any of them.
zelgadiss -Yes, like a text editor, you can cut or copy and paste any audio file into/out of the file you are working on. You can also 'merge' 2 or more audio files together (example- put background music behind your naration so they play at the same time). verso360 has a tutorial on how to do that (I'll post the link in a message on your profile/channel).
seanw23 - You can put any audio file in the background behind another audio file. If you are asking if you can 'rip' Just the vocals from a song to use with different instrumental music... I don't know - I've never seen that done.
wheres the link??!?!?

Thank you very much.
This helped me edit a song extracted from a video so I only heard the song part and not the beginning sequence that was a character speaking.
Cheers
