In fact, this video was made by famous French director Claude Lelouch... And was probably shot in a forest near Paris (like the "Bois de Boulogne" or the "Bois de Vincennes"). The costume of the policemen at the end of the video are typical of the French "gendarmerie".
Ein wirkliches gutes instrumental Lied, und das Video erst, absolut top, so richtig noch von Hand gemacht und nicht wie heute üblich vieles am Computer zusammengebastelt.
Attack of the Water Heater Monsters. Totally mad video but I can't stop watching it. At first thought it was a scene from some bad Japanese sci-fi film from the '60s.
The poor robots! Here's us high and mighty humans saying they have no feelings, yet they must complex and beautiful minds and emotional range to produce such wonders as these.
awesome! haha, funny shit. great song, stupidious as fuck! just as great as telstar or maybe even better! they never earned a cent from their music I heard, a shame for these instrumental wizards!
I actually thought this was some modern retro video (affectionate) piss take until they took the helmets off! Absolutely amazing little film of one of my favourite 45s.
LOve this vid first saw it at Butlins on vid juke box cost 1shilling Incidently the drummer was Clem Cattini formally with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates and has played on over 50 No 1s check his side for these hits
This would have been filmed in either late 1962 or early 1963 - Heinz left the band about Feb/March 1963. Also there is video of them playing 'The Ice-cream Man'.
This video probably cost about 5 shillings to make, including the fish and chip supper for the cast and crew!!
Nonetheless, it's absolutely brilliant! So evocative of the time between Elvis and the Beatles when pure, fab pop like this would get into the charts. Thx for posting.
(For those too young to remember, 5 shillings, it's about 25p in modern money)
@cjm52 In old English money there were 240 old pennies to the pound, 20 shillings to the pound and 12 old pennies in a shilling. Confusing yes, but we got used to it.
I actually found decimalisation hard to get used too!!
@johnniescarlett By heck! I'd expected you could buy a Tornadoes comic and an ice-cream for a bob, but a top of the pops video and treat of the era for supper - to say nothing of feeding an entire working team - with just five shillings?? Why, in that case couldn't a mere tuppence or even a bloomin' penny have bought space comics and ice-creams?
Man, what a group. I love the Tornados and Joe Meek too. Any keeners remember the Tornados song "Dreams Do Come True?" That song is just amazingly beautiful and fun.
for a moment in this video I really thought robots *could* feel love...but halfway through I realized I was tricked again...that it only belongs to the human and we shed an electric tear once more
Wow. Just when you think youve seen the weirdest youtube has to offer.....you allways find something weirder. Pretty catchy tune! Must check out there other stuff...
cool song from 1963 cool video as well the tornados are often forgotten in todays music id rather listen to them than the bealtes because they are overatted
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some trading cards of 1960's chart topping stars: The Tornados, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, Adam Faith, Billy Furry, Frank Sinatra, Lonnie Donegan, and Shirley Bassey.
Delighted to see this finally! I had heard about it but never saw it. The last trolleybus ran past 304 Holloway Road in 1960 (Robot actually charted in March 1963). Yes, George Bellamy was a guitarist in the band. At least one of them appears to be missing from the video - I can make out Heinz Burt, Clam Cattini and Alan Caddy. Thanks so much for posting this!
Legend has it that the background twanging noise was the sound of the trolleybus poles running along the overhead wires outside Joe Meeks office studio in Holloway Road.
If this was made in 1964 that postdates the last trolleybuses there by three years. This in turn suggests that Joe Meek was professional enough tp record and archive the sound for future reference.
