I'm sure many can dissect all my vids, and point out exceptions or critique some aspects of the vids, and that's fine. But, I'm not cherry picking vids that only prove my point. I'm selecting vids that have content that allow me to make some sort of analysis. I've mentioned numerous times, that my vids are downloaded from YouTube. But if you wanna criticize me, then you have to look at the vids certain apologists make. Because their vids are extremely one sided and extremely manipulative. I show you an entire play develop, not just a small clip (at least with the footage I have available)

why dont u analyze his game in the finals and explain how great he is by losing 39 to the celtics amazing modern defense. Please post it, pleeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssseeeee. I cant wait for your professional analysis, lol!
It's not that Kobe can't light it up against a good team, but man, he sure seems to save his best shotjack nights against the worst teams. And it was obvious after getting the first two 50+ games that he was simply going for the points and to hell with his team. He had a total of 11 asists for all four of those games. 11 assists over 4 games! Yes, they won them, let's be fair, but couldn't the Lakers have won those games with better team play, since afterall they were all weak opponents?
Thanks, but I'm only trying to expose them to the truth.
EVERY modern player benefits from a pussyfied NBA era, not just Kobe. He just happens to possibly their best. Sadly to say, he doesn't play "consistently" well under CONSTANT physical pressure. And what he and others experience is "Minimal" in comparison to past eras. A slight handcheck slows down players, that slight handcheck creates less room. Imagine FULL hard handchecking and hard contact in a regular basis?
The Kobe 62 pts will take a while. I'm aiming for the best possible quality to be fair to both sides. I'm experimenting with the settings to get the best results. I'll try to upload 1 quarter at a time depending on the footage. I'm gonna try and include every second Kobe's on the court, as well as focus on the game in general. My mid next month (tops) the 3 quarters will be uploaded. But I wanna stress that Kobe had a historic game, no matter how you look at it.
Thanks to daredevil1983 I'll be making a special Mavs vs Lakers infamous 62 pts game. I will try and do EVERY Kobe possession as well as other plays not involving Kobe as well. From the tipoff til the time Bean sits down. And without being to critical, I already see its gonna be easy, and this was just a 7 minute clip in the first quarter.
I will later compare it to an "average" Jordan game.
When what? I already have a couple of vids uploaded. They aren't the best, but its something. Most of the clips that are used, are in the context of the play. Meaning, I try to show how the play got created, not just the finish. This is how I try to establish some form of objectivity. KB used alot of quick clips out of context, I don't. I also show when Kobe scores and makes a good shot.
I'll try and make another quick vid sometime during the week. If I have time I'ma work in a more detailed (hopefully better produced) video by the weekend. My plan is to find an online clip of an entire game and analyze it completely. That will take a long time, and to be honest, I don't think many will be interested in watching it.
I found an uploader with plenty of full NBA games, but its hard going thru all of them, downloading, converting, analyzing them, editing, etc.etc. and I got other shit like my music I gotta focus on as well, as writing and rehearsing. So for now clips it is. And I only started doing this due to the blatant lies being spread.
I understand ANYONE can make clips, you don't need a degree to do it. I also understand selective or biased editing, to prove a point. But the vids that I have in my playlist along with the vids that I make, are in context and the plays were the difference is highlighted are frequent. Also, I'm using the clips posted online, I personally don't have them, so I only post what I have to work with. I also use critique clips that are relevant to argument I'm making.
If I'm making a clip that deals with handchecking, I'm only gonna use clips that deal with that point, and I will try my best to show them in context. I will not use clips that are irrelevant to whatever the topic is. I've EXCLUDED some Jordan clips where he made a basket, or I cut the clip short to just show the contact but not the actual bucket. I'm trying to be as fair as possible. We may have different opinions from time to time, but I do not lie (unlike a certain KB poster).
How can players back then roam more freely on defense than now?
That makes no sense.
It was much easier to offensively attack a team back then who was doubling someone because the double had to what has come to be known as a hard double. Meaning he would have to leave his man WIDE OPEN.
Now adays, a defensive player can shadow another and still be in a position to get back to his man to contest his shot.
The Celtics did an excellant job of that in the finals.
A. Prove to me that Pierce was consistently hugging Kobe. I don't wanna see "a" play or a couple of possessions. I wanna see consistent grabbing and hard handchecking.
