  • @BIGpipefilms nintendo wii ha ha ha nintendo stupid. Yeah and sony made a new thing called playstation move it is another crap shot out of sony's ass. It looks like a wii controller with a bulb on it.

  • the early kinect prototype lol

  • ahahahahah sega kinect in 1993

    microsoft kinect in 2010

    ahahah microsoft ridiculous

  • @LYONNAIS69FUNK Sony Eyetoy 2000

    hahaha Sony stupid

  • I remember this item, it was so off that people gave up on it...

This and the power glove in my eye's were useless!

  • @MrZeldafan4life But the Activator actually works. The problem is the sensors are so small, you have to be accurate.

  • Why do people keep saying the wii ripped them off?The kinect is more like this then the wii. Nintendo had the wii controls back on the duck shooting game with the orange gun.

  • You know something is wrong with you if the first thing you think is, "Damn! The chroma for this video is so bad!

  • "wouldn't it be great if they invented a dance routine..."

    OMG this guy invented DDR

  • this looks better then wii ps move and kinect

  • love sega but this interface is trash and that's why it didn't get as big as wii. functionality is nothing without an interface that makes sense

  • Sega was thinking about this stuff way before the wii!

  • Even though this thing was a piece of shit, it was very innovative for the time being. Wii totally ripped them off

  • @cbazan66

Okay... I'm tired of hearing people say "So-and-so ripped that company off." EVERY GAME is a ripoff of those who came before it. Anything that uses a controller is a ripoff of the first controller. The analog stick is a ripoff of the joystick. Every RPG steals elements of those that worked before it. Kinect is only here because of the Wii. Same with the Move. CARS are ripoffs of the first car ever made.

  • @DrScotchDrinker yeah I was actually having a debate on music over this same discussion with some people on the Trivium page. I understand that influence is one thing and blatant plagiarism is another. You can't deny the influence though. Sega was a company that itself was influenced by Nintendo (Sonic the Hedgehog) and in turn influenced many great game systems. In my opinion they pushed the bar further when it came to controversy and violence in games. Influence is a circular debate.Understood

  • man.... i really want to play that thing.....

  • kinect copied it

  • Tumbs up for 1:33 :D

  • ...wut.

  • he just gave japan the idea for dance dance revolution. wtg gary.

  • gay intro

  • Not bad, really. It feels like there was room for improvement, but people were just not interested about that kind of thing at that time.

  • At least the Activator was made by Sega, unlike the U-force that Nintendo didn't bother with >.>

  • 1:14 "aw fuck!"

  • kinect of the 90s

  • Yet another Sega innovation that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are profiting from... Oh well, at least Sega have left behind a great legacy, despite others reaping the benefits from their innovations.

  • @Jagged85 Sega also had a system in develpment after the Game Gear with touchscreen. But it was shelved because the technology at the time was too expensive. Then as you know latter came out the Nintendo DS.

  • @Jackiechan39

Sega were also behind other innovations often credited to Nintendo, like for example: electronic light guns, side-scrolling graphics, stereoscopic 3D gaming, and even the platformer genre.

  • due hello? the technology was unheard of back then let alone cost effective. it was a new idea and the tech to use it back then was expensive! these days with kinect. it uses motion sensing cameras. that's so cheap even the Nintendo dsi has it as a side attraction. motion sensing cameras are cheap as hell now so are IR beams! back then a duel sensing pillar of IR x8 was seriously expensive to make!

  • Kinect of poor version.

  • @doujindance Well the Activator was $150 and that's in the 90s. The Kinect is $130-140 and that's in 2011.

  • @doujindance probably cost alot more money to produce this than the kinect you know.

  • wow, its the fkin view. guess my older cousins suffered too :(

  • Marciano wasn't in that game!

  • selling my kinect and picking this up!

  • @gramkracka22 lol! yeah if you can find it its probably 20 bucks now XD i would totally get this instead!

  • This baby kicks the Move, Wii and the Kinect :D

  • Wouldn't It be great if you could come up with some kind of dance routine?

    I don't know about that.........Dance central.

  • Oh shit, the black bitch from House of Payne is in the vid :0

  • Atleast this recognizes black people.

  • @remember4eva no shit, dumb fuck this was made in the 90's.

  • Kinect circa 1994, any one want to bet Sega's going to sue Microsoft for copying the Activator

  • 150$!! and you guys think kinect is expensive, lol.

  • People say Kinect copied the eyetoy. But who's to say the eyetoey didn't copie this? thumbs up if you agree

  • @1WhoDr lol, because this is based on 3D and eye toy is just a camera.... don't try to be s smart ass.....

  • @1WhoDr thumb this attention whore down

  • 0:14 Does she say "low-cost healthcare dinosaurs"?

