Actually there is no "Muay Buran" (Buran is of Khmer origin). Muay Buran loosely means "ancient fighting" (styles). No one learned the Muay Buran style, they would insted have learned- Muay Korat, Muay Chaiya, Muay Lopburi ect... these are differant styles from differant regions of Thailand and have differant strengths. These were the precursors of modern Muay Thai and would all be under the heading of Muay Buran.
@Buxxby That is true, however if i said "Karate" no one learns that either, it means empty hand and could refer to many styles, i dont limit myself to styles they have limits martial artists do not, impressive knowledge btw as u know many martial arts are hybrids of ancient techniques including the combat sport of Muay thai "Thai Boxing" good eye for that, nice to see educated martial artists... I have my own habits and have trained in traditional Thai techniques (Muay Thai gym) as well
Muay thai fighters have good hands and powerful kicks, but their bread and butter its the clinch...they have devastating elbows and knees from there and even some throws...but my favorite technique is the flyng knee, I think the jumping elbows are banned cause they are way too dangerous... correct me if im wrong...also Im not a striker so Im assuming a lot of things Im a blue belt in Gracie Barra BJJ by the way
this is a very strong style......I.m TKD AND AIKIDO MASTER,,,but i don't want fight against Muai Thai fighter....it.s also too dangerous in beginner fighter...
This Jason guy is supposed to be a pro mma fighter why does it seem he has never even seen Muay Thai or realize the damage you can do with knees and elbows?
Thai people have a good diet, those guys train Muay'thai from the age of 6,,,they are pure bone and muscle,,,and a good diet and a extremely good condition, wich keeps there metabolisme high,+ they are training from the age of 6 so there bones are adjusted to al the kicking and smashing making there bones more larger
muay'thai is bloody, brutal, but the best sport there is,except from Muay'boran!
thai people are like that by nature, they also have better diets than americans, they have much less body fat than americans based on their diet and phylical conditioning which keeps their matabolism at a high.
Thai men for the most part are all pretty skinny. These guys LIVE Muay Thai, and condition non stop. like nepaaiskinamas said, next to no body fat, the rest is muscle, and bones.
It is best if you would firstly go to Laos and learn Muay Lao as it is cheaper and is a much closer relative to Muay Thai except it is Muay Boran in style.

Man i train in Muay Thai but im in america so you know....there's no really good Thai gyms here they say they are but there just th watered down versions of muay thai and half the fuckin instructors only know the basics then try to throw sum american Kick-Boxing on it bitch i didnt ask for Kick boxing i asked for thai Boxing itz sad how america steals martial arts and fuck'em up by Modifying them.I understand know why we get beat in K-1
but man these guys in Thailand are the real fighters
And my goodness, muay thai and tae kwon do should respect each other. they come from very similar situations, both styles were born from hundreds or perhaps thousands of years of war and combat. While muay thai still retains its original form (due to its lack of civilization development), tkd has been commercialized because korea developed into one of the big dogs in the world so the need for real tkd for the public has been diminished. Korean army i heard still retains most of its original form
Okay. Sorry but this has to be said. TaeKwonDo in America generally sucks, it has become more of a sport than a martial art, and it has become extrememly comercialized. TaeKwonDo, the way it's meant to be done, doesn't. It depends on the school, the teacher, and most of all the person. I have seen Tae Kwon Do fighters who are beasts, as well as ones who are gay. Learn more about the Martial Art before you trash it, and don't base your opinion on the commercialized crap that has become mainstream
TaeKwonDo taught in Korea, and TaeKwonDo schools anywhere that focus more on the actual techniques and skills from the style before it was corrupted are great.
Probably the best striking martial art, along with boxing (most successful striking styles in MMA). In Muay Thai you can do more moves than in boxing though. So I think it's better.
Indeed. A MT practitioner who's got some shoot wrestling under his belt (I prefer Sambo myself) is extremely dangerous because of how quickly a takedown can be combined with heavy strikes.
yeah grapples I even say it's a 50/50% could win or lose but also depends how skilled both fighters because they will do whatever it take not to be grabbed or whatever also they have some grapple moves but they hardy ever use it, like a MMA or UFC fighter.
I learn muay thai in sheffield and its deverstating. i love the sport and im proud to call my self a Thai boxer, so yeah fought against a Thai boxer in sparring and you do come out with bruisers. the worst thing about it is clashing shins though when the trainer says the word my spine goes cold, it fucking hurts, yeah its true for some degree most of ufc and mma is fuaght from the ground.witch can be at times one of the boring things about it, id dont want to see some one tapped out.
eh, i agree the commercialized form of tkd now is nothing compared to muay thai. But you should know, tkd was once as brutal and deadly as muay thai. TKD was a complete form of martial arts, consisting of punching, kicking, trapping, take downs, grappling, ground fight, submissions, everything. TKD was for military but it's been bastardized by the business and sporting industry. Did u know that the original tkd founded by gen.choi had 7 basic elbow strikes?
not gonna lie i like how they wrap their hands back then..shit is sick..haha "they dipped it in water to harden the fibers" haha..tight...but yea u can do it witout that..just on contact turn fist and pull down usually or across..u can cut em like a blade if u on a hard enough spot