B. Players did roam on defense more freely, go watch the vids in my Jordan sucks playlist.
C. Jordan always had 2 or even 3 players shadowing him. Go do your homework. And what's the use of shadowing if they're just gonna "stand" there and even BACK away?
The Celtics were playing a less physical form of old school defense btw.
That just proves that Kobe cant dominate in the 80's and 90's if handchecking (bearhugging) and very physical defense was allowed (or not called) lol! Thank you for clearing it all up for the world. End of discussion on wether Kobe can dominate in
why does everyone think hand checking or hard fouls effect kobe? he is a jump shooter who has the ability to go off the dribble. oh yeah he played while hand checking was allowed and was an all star
Cuz we've seen him be less effective when he does have "some" contact. If he played under a more physical defense then he'd be even less effective. The handchecking that Kobe did face, was minimal in comparison to what MJ faced. By then, they already started crack down on it AND he played with Shaq. Also, look at the stats, that proves our point. He wasn't as effective... FACT
"If he played under a more physical defense then he'd be even less effective" that is an opinion that i don't agree with because kobe is a jumpshooter not a slasher like mj was. also when kobe played during the time hand checking was allowed he wasn't nearly as good a player as he is now.
Uh...jump shooters get handchecked as well. And it also makes it harder for him to create a shot. And, he's not a spot up shooter, he creates his own shots, so he'll have to fight not just to get position and the ball, but to get a clean look. I explained in my vids how handchecking allows the defensive player to be closer and control the offensive player more. Furthermore, if you can't touch the player that gives the offensive player an extra cushion for them to get their shot off....
Yes they do, very true. But they also can guide the player away from the pick as well, or at the very least delay him a bit.
Handchecking is not the end of all offense, but it does slow you down either slightly or significantly. It gives defenders an extra second to help out. But it will always wear down the player thru the course of a game. Its similar to a boxer that keeps clinching to another. After a while it wears them down and it becomes an annoyance that keeps you off balance.
Also, take this vid for example. If Miller is allowed to handcheck, that slight contact slows Kobe down a bit, allows for a true double team and they can trap him. But, he's just standing there. He can't check him so he's trapped or force him to the sideline more. Kobe just moves by him in a flash. Also, notice how Kobe can just dribble, dribble and notice the crazy amount of space he has. And YES this happens during the playoffs as well. Where players are almost paralyzed.
1. Michael Jordan was mentally tougher than Kobe. Kobe stops & whines to the official while his team is playing 4 on 5 defense.
2. Bill Russell, Jerry West, Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier, Tiger Woods, & many, many others who were great champions were all mentally tough & would sacrifice a lot to win. Kobe won't.
3. Allen Iverson is probably the most gifted basketball player I've ever seen, but he is just mentally weak, hence he has never won at the collegiate or pro level, & the only time he....
I dunno if that's a fair assessment of AI man, to average the numbers he does at his size for an entire marathon of a season, year after year really doesn't scream mental weakness. He also steps it up in the playoffs being 1 of the only 2 players to average 30+ ppg in the playoffs - the other being Michael Jordan. And all the teams that have knocked his teams out of the playoffs since 2001, 3 have gone to the finals the other 2 the conference finals. This year will be very interesting!
Go here: /watch?v=zNzwS7aVTuU and at 20 seconds you'll see MJ get handchecked. You'll notice how he can't go where he wants, the defender is literally impeding his progress and dictating where he goes. He uses his hands, forearms, knees and elbows.
Imagine going thru something exactly like this or similar almost every possession, without it being a foul? that'll never happen in today's game. At times they called it back then, but 8 times outta 10 it wasn't. Its not gonna stop a player all...
the time. But its enough to slow them down and wear them down or at least allow for help. Which is what made Dumars so good,he'd force Mj to the traps. He'd use his court awareness with body positioning and footspeed to get him trapped. When it was MJ one on one against him, MJ KILLED him. And Dumars wasn't always successful either, but it made it harder for MJ and he was less consistent against the Pistons than against other teams because of that.
Kobe stans always point out how Kobe would just shoot over the shorter Dumars. But it wasn't that easy since he was always physically bodying you up.Bumping you, pushing you, all in your face, you hardly got a good look. You really had to earn every inch against him and other players. MJ didn't have the space that today's players had. If you watch the vids when he did have that space, it was an automatic, not even a question. But don't take my word, the vids are out there.
