  • LISTEN CAREFULLY. The TurboGrafx may be a 8-bit console, however, it has a 16-bit graphics unit. Wow, amazing. THE POINT IS THE SEGA GENESIS IS TRUE 16-BIT. It runs a Motorola 68000 processor that is 16-BIT/32-BITS and happened to be used in Apple's older Macintoshes. Now, I agree, the Sega Genesis's graphic capabilities are limited, sure, but I don't understand why you pretend the TurboGrafx (God, I hate pronouncing that) is 16-bit when there is technical evidence it ISN'T. Care to elaborate?

  • @PuyoPuyoSon

    Right, the TG16 isn't really 16-bit,

but it doesn't matter much since Mhz is more important than BITS,

and both the Genesis and the TG16 runs at 7Mhz.

They were both quite powerful for the time.

The SNES is the least powerful of the three and it runs at 3.5Mhz.

  • @bigolebadassbob That's not quite right. An 8 and 16 bit CPU running at the same clock usually results in the 16bit processor with a lot more processing power. That said, no one factor is most important but rather how the total unit performs. The Turbo had a weaker CPU, but a great graphics chip so it had an edge in color or clarity but the Gen could achieve CPU intensive stuff like multi-levels of scrolling and other visual effects and some very fast game play.

  • Go Turbografx! A better system all around!

  • Of course the Turbo Duo version looks better.

Turbo is able to put far more colors on screen at once than Genesis (482 vs 64) and the turbo is making use of the Super CD-ROM2 format which gives it CD capacity and 2 megabits (256K) of RAM. The Genesis version has to make due with a tiny 4 megabit cartridge and 64K RAM.

  • Wow!!! The Genesis is absolute dogg$hit. I have no respect for that P.O.S now! Nice Video!!!

  • @TheBaron19791111 You should note that this video is misleading, this is not "stock" TG16...this is TG16 + CD-ROM + super system card (or a turbo-duo which was the combined unit). It would be crazy if it wasn't a better port with all the add-ons. Also, unless you bought a 6 button controller, the two button turbo pad is pretty hard to use....and it's only one player on TG16

  • @dtester

I see. Anyhow, I think both the TG16 and the Genesis had some great arcade ports. Some games were better on the Genesis (e.g. Strider, Golden Axe), and some better on the TG16 (e.g. Fatal Fury Special, Twin Cobra).
