  • And Horn and Downes went on to do the first video ever shown on MTV

  • @starofradiance Horn and Downes actually did the 'Video killed the Radio star' thing BEFORE joining YES.,,,just saying.

  • One of the best bass lines EVER written!

  • My problem with this is Horn is an Anderson wannabe, now just imagine Phil Anselmo singing for Yes....fuck ya

  • That bass... it's so amazing!

  • I love that song..

  • So Fantastic Yes !! with Jon in vocals or in this case with Trevor Horn, another great musician, nowdays this kind of music don't make any more, those times, ending the 70's and beginning the 80's, was made The Best rock music ever,of so incredible quality, .//

  • Is that the guy from the Bugles singing?

  • @tetedepoulet Yes.

  • @tetedepoulet Yes.

  • FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK AND DOUBLE FUCK!!!! FUCKING PERFECTION! THE HAMMER MAN.

  • Damn, Steve kills it on this album.

  • Run like an athlete or die like a dead beaten speed freak - heavy lyrics man!

  • Trevor Horn is a fine record producer, but he was horrible as a singer in Yes! That being said, Drama was an interesting album. Incidentally, the song White Car, was inspired by Chris Squire and Trevor Horn seeing Gary Numan tearing around the streets of London in a White Corvette that he bought from the proceeds of his The Pleasure Principle Album.

  • @filbertflange How can you say something so utterly ridiculous? A "horrible singer"? This is some of Yes' finest work, and Trevor Horn's voice fits perfectly here. These songs are mesmerizing, one after the other. I loved this album from day one, and his voice is a key ingredient that sets this record apart. Get real.

  • @MillionthUsername did you see them in concert? Trevor's voice was well suited for the material on Drama, but it wasn't up to snuff in trying to recreate Jon Anderson's vocals on earlier selections such as Heart of the Sunrise or Perpetual Change. He just didn't have the range for it. And he had a lot of trouble remembering the lyrics during the two shows I saw him singing; in Buffalo and Toronto.

  • @filbertflange No, I didn't see him in concert. His voice seems plenty high enough to sing Yes songs, though. It's a different thing to say he was not up to snuff on tour than saying he is a "horrible singer." No one would get that impression from listening to this record. It just seems like you're going out of your way to put him down needlessly.

  • @MillionthUsername I think he did a good job on the album, and his voice wasn't bad on any of the Buggles material. But singing Yes music live was not his forte. I guess calling him a horrible singer without quantifying the criticism was wrong. I will give him credit, he did try to his best.

  • ☆AMAZING!! Steve Howe sounds like he is hovering over the stratosphere, freed from everything on earth. Yes remains Yes without John and Rick.

  • LOLZZ

  • I had no idea Jon Cusack sang for Yes in the 80s... I kid, I kid... Awesome song, awesome album :-)

  • The BEST production of a YES album ever made...hands down...(MY OPINION)

  • Bazinga!!!

  • Thought he looked a bit young to be Rick Wakeman - thought RIck played on this album.....

  • omg freemason simbol "A" lighting.

  • Drama could well be the greatest album ever recorded. there, i said it! i don't care!

  • WHAT AN EPIC <3

  • Great(:

  • Pure genius.

  • Sonic, acoustic art in its highest form.

  • 1:43 Could that be Capt. Kangaroo's son? lol :) I'm just sayin. Look that hair and that red jacket. At least there's no ping-pong balls falling on his head in this video. lol

I miss that show. I used to watch it when I was a kid. No dissing of YES intended. I listen to most of the YES music.

  • the buggles guy is weird

  • 23 people dont like rock music

  • @alvarofblanco I wouldn't exactly call this rock, sounds more like noodle-tronics.

  • excellent bass

  • @Mr88PANZERSS it is yes man ;)

  • Hey is it just me or does Trevor Horn look like Christofer Walken?

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FROM THE 1980 DRAMA ALBUM..THE 1ST WITHOUT JON ANDERSON...HORN DOES AN AWESOME JOB ON VOCALS AND GEOFF DOWNES HIS BUD FROM THE BUGGLES SHOWING WHY HE IS A TOP 5 KEYBOARD PLAYER..LUV GEOFF BEING BACK NOW WITH HOWE IN YES AND ASIA...WISH IT WAS HORN AGAIN SINGING INSTEAD OF BENOIT GARBAGE...BUT OF COURSE JON ANDERSON SHOULD BE SINGING ANYWAY..GOING TO SEE JON AND RICK WAKEMAN 2ITE IN PITTSBURGH..