Its not a convenience, its a FACT. I will upload video after video after video proving that today's rules are weak. And I will also upload video after video of past eras, playing a zone defense and illegal defense NOT being called in a consistent basis.
So better defensive numbers means better defense? Tell that to T. Prince, Bowen, KG and the other 2 good defenders. They don't have stats that pop out, but are still considered top defenders.
I WILL START TO CONCENTRATE ON THE SO-CALLED BETTER DEFENSIVE TEAMS OF THE MODERN ERA FROM NOW ON.
This isn't to discredit an individual player, but to prove that the entire NBA as a whole is easier. I chose Kobe for starters, since his fans are the most vocal and sadly to say, many are very ignorant and have been spreading the most LIES.
I have covered Arenas, Wade, Bron, Iverson and will continue to cover them. My biggest obstacle is finding enough footage and having time.
Check out my Jordan sucks playlist to view more vids that deal with the same issue. I try to present FACTS and not fairy tales. I don't distort reality, I just show what many people either miss or don't want to admit. I try to be informative and entertaining.
From now on I will focus on the supposed better defensive teams of today.
Peace to "all" the viewers including the Matt Fish fans.
(except for Joe Wolf fans... they know what they did)
And anyone who has the time can just as easily upload a video of a defense from the 80s or 90s and go into detail as to how different the positions/placemmts of certain defenders would be if zone was allowed.....
And as far as the 3 second defensive rule goes, there was NO REASON for there to be that rule in Jordans era because no zone defense was allowed. Meaning a player had to be guarding his man to begin with.
The fact that a defensive player can now be in the middle for 2 seconds without guarding anyone (2 more seconds than Jordans era) means there are less lanes now.
People who use that rule to somehow prop Jordan are wrong and simply dont know what they are talking about.
The zone wasn't legal, but was allowed. Just how the handcheck has always been a foul of sorts, but allowed. The illegal defense rules were called very rarely, about once or twice a game. You could hear the coaches and players scream "illegal" during the entire game, but the call was rarely made. Go look at my Jordan sucks playlist for further proof of that.
You're correct you can do that. Of course not every defense he faced was as great. BUT the avg defense back then was superior than the avg defense today. The rules allowed for more contact and players to roam on freely on defense and the contact that was allowed made it harder for the offensive players to get position or create shots. Every player, coach, analyst will tell you past eras were more physical, stop ignoring the FACTS.
Yeah because Jordan NEVER EVER faced a bad defensive team.
Only Kobe does.
The double standard is hilarious.
And really, hand checking is one of the uncalled rules in the NBA, especially in the playoffs. Celtics got away with it all series long in the playoffs.
So really, Kobe went up against a zone AND hand checking.
Jordan faced plenty of bad defensive teams for his era. But even those defensive teams were better in comparison to today's teams.
Prove to me that the Celtics were handchecking, cuz I sure as fuck didn't see it. At least not REAL handchecking. I see a small weak handcheck from time to time nowadays, but its called a foul 90% of the time.
Again.. watch my Jordan sucks playlist.
Dont worry, the list is only gonna get bigger and bigger.
dis dude who made this video is trying to be funny!... how bout load up the video when kobe drop 62pts on the mavericks in three quaters buddy!and the mavericks had the best defense that year!... no excuse there... still killed the best defense that year!...how bout when he drop 53 against houston last year!.. they have one of the best defense to.. especially when yao ming is in the middle!...u didnt prove ur point whoever made this video... be fair if u want to prove point..and u didnt at all!
I'm actually gonna make the vid, thanks for reminding. You should check out my other vids to show the difference.
I can pick ANY game from the modern era to prove my point. Its not that the defense is that bad, its just that the RULES don't allow them to play. I just picked this vid at random, But I'ma start using the so called "good" defensive teams to prove it. My schedule is gonna be busy this week, but by next week I guarantee you I'll upload a vid dissecting your precious defense.
