@666767 not all of us "yanks" are the same... there are plenty of strict Euro style carpers in the states... always using unhooking mats and proper nets to protect our fish is common practice, as well as advanced rig and baiting campaign techniques learned from the Euro legends (Warwick, Fairbrass, Hutchinson, etc...)

here's how we catch river carp in pittsburgh pa ...one way anyhow is to put a slip sinker on first depends on how fast the current is moving as to how big sinker is ,then a round small split shot to keep slip sinker on ,about 3 feet or nmore from the hook,then the hook goes on and load it up with corn ....i repeat load it up hiding the point if possible then youre ready to fish

never fish pva bags full of boilies on braid unless the braid is about 3 inches long. pva bags full of particle on a short braid/small hook with small particle hookbait works well as carp will pick up and move around with their heads still down. the short braid will nail them. if you use boilies, try not to use a pva bag unless its a stick mix! just scatter the boilies as the carp always right themselves after picking one up! use a chod or a very short braid hooklink.

@bumpyjason well the fish are feeding on the boilie as they normally would with particle as the boilie is crushed and the freebies are close together, if it was a spread of round boilies i would understand but with chops the carp will feed as they do with particle

i agree! i think they way they are fishing is totally wrong! personally if i am fishing a small pva mesh bag full of chops, i would use a simple 8inch 15lb fluorocarbon/longshank set upwith half of a boilie bottom bait on the hair. set up! the pva bag full of chops on the hook helps with the mechanics of the rig! the carp will come down and suck in the lot but always spit some out! the stiffer fluorocarbon will help keep the hook in. as it backs off it will always hook itself.
