Its not about having crazy awsome skill... Its about having the mind to make a good tune that people will listen to, wich you had at the begginning but it sounded sloppy at the end
can you play on the acoustic bass without the amp ??? i want to know if it sounds like a acoustic guitar.....so...do you need amp or not?? i want to buy these one...
Hey guys. I'm not a bass player, so can someone tell me why those of you who are dislike others using a pick so much? This is not being a smart-ass, it's a genuine question as I've seen a few negative comments about the practice.
I only play fingerstyle but theres a few pick players I do enjoy like Justin from tool for example. Most of the bassist that use picks aren't very musical they tend to always double the root of the chord the guitarist is playing, they also tend to play one string and use there arm to change the fretting hand instead of the hand itself. I think it limits people to use a pick for one I play in a metal band and you can't put on a show if your starring at your hands all night.
I agree... I don't like pick playing. With Acoustic basses you need metal tip fingers, otherwise your as loud as a bag of feathers falling on marshmallow man's cotton wool filled belly. :)
speed it's not a big deal, everyone can play fast, but being able to play at that speed and sound CLEAN, thats hard to achieve. It doesn's matter what technique you use to play fast, it could be a three finger technique, using a pick, slapping or tapping, this is not the issue, but if you can get a CLEAN sound using any fo these techniques you will suddenly hear... MUSIC.
hey man, pick players are just as good and technically proficient as fingerstyle players. dont look down on him just because he chooses to play a different way than you.
Who the hell calls this 'Fabolous'? It's a tune built on the simpliest chords possible, nothing to do with bass playing, to make matters worse the timing got lost (vide- snowblind777 and the advice to get a metronome).
Maricehello- get a guitar, spend 2 months practicing speed with a metronome, use octaves and you'll do it better.

Most bassists aren't considered legit if they use a pick. I for one use my fingers because I love the tone and it's easier for me.

I think in bass, your supposed to pluck.
Some use a pick, some just pluck.

You get a better tone using a pick on an acoustic bass than your fingers.
