The big bopper is so cool! I only wish I had knowledge of this great musical master as the big bopper sooner, the generations of today have not the appreciation of rare treasures as this great American man THe Big Bopper!
so true i sit here and listen to the 50's and 60's music all the time my mom listened to this great music while i was growing up and i still love it its not that crap that some people come out with these days it had meaning unlike talking about "bitches" and drugs or killing
@LEADFOOT63 So true, man. But still, there's some rare exception: I've been listening to 50's and 40's music since I was 14. Im 21 now and Im still in love with these amazing sounds. Real music will never die. Long Live Rock 'n' Roll.
So the word is world then? lol Cool BB. He once hold the world record as DJ talking and spinning the records for the longest time sometimes in the '50s. Think he was allowed a 5 min pause every hr and at end he was hallucinating because deprived of sleep.
It is world or whirl. And whirl makes ZERO sense. I cannot find a copy of the lyrics. It could be "A teenage moon and a rock and roll whirl" but I don't see how the latter makes sense.
I also googled for the lyrics but ended up with zero. But it must be world! Remarkable little about Jiles P Richardson aka Jape (nickname, due to his 2 first initials) aka Big Bopper on the net and just lyrics to about 5 of the songs he sung. Compare that to Eddie Cochran (I'm a big fan of him). There I can find about all his lyrics. BTW, you US people, can you answer me a 25 year old question. What does Chantilly in "Chantilly Lace" mean? Does it mean anything at all? I mean, maybe it's...
Cont...maybe it's only there for rhyme purpose. According to one source Jayne Mansfield made an 'answer song' entitled "That Makes It"....gonna check it...
Yes, Ive read the same stuff. So, thanks for the info?
Anyway, Chantilly lace is a delicate kind of bobbin lace. Bobbin lace suggest that it is sewn with a machine to me. I'll look into it more in a bit. But it IS a real type of lace
Jayne Mansfield sang "That Makes It" in the classic 1966 motion picture, "Las Vegas Hillbillys", in which she starred alongside Don Bowman, Mamie Van Doren and the great Ferlin Husky, who was absolutely brilliant therein as Woody Weathersby. The film features many great live clips by such country legends as Bill Anderson, Connie Smith, Sonny James, Wilma Burgess and Del Reeves.
Chantilly, France is known for their lace: Enc. Brittanica: "bobbin lace made at Chantilly, north of Paris, from the 17th century; the silk laces for which Chantilly is famous date from the 18th century. In the 19th century both black and white laces were made in matte silk. Half-stitch was used for the solid design areas, giving the lace a light and airy appearance. The background was a handmade net worked in continuity with the design."
I made my coworker dance to this with me the other day. They think I'm insane but I;m crazy about this. How poetic is that line? "It's a teenage moon in a rock and roll word"
For a guy who was around as a singer for such a short time he sure made a lot of records! Johnny Winter told me that he used to listen to the Big Bopper's radio show when he was growing up in Beaumont. Waaaay cool!
The Bopper had a nice voice when he wasn't goofing off.

For 'EPBOULEVARD': I know this guy they call The
Big Bopper hasn't been around since that deadly
plane crash back in '59. Still, it's new to me, too. If you haven't seen (or heard) it before
it's ALWAYS NEW to you! Either way, this is a
fine song!