Make sure you include all of Kobe's assists from the Mavs game too. LOL!!! And for the record the Mavs did not have the best defense that year, although after that whomping by Kobe they did make a point of improving it.
i think kobe nutlickers should look no further as to WHY the NBA changed the rules. You think it was to make defenses, tougher?? Go ahead and laugh out loud, the NBA would never do that. It was, by admission, to increase scoring. You saw how Boston handled kobe, that was old school defense, and virtually no zone played at all...all help man-to-man, no different from the past.
Can someone explain how going against a handcheck is tougher than going against a zone when one rule (handcheck) only affects ONE player while the zone affects the ENTIRE DEFENSIVE scheme of a team.
And when Jordan gets easy shots moving off the ball and faking his opponents is was because he was so damn good.
Great question, I was afraid nobody was gonna ask it. What happens handchecking slows you down for a split second at worst, or can completely stop you. Also, if you noticed how I pointed out Kobe without the ball, it allows him to get easy position without the handcheck, the defender loses track of him. But more importantly, since the defensive player is afraid of picking up a foul, they back away. That's why you saw players backing away from him avoiding all contact as much as possible...
he was given alot of room to operate and roam around without any obstruction. And sure, at times he creates his own space with good cuts and footwork, but its even effortless, since the defensive player CAN'T touch him. Not every possession MJ played was physical and involved handchecking. BUT, it was a helluva lot more than today. Past eras physical contact and pressure at the low point is still greater than today's avg. The non physical rules, also allow today's players to create more room.
Kobe's a great player, but for some to say today's defense and defenders is/are better is incorrect. In "theory" they should be better. The zone by design is supposed to stop the offense by forcing them into bad situations. Today's players are in some degrees better athletes. But all of that is negated by the rules that give the offensive player the advantage. Since there's lil to no contact allowed, the zone becomes a huge hole, today's players although great athletes don't know how to...
play defense. You know, recognize the player and their position on the court, the shot clock, the angles, where their help is. In this clip we saw HORRIBLE double teams, we saw no weak side rotation, at times the defenders weren't even looking. Sure, at times Kobe made a nice cut, but the defender didn't have a hand on him, so it was made even easier. When he penetrated, the defense BACKED AWAY in order to avoid a foul. This is more of the norm today, than in past eras.
In past eras, at the very LEAST, the defender had a hand on the offensive player. Sure there was defensive breakdowns and bad defendsive teams and players. But it wasn't as prevalent as it is today, and the rules favored the defense more than today. Even Jamelle Hill acknowledged defenders were better back then. What's the point of being 6'8 if you have to play the offensive player so far away? or you can't contest every shot cuz you'd pick up a foul? the 6'8 player becomes 6'4 by default....
due to their inability to play the man up close and body them up. So if you're 6'8 and you're playing me 2 ft away, with no handchecking, no pressure by the time you challenge the shot its too late. The pinnacle of your recovery time makes you shorter, and in that split second, the ball has already been released with less obstruction. Look at the shots he hit over double teams closely. The defnders for the most part are NOT JUMPING! Cuz they're afraid of picking up a foul.
I can explain. Jordan faced both zone and handchecking.
Defenses were allowed to use zone, doubling, tripling and trapping. Teams were occassionally called for "illegal defense" when doubling a player BEFORE they have the ball.
When zone was FORMALLY legalized, you could double a player who doesn't have the ball, and instead...
defensive 3 seconds, defending with your forearm, handchecking, "impeding" the ball carrier, "impeding" a player running a screen are now illegal defense.
Thanks I actually think I did a crappy job, but I take the thanks.
Hopefully my next vids will be better in quality and editing. My goal is to win either a Daytime Emmy or 2nd place in The Country Music Awards for best female vocals.
But I guess a stupid Oscar for editing will do :( fuckin Oscars!!!
No, I never mentioned that. What Kobe did in this game IS impressive, BUT its not as grandiose as many wish to believe. You have defensive players AVOIDING you, in many possessions. There's many uncontested shots, that look contested in regular speed, but the men are just standing there. This vid was made to prove a point, not to necessarily diss him. And YES some shots are nice, he does hit some tough shots, but lets be real here. The defender is 3 ft away at times, same goes for lebron.