i personally enjoy and practice boxin more than muay tai i guess aint bad...but my punches hit hard..u better hope u knock me off my feet which is hard to do when im beatin ur face in...and the way u hold ur hands arent good for boxin..ill be stickin jabs in that shit and when u close in ill just start doin combos... a quick little 1 3 ..just encase u dont know, a left jab since im orthodox...and a right hook...and ud be thinkin u were in heaven..but naw its just the lights ur lookin up at..haha
you will be bashing nothing. as soon as you throw a punch you will over extend your body leaving your legs or lower torso exposed and you will have a couple broke rips. ive trained in muay thai for 2 years and ive faced many "boxers" before and destroyed them.
took me about a year to really become flexible enough to preform some of the stuff, its been almost 3 years now and im considered an advanced student. not nearly as good as some people who train their whole lives though
that's cool. my initial reply to you was like 7 months ago though. lol. since then i've been training in muay thai. been 6 months now. i don't intend to fight though it's just for self-defense. i got the hang of the basics for about 3 months. it's all good. i love the sport. :)
wats betta muay boran or muay thai i thought muay thai was jus muay boran wiv rules so that would mean boran was better but i would lyk 2 no cos im not sure
Muay Boran is more formed and contains no rules. I started out learning Muay Thai but I dropped that after a year when I heard of Muay Boran. Muay Boran is what true fighting is all about.
correction man true taht muai was "fromed" in thailand but muai boran is cambodian thai took it from us as well as our land when we got ambushed by 3 differnt counrys so we lost
I think that your answer can be proved by only knowing that, the martial art that is known as one of the best fighting styles on one-vs-one (proved by the MMA competitions for 15 years) is MUAY THAI, and not Khmer boxing or any other similiar-MT-style.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why are you so ignorant? But i guess with a name such as muaythai66deathmetal its only expected. Do yourself a favour and read some history. The only thing thailand is truly no.1at is sex trade.
the heavy bag does toughin a bit but not as much as punching brick or somthing like that ... i do it and seems to work vvveeerrryy wel in my fights but if your not up to punching somthing that hard then o well lol...your choice not mine..Good luck .
yea, that can seriously dammage your hands, use sand or slingshot ammo, i use bbs, but im going to use the steel stuff when i cant feel it when i hit those
you're right. its pretty nonsense to tell that your punching brickstones, our bones would break if someone would do that. maybe thats the way he boast supernatural physical power.
all these weight and power and like bla bla is going on my nervs...
Did you saw that human weapn thing about Judo ?
It was realy dramatic...
I am a Judo practiosioner myself, and it can be a dangerous martial art. But Kano formed it for a ingurefree sparring, this part was complety left out. Much shittalking less facts in human weapon...
mma is not one martial arts but multiple martials arts hence why its called mixed martial arts of course if you take the best things out of many arts then its going to be better then one single one
you are right. There are movements which you can do with developt arms and legs like ours. So the first human "fighters" were the first humans. But the question is, how good was their technik.
But bascily i agree with you, and its the best answer to this never ending converstion.
Who were the first people to start fighting? Was it the Indians? Chinese? Greeks? Imagine a situation where there's no tech knowledge to make guns or other weapons more sophisticated than a crude knife from bronze or iron. What you will get is people fighting with what they can make and hold, like traditional martial arts. So which was the first nation/race to start fighting? It's a ridiculous question.
anyone of you know the name of that indian martial art? it was called pallakahayu or something like that. something with a "p" that's all i know. it's supposedly the very oldest of all martial arts.
plz understand muay thai originated from cambodia. it was a branch off of an ancient khmer martial art called Bokator. why do you think kun khmer and muay thai are so alike in every aspect? because they are the same thing!