  • @SOUNDCHASERX The reason Trevor Horn didn't stay in the band is because his voice wasn't holding out during live performance. He was really pushing his voice not only in range, but to sound similar to Jon Anderson....

  • Teriffic

  • what month and year was DRAMA released?

  • @The096757 1980.

  • Also, I LOVE how Trevor Horn sounds like Jon Anderson! VERY Cool!

Yep the 80's really had some AWSOME Music!

It was the BEST PART of that Decade as far as I'm concerned!

  • @MrTamadrummer3 They do sound alike but trevors voice is a little deeper though and kinda has a little tinge to it

  • LOL When I first heard this....I thought it was an earlier YES song, and that RUSH borrowed some of thier cadences and timming change ups. That is untill I found out it was from 1980. Then I realized it might have been more the other way around! If you listen to the Bass/Drums and the changes its VERY like Rush!

Great 'PROG ROCK' is Great 'PROG ROCK'!

    Period!

  • @MrTamadrummer3 Right. Yes needs to rip off RUSH. HA HA. RUSH always wanted to be YES and the POLICE, and DEVO and......

  • "If you could see all the roads I have traveled towards some unusable last equilibrium..."

I absolutely loved Drama. One of their best.

  • wow the 80s sure did mess up everyones style still quite a good piece of music though

  • Damn copy ! Get rid of the cover band and create something real then see how many years can survive.

  • I dream this song. Crazy. Good soundtrack to R.E.M. sleep!!!

  • superb song and music...............this is really progressive rock!

  • These guys manage to be awesome while looking like LMFAO. Much unlike LMFAO itself.

  • Bass line :D

  • This album never got the credit it deserved. Squire and Howe rocked it like there was no tomorrow. One of my favorites. Saw them– this Drama tour at the Cow Palace in 1980– twas awesome.

  • This is where learning scales comes in handy.

  • @wingnut: John left the band around this time (1980) so he could pursue his own solo career. In fact, he recorded an album with Greek composer Vangellis (yes, he of 'Chariots of Fire' fame...lol) in 1981... :^)

  • @jimascia thats not john thats trevor horn

  • @zackjp - Thanks for clearing that up for me. I had no idea that was Trevor Horn singing with Chris Squire. I actually like this version of Yes better than the original line-up. Regards.

  • YES with Trevor excelent.,the style buggles members are unique, expands the particular sounds of everyones , really great !!

  • Unbelievable musicianship from all the members. I can't believe the bass player also sang lead with Jon on Tempest Fugit. I am in AWE....

  • i find this is a very happy entrance in the 80's for a rock band

  • where the heck is john? they sound great!

  • This kicks so much ass!!!

  • Don't know if it was mentioned but they aren't playing it in this video, it seems to be a lip sync.

  • @alexcoe it's an overdub. They played it live in reality but they replaced it with the album version.

  • bass bass bass

  • ahhhh! all is true, but you forget rick wakeman..superb

  • and to me i actually liked patrick moraz over wakeman...i like moraz' style and presence and how he 'approached' Yes...which was really good! and he's an excellent keyboardist

  • yeah this was bad azz album..and much needed...a shot in the arm..but the vocals still sound like the original members..good album...progressive in a diff. direction at that time...kinda sounds like rush too...lol

  • this took Me back.. long enough drive to hear for the first time,Yes.. this was driving from South Paterson N.J to Garfield N.J.what a nice drive

  • Comment removed

  • So you drank the Obama Zombie Kool Aide eh?. Was not hard to figure out, you just confirm it. Thanks man :-) Are you honestly 38? Hard to believe reading when your reply but then again you are a blind sheep of the great Shepard Obama!

  • @TWR1961 No, kool-aid here, loser. I'm no big fan of pols, they're all bought and sold- but I know better than to let republicans near any power. Too bad you can't see fascism, bigotry, and class warfare right in your face. Too bad YOU drink the kool-aid and blame a "republican lite" for the many clear failings of the far right. Liars, religious frauds, tax cheats, race-baiters, who believe that only the super-rich and their willing christ-sucking slaves should have any voice in government.

  • Is this the studio recording ?

  • All the esence of Yes sound, really fantastic ...Geoff Downes making a great job...

  • I know that everyone likes Rick Wakeman but Geoff Downes is one talented guy....amazing keyboard player....

  • what a load of sh*t ...

  • All Yes music is great even some of the lesser known or pop stuff. No one could ever deny the unreal musical talent they possesed.I did enjoy Drama and everyone knocks Tormato but I loved it also.I also love Tales From Topagrafic Oceans which the critics hated also.