Thanks, I think my vid could use some work (alot actually), hopefully I'll improve. But did you notice how Kobe was doubled and tripled teamed ALL THE TIME?!!!!!! It was amazing at how much he was pressured and how great the pressure was. The contact and beating he took was just incredible. I mean, how did he survive the great defense, specially when players were backing away from him and challenging shots they were they were (or in this case NOT challenging).
why you put so much work into a vid and use awful quality source material for your "observations"

65 pts against Portland. Portland's final record: 32-50. Ranked 26th in defense (out of 30).
50 pts against Minnesota. Record 32-50. Ranked 21st in defense.
60 pts against Memphis. Record 22-60. Ranked last in defense.
50 pts against New Orleans. Record 39-43. Ranked 14th in defense. (The only half-way decent team.)
Fantumh 3 years ago 2
It's not that Kobe can't light it up against a good team, but man, he sure seems to save his best shotjack nights against the worst teams. And it was obvious after getting the first two 50+ games that he was simply going for the points and to hell with his team. He had a total of 11 asists for all four of those games. 11 assists over 4 games! Yes, they won them, let's be fair, but couldn't the Lakers have won those games with better team play, since afterall they were all weak opponents?

what a stolen vid with bad quality

You got a ton of hate from this video Keep up the great work!
ProGalaxy 3 years ago
Thanks, but I'm only trying to expose them to the truth.
EVERY modern player benefits from a pussyfied NBA era, not just Kobe. He just happens to possibly their best. Sadly to say, he doesn't play "consistently" well under CONSTANT physical pressure. And what he and others experience is "Minimal" in comparison to past eras. A slight handcheck slows down players, that slight handcheck creates less room. Imagine FULL hard handchecking and hard contact in a regular basis?
andgar923 3 years ago
The Kobe 62 pts will take a while. I'm aiming for the best possible quality to be fair to both sides. I'm experimenting with the settings to get the best results. I'll try to upload 1 quarter at a time depending on the footage. I'm gonna try and include every second Kobe's on the court, as well as focus on the game in general. My mid next month (tops) the 3 quarters will be uploaded. But I wanna stress that Kobe had a historic game, no matter how you look at it.
andgar923 3 years ago
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
It may take some time, so be patient.
Thanks to all.
andgar923 3 years ago
When
JamesCole8 3 years ago
When what? I already have a couple of vids uploaded. They aren't the best, but its something. Most of the clips that are used, are in the context of the play. Meaning, I try to show how the play got created, not just the finish. This is how I try to establish some form of objectivity. KB used alot of quick clips out of context, I don't. I also show when Kobe scores and makes a good shot.
andgar923 3 years ago
I'll try and make another quick vid sometime during the week. If I have time I'ma work in a more detailed (hopefully better produced) video by the weekend. My plan is to find an online clip of an entire game and analyze it completely. That will take a long time, and to be honest, I don't think many will be interested in watching it.
andgar923 3 years ago
I found an uploader with plenty of full NBA games, but its hard going thru all of them, downloading, converting, analyzing them, editing, etc.etc. and I got other shit like my music I gotta focus on as well, as writing and rehearsing. So for now clips it is. And I only started doing this due to the blatant lies being spread.
andgar923 3 years ago
Dude honestly these clip shows that people make dont mean a thing.
ANYONE can just hand pick clips from various games to drive home the point they are trying to make.
Its really easy.
I can even do it for the so called great defensive teams in the Knicks and Pistons.
Just string together some highlights of them missing some defensive assignments and all a sudden they dont look all that.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
I understand ANYONE can make clips, you don't need a degree to do it. I also understand selective or biased editing, to prove a point. But the vids that I have in my playlist along with the vids that I make, are in context and the plays were the difference is highlighted are frequent. Also, I'm using the clips posted online, I personally don't have them, so I only post what I have to work with. I also use critique clips that are relevant to argument I'm making.
For example....
andgar923 3 years ago
If I'm making a clip that deals with handchecking, I'm only gonna use clips that deal with that point, and I will try my best to show them in context. I will not use clips that are irrelevant to whatever the topic is. I've EXCLUDED some Jordan clips where he made a basket, or I cut the clip short to just show the contact but not the actual bucket. I'm trying to be as fair as possible. We may have different opinions from time to time, but I do not lie (unlike a certain KB poster).
andgar923 3 years ago
How can players back then roam more freely on defense than now?
That makes no sense.
It was much easier to offensively attack a team back then who was doubling someone because the double had to what has come to be known as a hard double. Meaning he would have to leave his man WIDE OPEN.