many people who said to learn muay only learn a part of muay thai
because many moves of muay thai is banned cause they are too dangerous.
Muay Thai as we are seeing as sports today can't be called 100% muay thai.
Muay Thai was invented to fight in battlefields and that means TO KILL.
You have to posses a strong body to withstand all those deadful attacks.

that's cool. my initial reply to you was like 7 months ago though. lol. since then i've been training in muay thai. been 6 months now. i don't intend to fight though it's just for self-defense. i got the hang of the basics for about 3 months. it's all good. i love the sport. :)

Boxing in all fairness sucks compared to Muay Thai and Muay Boran. Watch some of Tony Jaa's demonstrations and you'll see why.

Please describe some more for me how you would randomly pound my face in. I find it very interesting and I am both impressed and scared. [/sarcasm]

wats betta muay boran or muay thai i thought muay thai was jus muay boran wiv rules so that would mean boran was better but i would lyk 2 no cos im not sure

y use grammer on a computer
sasha28192 3 years ago
Muay Boran is more formed and contains no rules. I started out learning Muay Thai but I dropped that after a year when I heard of Muay Boran. Muay Boran is what true fighting is all about.

MuayThai was original from THAILAND
MuayThai had many branches too.
Such as "MuayThai Boran", "MuayThai Chaiya".
MuayThai66DeathMetal 4 years ago 3
correction man true taht muai was "fromed" in thailand but muai boran is cambodian thai took it from us as well as our land when we got ambushed by 3 differnt counrys so we lost
KhmaiSouljia93 4 years ago
haha nice to talk with you BITCH, and I dont' wanna stop too...
Cambodia or Khmer've tried to copy MuayThai from THAILAND.
Look at the wars in many years ago... or World War. THAILAND is No.1 in SouthEastAsia. How come Thai people want to copy your Shit!!!!
CAMBODIA or KHMER copied everything from THAILAND even Language and Culture!!!!!!!!
MuayThai66DeathMetal 4 years ago 3
I think that your answer can be proved by only knowing that, the martial art that is known as one of the best fighting styles on one-vs-one (proved by the MMA competitions for 15 years) is MUAY THAI, and not Khmer boxing or any other similiar-MT-style.

Why are you so ignorant? But i guess with a name such as muaythai66deathmetal its only expected. Do yourself a favour and read some history. The only thing thailand is truly no.1at is sex trade.
GGSBY 3 years ago
Thailand has a great history and people can be very tough there. They are smiling but when they are pissed off... run.

your bones are 40x stronger then cement
sourD420 4 years ago
that's completely false. the only bone in the body that's comparable to cement is the femur.