  • Pasan los años y con todas las formaciones siguen siendo GENIALES.

  • I Love tHE rIFF!!

  • Yes is so awesome. So musically diverse. I guess thatll happen when you have one consistent member in 20 years

  • i mean future times, dont kill the whale, release release, arriving ufo, circus of heaven and slient wings of freedom are all good songs. tormato is waaay underrated.

  • @a1rf0rce1992 hear hear! My third favourite Yes album, right after The Yes Album and Close to the Edge!

  • i think tormato is underrated becuase all of the song but onward and madrigal are good grooves and drive. my favorite albums though are a tie between fragile and relayer.

  • @Amanwhistler: I too was going to ask if anybody had the remastered version (on CD, mp3, WMA, etc) of this album, and I too enjoyed the "rough draft" with John Anderson and Rick Wakeman while they were still in the band! Another lost track I like is "Golden Age," particularly its bridge section. I take it these were originally done during the 'Tormato' sessions and they had died on the cutting room floor...

  • Now THAT's a real bassline, not like this dance crap in clubs nowadays. Sigh... why don't my peers understand this. I may be 17 but at least i appreciate this stuff.

  • @SerenSeven - Real music is always played on instruments. Even the best electronic bands understand this and play live, such as New Order and Kraftwerk. Go listen to them if you don't know those bands: New Order: Blue Monday watch?v=ftJZomwDhxQ Bizarre Love Triangle watch?v=fOWBX_xP5y8 Thieves Like Us watch?v=3KTlDVeY--0 Kraftwerk: Autobahn watch?v=gChOifUJZMc Trans Europe Express watch?v=qBGNlTPgQII Tour de France watch?v=sQz-CZvkY8k Pocket Calculator (live) watch?v=UD9e6us6ISI .
  • @SerenSeven - youtube screwed up that post. Let's try that again: New Order: Blue Monday watch?v=ftJZomwDhxQ Bizarre Love Triangle watch?v=fOWBX_xP5y8 Thieves Like Us watch?v=3KTlDVeY--0 ------------------ Kraftwerk: Autobahn watch?v=gChOifUJZMc Trans Europe Express watch?v=qBGNlTPgQII Tour de France watch?v=sQz-CZvkY8k Pocket Calculator (live) watch?v=UD9e6us6ISI
  • I LOVED "Drama"--SOOO glad I ignored the bad press of the day & bought this fantastic musical offering!!

  • This is the best song of Drama! I have got the newest CD have got this song of unfinished version. I like it,too.

  • Horn at 3:51: ‘Christ, will this never end?’

  • No shock. It's one of my favorite YES albums as well.

  • I don't really like the "drama" album, but there are some very underrated tracks, such as Tempus Fugit. The bass is amazing here. Chris is doing a very great job here! Everybody, including the not amazing keyboardist geoff downes, with a lot of energy.

  • Yes, yes. "Drama" was a very underrated album. Hard to recall a time when the band was more energized and vital. Mr. Horn's influence, no doubt, crystallized in the form of "90125." YES fans are very fortunate to have had this band, and its many iterations, for as long as it has....

  • This may come as a very big shock to my fellow Yes fans, but 'Drama' is my second all-time-favorite Yes album (only after 'Close to the Edge'). Seeing as how 'Tormato' was both a critical and a financial flop, Trevor Horn and Geoffrey Downes were the much-needed proverbial "shots in the arm" for this band so as to finally notch the New Wave-style the former one attempted abortively... :^)

  • @faschuck same here, man. Close to the Edge is my number-one favorite, followed by Drama. I'm PROUD to say that. :D

  • @GuitarMasterizer I stopped telling other Yes fans that face-to-face. They tend to look at you as if you just farted.

  • @luciaatherton really? that sucks. :( I get plenty of that stare just by saying that I like this band in general. This girl took my iPhone and looked at the artists I had on my iPod and said, "You need to get some REAL music on here." Sad, right?

  • @GuitarMasterizer In general---I know. But it’s only the reaction from the progressive purists that bothers me at all.

‘Real music’. What, some bimbo lip-syncing with four dancers behind her, or some self-aggrandising moron chanting over an annoying beat while making gang signs? (Musicianship is so uncool nowadays.)

You can’t win, really. You can get ‘the look’ from the disposable-pop crowd AND the purists.

  • @faschuck Drama is an excellent album!!! I saw them on this tour, and I still have the album. And the live "Yesshows" too!