  • @danarbaugh no i think she says low cost health care diner sores

  • Comment removed

  • Kinect <<<< Move, Eyetoy, and Activator

  • @jleack Move kicks kinect's ass, LOL

  • Almost as bad as the Kinect advertisment on that shopping channel

"Look now we both stand on the raft" Nope ..

  • 1:17

    Did he just say "fuck"?!?!?

  • @WillisTron No

  • @WillisTron HAHA he did.

  • Thanks for putting up this Kinect video.

  • @danarbaugh this is not kinnect idiot

  • $150 dlls... O.O...!!!!

  • rofl I remember seeing this in the store when I was little XD

  • i like his sweater

  • Low cost health care dinosaurs...?

  • I was curious bout Kinect and I just watched a few vids on it. The way they described it sounded awesome, but when I watch the gameplay I can't help but think of his piece of crap. After reading the comments I can see I'm not the only one.

  • i just found one of these in my garage. i don't even own my sega anymore

  • wtf

  • Kinect's old dad

  • Hey u guys forgot to take the the TV of VCR input to Video 2...

  • kinectavator:P:P

  • some one needs jello pudding pops white guy got cosby sweeter this just proves history repetes it self segas activator price $150 bucks vs xbox konnect price $ 150 bucks if sega failed at this idea im sure xbox will too dont buy konnect its just better graphics

  • Kinect is that you?

  • LOL so it took Nintendo 20 years to copy this and they didn't even improve the graphics.

  • Oh look, ITS NATAL'S OLDER AND WISER BROTHER.

  • 1:15 sounds like he says "AWWWW FUCK"

  • Genesis Owned . Xbox 360 Fail :o

  • 150 dollars for a controller is inexpensive, lol. That lady is either stupid or rich (or both).

Microsoft hasn't learned from the past. The activator failed horribly and I don't see the Kinect doing them any wonders (aside from the initial sales from people thinking it'll be the next big thing)

  • ellen degeneres wii giveaway, parade writer testing natal out with his family

  • fucking awsome

  • Full body motion control for 150 dollar.... sounds like kinect

  • Um, Marciano threw like, 3-5 punches for every one that she threw, what a piece of monkey shit, James the Angry VG Nerd should take a look at this waste of space..

  • oh look its KINECT, oh wait...

  • And this is way before Wii Sports Boxing. ^_^

  • neither Eyetoy or sega activator were very successful. if kinect does any better depends on how well it works and advertised. but in my opinion wii and psmove are going in the right direction by allowing you to play any type of game using buttons

  • LMAP that is the worst sweater I ahve ever seen

  • $150 for a motion detecting controller.. no wonder it failed.

I mean, no one would be that stupid nowadays would they?

  • @Sneckster more like xbox's new kicnet or what ever you call it

  • $150 for a motion detecting controller.. no wonder it failed.

I mean, no one would be that stupid nowadays would they?

  • @Sneckster You're forgetting this was 1993. Kinect is $150 today where as Activator's $150 price tag then would be more around $220 today.

  • Look how amazed the dumb moms are.....

  • Can I buy this for the Wii?

  • Ps3 Move? Xbox 36 Natal? Fucking Wii? All Came From This?

  • I know that this thing was crap, but Im just impressed that this was possible back in the 90's.

  • Wait... Natal?

  • Wow, a 3D peripheral without a 3D game :D that was really useful!

  • $150?!! That was a lot of money back then. You could almost pay for another genesis for that amount.

  • This might look laughable today but its not. Motioncontrol was difficult to make it perfect.

  • Someone should have hired a better marketer for this product instead of a yuppie soccer mom who probably never sat down and played a video game from start to finish.

  • @OCDGamer leave cammie dunaway's mom alone! :P

  • Relatively inexpensive...

  • If this wasnt succesful why should natal be succesful ?

  • Better than Natal 10000 times.

  • idiotic

  • "A relatively inexpensive way to get your aggression go."

  • Wii its no original... fanboys xD

  • This is a great alternative to marriage counseling!

  • Every time I watch this, I can't get over how white these people are. Even the black lady in the beginning to white.

  • People are wrongly infromed, nintendo already had a device similar in concept, it didn't work and neither did this.

  • SEGA was always waaaay ahead of their time and that was the reason they "failed" It takes AGES to be this good ;)

  • da bomb

  • You fail at promoting one of the crappiest controllers ever

  • i wonder why ign ranked this their 3rd worst controller of all time?

  • As usual SEGA was the innovator to a concept that it has taken others years (in this case more then a decade) to catch up to. Unfortunately SEGA no longer does any hardware.

  • Before Wii and Shitbox 360

  • Last time I checked, $150 in the earlier 90s was kinda of a lot of money.