Now adays, a defensive player can shadow another and still be in a position to get back to his man to contest his shot.
The Celtics did an excellant job of that in the finals.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
The Celtics were playing a less physical form of old school defense btw.
andgar923 3 years ago
Pierce was getting away with a sort of bear hug on Kobe off the ball in game 4 with no call.
Its there. Watch it.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
That just proves that Kobe cant dominate in the 80's and 90's if handchecking (bearhugging) and very physical defense was allowed (or not called) lol! Thank you for clearing it all up for the world. End of discussion on wether Kobe can dominate in
80's/90's era.
ancientpimp 3 years ago
why does everyone think hand checking or hard fouls effect kobe? he is a jump shooter who has the ability to go off the dribble. oh yeah he played while hand checking was allowed and was an all star
paperboy215 3 years ago
Cuz we've seen him be less effective when he does have "some" contact. If he played under a more physical defense then he'd be even less effective. The handchecking that Kobe did face, was minimal in comparison to what MJ faced. By then, they already started crack down on it AND he played with Shaq. Also, look at the stats, that proves our point. He wasn't as effective... FACT
andgar923 3 years ago
"If he played under a more physical defense then he'd be even less effective" that is an opinion that i don't agree with because kobe is a jumpshooter not a slasher like mj was. also when kobe played during the time hand checking was allowed he wasn't nearly as good a player as he is now.
paperboy215 3 years ago
Uh...jump shooters get handchecked as well. And it also makes it harder for him to create a shot. And, he's not a spot up shooter, he creates his own shots, so he'll have to fight not just to get position and the ball, but to get a clean look. I explained in my vids how handchecking allows the defensive player to be closer and control the offensive player more. Furthermore, if you can't touch the player that gives the offensive player an extra cushion for them to get their shot off....
andgar923 3 years ago
picks eliminate hand checking anyway
paperboy215 3 years ago
Yes they do, very true. But they also can guide the player away from the pick as well, or at the very least delay him a bit.
Handchecking is not the end of all offense, but it does slow you down either slightly or significantly. It gives defenders an extra second to help out. But it will always wear down the player thru the course of a game. Its similar to a boxer that keeps clinching to another. After a while it wears them down and it becomes an annoyance that keeps you off balance.
andgar923 3 years ago
Also, take this vid for example. If Miller is allowed to handcheck, that slight contact slows Kobe down a bit, allows for a true double team and they can trap him. But, he's just standing there. He can't check him so he's trapped or force him to the sideline more. Kobe just moves by him in a flash. Also, notice how Kobe can just dribble, dribble and notice the crazy amount of space he has. And YES this happens during the playoffs as well. Where players are almost paralyzed.
andgar923 3 years ago
Kobe won't.
3. Allen Iverson is probably the most gifted basketball player I've ever seen, but he is just mentally weak, hence he has never won at the collegiate or pro level, & the only time he....
crudheep 3 years ago 2
I dunno if that's a fair assessment of AI man, to average the numbers he does at his size for an entire marathon of a season, year after year really doesn't scream mental weakness. He also steps it up in the playoffs being 1 of the only 2 players to average 30+ ppg in the playoffs - the other being Michael Jordan. And all the teams that have knocked his teams out of the playoffs since 2001, 3 have gone to the finals the other 2 the conference finals. This year will be very interesting!
candiasis333 3 years ago
Go here: /watch?v=zNzwS7aVTuU and at 20 seconds you'll see MJ get handchecked. You'll notice how he can't go where he wants, the defender is literally impeding his progress and dictating where he goes. He uses his hands, forearms, knees and elbows.
Imagine going thru something exactly like this or similar almost every possession, without it being a foul? that'll never happen in today's game. At times they called it back then, but 8 times outta 10 it wasn't. Its not gonna stop a player all...
andgar923 3 years ago
So why wouldn't he just shoot over him?
andgar923 3 years ago
Kobe stans always point out how Kobe would just shoot over the shorter Dumars. But it wasn't that easy since he was always physically bodying you up.Bumping you, pushing you, all in your face, you hardly got a good look. You really had to earn every inch against him and other players. MJ didn't have the space that today's players had. If you watch the vids when he did have that space, it was an automatic, not even a question. But don't take my word, the vids are out there.
andgar923 3 years ago
You're being a myopic fan.