  • @faschuck Tormato was only a flop in the Media eye. Tormato was a Masterpeice. It was far from mainstream, the very quality that sets YES apart. Only a small part of society is smart enough to understand complexity in any aspect. The majority of people are simple minds and always will be. Not shocking that you would like Drama better, only that you would consider Tormato a flop. The Media is why Obama got elected, real geniuses they are!

  • @TWR1961

Why don't you shut up and go listen to Yes with Sarah Palin then, you idiotic dipstick? Probably too "elitist" for her though, so I guess you'll have to get used to Bon Jovi!

Hurrrr!!! Obama Bad!!!! I'm a worthless moron, but liking prog rock make me all smart!!!!! Obama bad!!!! (drool)

  • @faschuck drama is my fav

  • @faschuck mine is topographic oceans

  • @faschuck

Exactly! Horn + Downes really helped this band. But there are still Yes fans that won't get into it because Jon was not in the band. They just don't see it.

  • @faschuck I agree this was a shot in the arm for the dying yes lineup but 2 consider this better then Relayer and Tales is a far reaching statement. CTLE, TFTO, Relayer and GFTO are Yes at their pinnacle! This album will never survive the test of time like those 4 masterpieces

  • @faschuck Dude, Drama totally rules! Yes' most "heavy metal" album, yet totally plugged into the New Wave of the time. So glad to be able to see this footage. Some hardcore Anderson-heads may not like this, but Anderson himself said that Drama is a fine album. My personal favorite? Tales from Topographic Oceans, another controversial one.

  • @TheWolfe666 Drama is right up their as one of the greatest musical efforts of...ALL TIME!

  • Steve Howe é um guitarrista extraordinário..... Tranquilo, seguro, ciente do que faz. Acho que êle é um deus minimalista, faz tão somente o necessário para mostrar o quanto é... extraordinário.

  • im trying tolearn this on bass... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • @Kickedinthehead2112 hurts your hands doesn't it? I know it does mine

  • I saw them for this tour @ the Garden and it was a great show!

The Buggles "blended right in . . ."

    DJ

  • amazing!

    i love the "Drama" album.

    beautiful.

  • where the fuck is jon anderson

  • Happy birthday Trevor Horn!

  • Note how much Squire/White/Howe have a Police groove going on, as they did on "Tormato" before this ... they were tight.

  • @hiddenfire65 Both Horn and Anderson actually sounded alot like Sting, like those voices alot!

  • MrClose2theEdge, you have to see SH with Asia ~ he does Clap at every show! Plus Asia puts on a great show as well!

  • He may look confused, but he plays outstanding! Kinda like a goalie in Ice hockey!

  • is it me or does alan white always look confused when he drums

  • @zackjp It's you.

  • it's the buggles vocal

  • @ThePinkguns its the buggles and yes, not only trevor on vocal but geoff is on keyboard too

  • @flawless so this is a combi. yes and buggles

  • This is really amazing, i'd never heard yes before this and wow, i'm pleasantly suprised. This is epic.

  • @symphonyx767 Whoa... You never heard YES? Drama and 90125 were good YES albums from the 80s. The Yes Album and Fragile are required listening from their beginnings in the 70s. Round About and Starship Trooper are great songs off of those albums.. also listen to City Of Love on 90125. Those are a few of my favs.. I hope you find more you like

  • @coldfarted That's the problem kids have these days, way too many bands to listen to from their own generation not to mention everything that came after 1954. Can you imagine not having heard of Yes? Completely unfathomable for people our age. I applaud the young man for finding Yes and enjoying their songs.

  • Trevor Horn - lead vocals, still kinda looks like a buggle but he can sing similar to jon.

  • The music on this album is a strong example of the remarkable evolution of this band. Rick Wakeman once remarked, "'Drama' is not a Yes album." Years later he publicly took that remark back, saying, "If not for 'Drama', Yes may well have never continued beyond 'Tormato'."

  • Just saw them in Camden, NJ... Different line up but great as usual

  • @WingThaiJ Same, fucking awesome show. Me and my friends made a banner. Starship Trooper was epic.

  • @MrClose2theEdge The only thing I was disappointed with is that as many times as I've seen Yes over the years, Steve Howe has always managed to do a solo and he did not do one this time (e.g, The Clap, Mood For A Day). However, it was still awesome. Yes is the Best; can't decide who I like better between Kansas & Yes, but to me they are both the best.

  • @WingThaiJ Chris Squire said that this would be a "rock-n-rolly" tour with Styx and would play many of their more recognizable songs (e.g., Starship Trooper, Roundabout, and Owner of a Lonely Heart) . Seeing also that they were limited to 90 min its kinda makes sense. I was hoping maybe for an epic piece like Close to the Edge or Awaken but overall I was pleased. Im sure Steve was just as disappointed as we were.