  • Yep, I remember my brother buying his sega genesis and two games from a friend for $50 in '91 or '92.

  • @Shadowhog not really, a supernintendo or megadrive game costed 120 guilders in my country. so a gadget costing around that, pretty cheap.

  • @Shadowhog As it is now.

  • $150?!

  • jesus christ...

  • I like how casually she says its only a 150 dollars. lol I remember my cousin got this I thought it was soo cool but he only played it a few times I wonder why.

  • Fuck Natal.This is awesome

  • i came here to post that xD

  • what was truly funny is that one of them says . "its an relatvly inexpencinve way to work your aggrestions out" inexpencive $150 really?

  • they're doin it wrong!!!

  • its the uforce for the genesis

  • the lady says siga instead of sega.

  • Epic FAIL XD

  • @Tiagos360 how the fuck you say that this is a fail , you think there was a stupid kinect in 1990s , you think that it was easy to companies to create something like this in the 1990s , youre a dump ass especially if youlinke the xbox , because if you like the xbox , that mean that you got mad becausexbox copied this

  • It looks like this is something like the tech of the Wii!

  • it looks like shit

  • it may look likw shit ,but this thing is the Wiimote's and natal's caveman ancestor.

as much as I dont like the concept, it seems to make Nintendo lots of money

  • SEGA

  • Pj Natal... ashuashuuhuahsua

  • looks more fun than the Natal 'Milo' borefest. I would drown that creepy little bastard at the very first opportunity.

  • This is just a small reminder that the idea of motion control is nothing new, but the proper technology to implement it just was not available. $150!?! That is what a Genesis cost at launch! Also, remember the U-Force for the NES?

  • I miss SEGA T_T

  • they needed to make a sex game for this to take off.

  • She beat the shit out of him.

  • your moms a motion control

  • Looks just like Natal!

  • way to take comments on youtube way too literal.

  • Its called a joke. jeez

  • Your perception of sarcasm is astounding.

  • COOL STORY BRO

  • if they brought this back, it can completely run the Wii's dry :P

  • lullllllllllz

  • holy shit he said fuck at 1:17

  • Ahahahahahahaha, that's great!

  • No turn your freaking volume up he said

"aeehh no.... come on get in there"

  • yes and i couldnt stop laughing

  • No he said "cmon"

  • i think it was a fad that died at birth like alot of the other shit that is produced whether it is nintendo, sega or any other makers

the power glove, the pad that laid on the ground the only decent one i can think of was the guns or steering wheel

even some of the other joy sticks or controllers were terrible

im sure ther will be some better ones to come

  • oh the 90's such a great time

  • He got beat up by a girl who didn't even touch him. Maybe bruised egos sank the product.

  • Comment removed

  • i bet that is not even conected

  • i love how the wii says their innovative when this makes the wii get ass raped in all holes

  • SEGA Activator.Such a fragile design, and sometimes unresponsive.I dunno whether choose this or the Power Glove or testing the VR back in those days.Maybe this is,like the Dreamcast Remote, the closest approach to virtual reality(this one right before Virtual Boy and Wii),and possibly another of Wii's grandparents

  • I hate it when people who know nothing about videogames start talking about videogames.

  • TATTALY AGREED!

  • You don't get it do you Mr. Casual/Soccer Mom? Most if not all REAL gamers start playing videogames at a young age, like during their childhood which then becomes a part of their growing up like their hobby. It's these kind of people who actually CARE about this industry and who are open minded on probably anything. But the people in the video are in their 30's-40's, don't give a shit if the industry dies, and probably blamed Marilyn Manson for Columbine based soley on his appearance alone.

  • My problem is with people PRETENDING to know about videogames. I also hate Casual gamers and people who make fun of the industry but are NOT FUNNY. The people in the video fall below Casual gamers.

  • @neon6 This was 20 years ago. 20 years ago, the average gamer was a ten year old who bought snes cartridges with his allowance money.

  • @jmrwacko Damn, holmes, my posts resemble that of a 12 year old prepubescent American child (What the fuck was I on last year?). But I think my point still stands. If gamers like us aren't there, who's going to support the developers? The people in the video? You think they're going to pressure the Japanese developers to get with the times and start making games for this generation? They're going to thank Valve for their free DLC policy? Admire the stories in Bioshock and Mass Effect?

  • @jmrwacko Like some other guy said, casual gamers just play these games for awhile and then put them away. Most of them can't maintain interest for very long because they just don't have the time or the money to get every Achievement/Trophy and they want to get back to their regular life style with their families. Of those 73.97 million people who bought a Wii, how many of them bought a 3rd party game not made by Nintendo (No More Heroes, House of the Dead Overkill, Metal Slug)?