Jordan went up against hand checking and zone (which wasnt allowed) but Kobe didnt.
How convenient for you.
Plus Jordan spent much of his career in the 80s were defensive teams numbers were poorer in comparison to today across the board.
But let me guess, that was because teams were better offensively. Not because they were worse defensively right?
lol
JamesCole8 3 years ago
Its not a convenience, its a FACT. I will upload video after video after video proving that today's rules are weak. And I will also upload video after video of past eras, playing a zone defense and illegal defense NOT being called in a consistent basis.
So better defensive numbers means better defense? Tell that to T. Prince, Bowen, KG and the other 2 good defenders. They don't have stats that pop out, but are still considered top defenders.
Rewatch some of the old games and compare.
andgar923 3 years ago
I WILL START TO CONCENTRATE ON THE SO-CALLED BETTER DEFENSIVE TEAMS OF THE MODERN ERA FROM NOW ON.
This isn't to discredit an individual player, but to prove that the entire NBA as a whole is easier. I chose Kobe for starters, since his fans are the most vocal and sadly to say, many are very ignorant and have been spreading the most LIES.
I have covered Arenas, Wade, Bron, Iverson and will continue to cover them. My biggest obstacle is finding enough footage and having time.
andgar923 3 years ago
Check out my Jordan sucks playlist to view more vids that deal with the same issue. I try to present FACTS and not fairy tales. I don't distort reality, I just show what many people either miss or don't want to admit. I try to be informative and entertaining.
From now on I will focus on the supposed better defensive teams of today.
Peace to "all" the viewers including the Matt Fish fans.
(except for Joe Wolf fans... they know what they did)
andgar923 3 years ago
And anyone who has the time can just as easily upload a video of a defense from the 80s or 90s and go into detail as to how different the positions/placemmts of certain defenders would be if zone was allowed.....
JamesCole8 3 years ago
And as far as the 3 second defensive rule goes, there was NO REASON for there to be that rule in Jordans era because no zone defense was allowed. Meaning a player had to be guarding his man to begin with.
The fact that a defensive player can now be in the middle for 2 seconds without guarding anyone (2 more seconds than Jordans era) means there are less lanes now.
People who use that rule to somehow prop Jordan are wrong and simply dont know what they are talking about.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
The zone wasn't legal, but was allowed. Just how the handcheck has always been a foul of sorts, but allowed. The illegal defense rules were called very rarely, about once or twice a game. You could hear the coaches and players scream "illegal" during the entire game, but the call was rarely made. Go look at my Jordan sucks playlist for further proof of that.
andgar923 3 years ago
If you're going to say that illegal defense was allowed and never called you can just as easily say that about handchecking in todays NBA.
Allen, Pierce and Bowen got away with handchecking Kobe all series long with no call.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
Do you know how easy it would be for me to make a video of Jordan scoring on bad defenses (espeically in the 80s)
People act as if Jordans ENTIRE career and EVERY regular season he ever played was against the Pistons or the Knicks
lol
JamesCole8 3 years ago
You're correct you can do that. Of course not every defense he faced was as great. BUT the avg defense back then was superior than the avg defense today. The rules allowed for more contact and players to roam on freely on defense and the contact that was allowed made it harder for the offensive players to get position or create shots. Every player, coach, analyst will tell you past eras were more physical, stop ignoring the FACTS.
andgar923 3 years ago
Yeah because Jordan NEVER EVER faced a bad defensive team.
Only Kobe does.
The double standard is hilarious.
And really, hand checking is one of the uncalled rules in the NBA, especially in the playoffs. Celtics got away with it all series long in the playoffs.
So really, Kobe went up against a zone AND hand checking.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
Jordan faced plenty of bad defensive teams for his era. But even those defensive teams were better in comparison to today's teams.
Prove to me that the Celtics were handchecking, cuz I sure as fuck didn't see it. At least not REAL handchecking. I see a small weak handcheck from time to time nowadays, but its called a foul 90% of the time.
Again.. watch my Jordan sucks playlist.