  • @MrClose2theEdge They did sound great; but I think i will now wait for concerts where they will play alone.

  • In a band known for excellent musicianship, Chris Squire has always stood out.

  • Trevor Horn did a great job on this album. It took a lot of balls to do what he did.

  • Great lip synching! That is my favorite Yes album, though. Trev really took the group in a different direction & kept them relevant!

  • This song completely kicks ass! Excellent vocals by Trevor Horn!!!

  • IMHO, the best tune from the one-off Drama lineup. Yeah, the video is cornball, but this was pre-MTV; the budget probably wasn't big for this clip.

  • @MrDan708 Actually Drama came out about 1 year before MTV. I doubt if they would have played much YES.. They played some good music at first then it just turned to crap. From good music to hair metal and Boy George to rap crap then stupid reality shows. MTV really sucks.

  • @coldfarted Agreed. And i love how Vh1 trys to throw in an hour of Van Halen videos as to say "look we play older music, sometimes..." but it just annoys the hell out of me every time I turn on "100 greatest rock songs" or something of that nature and some stereotypical AC/DC song is # 1. An hour of overplayed AC/DC doesnt make up for 23 hours of the Jersey Shore.

  • It doesn't matter who is in the line up Yes still produce brilliant music.

  • skipping this chaotic one.

  • Cheesetastic video...but great song!

  • WHERE IS THE " INTO THE LENS " VIDEO ?

  • Video did kill the radio stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Proof is in the taste of the pudding.

  • @JimmyLeeVanDePutte Another memory of a great Yes tune ruined by the Yes meets Bee-Gee's video, lol

  • クリスが弾いてるエレクトラのMPCアウトローベース。こんな貴重な楽器を30年も実戦で使ってるのは凄い事。

  • I saw this tour in Philly and Yes rocked...miss these days very much!

  • JupisGoiter - well spotted! Generally though they mime pretty well - I suppose good musicians do.

  • 0:23 Geoff Downes' epic fail LoL

  • @JupisGoiter He was distracted---timing his next ‘come-hither’ look at the camera.

  • Damn auto spell program = prog

  • @above90devibels - agree completely - there is some fantastic program about. Still though, I keep going back to ELP, King Crimson, Asia, Yes, Genesis, Rick Wakeman, Marillion, Rush, etc. etc. Long live program!

  • How Chris Squire plays that bass line and sings is beyond me.

  • Follow current prog....there is still some incredible music and musicians out there.

  • One of my favorite songs from the album and from this band!

  • one of my favorite songs by yes

  • Really enjoyed the "Yuggles". Great album.

  • Just seen them do this song at house of blues in Chicago and the new dude & Oliver rocked it

  • you want an answer???? YES!!!!!

  • ironically this is 4/5ths the current lineup just a differnt singer though Trevor horn is producing :D

  • These guys are Bad Asses no matter how you look at it.

  • @ahvideoclips So true! Especially in this video!

  • That's an Elektra x610 "Outlaw" bass Chris has. Don't see too many of those anymore, especially with built in effects!

  • omg! i've been listen this album for 20 years... at full volume..i never get tired of it..I LOVE IT!

  • Steve Howe is absolutely one of my all-time favorite guitarists, but I just realized seeing this: He IS Jame Gumb, the serial killer from Silence of the Lambs...

  • prepare 4 the dumbest remark on any you tube yes site...........

this is my favorite yes song...pls dont respomnd ..i know , i know

  • I think the bass is a Spector. He's playing the same one in a live video of the same song nearly 30 years later. Pretty cool!!

  • The only DRAMA is Trevor Horn on vocals !

  • @powermichiel i think trevor horn sounds really great.. dont get me wrong jons voice is amazing and im all for the key components - my favorite lineup is Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe Squire. but trevor did a good job and later produced stuff for yes. good guy

  • Anyone know what kind of bass that is? :O

  • what's really amazing to me is that Alan White also played drums on john lennon's "imagine". what a versatile dude.

  • The best Yes album ever!!!

  • For years I would not buy "Drama" because Jon Anderson was not on it.Then I bought a compilation with this and "Does It Really Happen" on it,and I realized what a mistake that was. That record was arguably better than any Yes album since 90125,and I wish they had done more.

  • The current line-up does a great job on this song. I wish they would perform more from Drama...like "Does it Really Happen?".

  • @Musicbuff2u You may get your wish. Geoff Downes will be on the Summer tour instead of Oliver Wakeman. I'm seeing them in Bethel NY with Styx!