I think he wanted to mean 40x stronger than FRESH cement XD

the heavy bag does toughin a bit but not as much as punching brick or somthing like that ... i do it and seems to work vvveeerrryy wel in my fights but if your not up to punching somthing that hard then o well lol...your choice not mine..Good luck .
D00Gi3xfuck 4 years ago
You're punchin brickstones or am I understanding just wrong? I'm just curious, cause it should damage your bones also.
Funzebub 4 years ago
yea, that can seriously dammage your hands, use sand or slingshot ammo, i use bbs, but im going to use the steel stuff when i cant feel it when i hit those
bagman234 4 years ago
Well, I use a heavybag with sand. I'm more for the classical stuff. And it works for me.
Never tried bbs.
Funzebub 4 years ago
you're right. its pretty nonsense to tell that your punching brickstones, our bones would break if someone would do that. maybe thats the way he boast supernatural physical power.
smartbomb66 4 years ago
well, if you break your hand, you will form a calcium deposit, and that will make it almost impossible to break it again if it forms right
bagman234 4 years ago
Fake Name not Original name.

does hitting those heavy bags toughen the shins and fists? i really need to know, because ive lost every match of bloody knuckles in the last year :(
bagman234 4 years ago
Yes it does! I do muay thai and it used to kill. Now my shins and fists are covered in callouses and my nerves are somewhat deadened.
Ssamonoske 4 years ago
Yeah it works.
You should also practice some chinese iron palm training, it never hurts.
Thunderhouse2 4 years ago
i filled a pillow case with BBs, and ive been hitting that about 3000 times every other day for the last few days on each hand, will that work?
bagman234 4 years ago
Eventually, but be careful not to maim your hands.
Thunderhouse2 4 years ago
lol, how long will that take? should i use something bigger like slingshot ammo?
bagman234 4 years ago
take it easy, its not going to happen over night make sure you dont do to many reps
muaythaikickboxah 4 years ago
being hit by a muay thai practitioner's kick is the equivalent of being slugged with a baseball...

Did you saw that human weapn thing about Judo ?
It was realy dramatic...
I am a Judo practiosioner myself, and it can be a dangerous martial art. But Kano formed it for a ingurefree sparring, this part was complety left out. Much shittalking less facts in human weapon...
damuschka 4 years ago
it's not our fault that the best fighting style in the world is the strongest.
a knee equals a car hitting you at 35 miles an hour.
amerikanerMarinen 4 years ago
And my ballz equal bla bla bla... whatever dude...
But i agree that MMA is the best martial arts in non-weaponcombat.
damuschka 4 years ago
mma is not one martial arts but multiple martials arts hence why its called mixed martial arts of course if you take the best things out of many arts then its going to be better then one single one
muaythaikickboxah 4 years ago
yeah, you wouldn't have any balls anymore after a knee dumbshit
amerikanerMarinen 4 years ago
MMA means mixed martial arts by the way, so i don't know how MMA can be the best martial art, when its a collaboration of several.

cavemen were first
dieselislife2 4 years ago
you are right. There are movements which you can do with developt arms and legs like ours. So the first human "fighters" were the first humans. But the question is, how good was their technik.
But bascily i agree with you, and its the best answer to this never ending converstion.
Thank you !
damuschka 4 years ago
Who were the first people to start fighting? Was it the Indians? Chinese? Greeks? Imagine a situation where there's no tech knowledge to make guns or other weapons more sophisticated than a crude knife from bronze or iron. What you will get is people fighting with what they can make and hold, like traditional martial arts. So which was the first nation/race to start fighting? It's a ridiculous question.

the term "human cock fighting" is just a little insulting.

Well i prefer that to "human dick fighting" lol

FU...
Heared of Pankration ? And Shaolin has its roots in India...
so i would say mainly martial arts came from india and Greek
damuschka 4 years ago
wow, odd way to look at it.
but pankration is ONE martial arts.
dozens more are in Japan, and dozens more than that in china. (and like 3 in america, a couple in thailand, one in iraq and one in france)
I think its all the oriental asian counries.
Gerbilmeister 4 years ago
You are speaking of nowerdays.
But the roots are laying somewhere else...
damuschka 4 years ago
oh. A'ight!
Gerbilmeister 4 years ago
anyone of you know the name of that indian martial art? it was called pallakahayu or something like that. something with a "p" that's all i know. it's supposedly the very oldest of all martial arts.