Dont worry, the list is only gonna get bigger and bigger.
andgar923 3 years ago
dis dude who made this video is trying to be funny!... how bout load up the video when kobe drop 62pts on the mavericks in three quaters buddy!and the mavericks had the best defense that year!... no excuse there... still killed the best defense that year!...how bout when he drop 53 against houston last year!.. they have one of the best defense to.. especially when yao ming is in the middle!...u didnt prove ur point whoever made this video... be fair if u want to prove point..and u didnt at all!
kobebeast24 3 years ago
I'm actually gonna make the vid, thanks for reminding. You should check out my other vids to show the difference.
I can pick ANY game from the modern era to prove my point. Its not that the defense is that bad, its just that the RULES don't allow them to play. I just picked this vid at random, But I'ma start using the so called "good" defensive teams to prove it. My schedule is gonna be busy this week, but by next week I guarantee you I'll upload a vid dissecting your precious defense.
andgar923 3 years ago
Make sure you include all of Kobe's assists from the Mavs game too. LOL!!! And for the record the Mavs did not have the best defense that year, although after that whomping by Kobe they did make a point of improving it.

i think kobe nutlickers should look no further as to WHY the NBA changed the rules. You think it was to make defenses, tougher?? Go ahead and laugh out loud, the NBA would never do that. It was, by admission, to increase scoring. You saw how Boston handled kobe, that was old school defense, and virtually no zone played at all...all help man-to-man, no different from the past.
bwink23 3 years ago
Can someone explain how going against a handcheck is tougher than going against a zone when one rule (handcheck) only affects ONE player while the zone affects the ENTIRE DEFENSIVE scheme of a team.
And when Jordan gets easy shots moving off the ball and faking his opponents is was because he was so damn good.
When Kobe does it its because the defenses suck.
Jordan nutriders are funny.
JamesCole8 3 years ago
Great question, I was afraid nobody was gonna ask it. What happens handchecking slows you down for a split second at worst, or can completely stop you. Also, if you noticed how I pointed out Kobe without the ball, it allows him to get easy position without the handcheck, the defender loses track of him. But more importantly, since the defensive player is afraid of picking up a foul, they back away. That's why you saw players backing away from him avoiding all contact as much as possible...
andgar923 3 years ago
he was given alot of room to operate and roam around without any obstruction. The non physical rules, also allow today's players to create more room.
andgar923 3 years ago
Kobe's a great player, but for some to say today's defense and defenders is/are better is incorrect. In "theory" they should be better. The zone by design is supposed to stop the offense by forcing them into bad situations. Today's players are in some degrees better athletes. But all of that is negated by the rules that give the offensive player the advantage. Since there's lil to no contact allowed, the zone becomes a huge hole, today's players although great athletes don't know how to...
andgar923 3 years ago
play defense. This is more of the norm today, than in past eras.
andgar923 3 years ago
In past eras, at the very LEAST, the defender had a hand on the offensive player. Sure there was defensive breakdowns and bad defendsive teams and players. But it wasn't as prevalent as it is today, and the rules favored the defense more than today. Even Jamelle Hill acknowledged defenders were better back then. What's the point of being 6'8 if you have to play the offensive player so far away? or you can't contest every shot cuz you'd pick up a foul? the 6'8 player becomes 6'4 by default....
andgar923 3 years ago
due to their inability to play the man up close and body them up. Cuz they're afraid of picking up a foul.
andgar923 3 years ago
I can explain. Jordan faced both zone and handchecking.
Defenses were allowed to use zone, doubling, tripling and trapping. Teams were occassionally called for "illegal defense" when doubling a player BEFORE they have the ball.
When zone was FORMALLY legalized, you could double a player who doesn't have the ball, and instead...
defensive 3 seconds, defending with your forearm, handchecking, "impeding" the ball carrier, "impeding" a player running a screen are now illegal defense.

branslowski16 3 years ago
No, I never mentioned that. What Kobe did in this game IS impressive, BUT its not as grandiose as many wish to believe. You have defensive players AVOIDING you, in many possessions. There's many uncontested shots, that look contested in regular speed, but the men are just standing there. This vid was made to prove a point, not to necessarily diss him. And YES some shots are nice, he does hit some tough shots, but lets be real here. The defender is 3 ft away at times, same goes for lebron.

Good job with the annotations bro. This is nice! Mine is on the way RIGHT NOW!! It's already uploading.
