Major ones are New Order and possibly Ultravox. Also, check out A-ha's first album...songs like "Sun Always Shines on TV" and "Train of Thought." Check out "State of the Nation" by Industry. Depeche Mode as you've already mentioned, but DM is a bit darker...as are the Psychedelic Furs. Other potential influences: The Cars, Human League, Missing Persons, Modern Talking.
