  • Is this song on any of your albums?

  • love the song and the pollywog action at the end

  • I saw your show at Club Passim this past weekend!!! You played this song, and I am completely smitten :)) love love love this! Love you!!!~V

  • that guitar has zebra binding, a cutaway, 12 tuning machines, but only 6 strings? Sounds amazing too - very lively top. I donna ken whar it come from!

  • it's actually a bajo sexto- 12 string bass (but the thin ones are hard to see on youtube).

  • How old is this song?

  • Hey Tim was the intern at one of your sessions at the studio,Hope all is well;Love this song! Thanks

  • what tune you use on the 12 string guitar?

  • There's a Bible quotation: "Set me as a seal upon thine heart, for love is as strong as death." It was sung at the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson (I can't remember the composer). Well, that didn't last -- but I still like the quotation, and I think it applies here.

  • we sang that in choir!

  • What scene is that close to the end? (With the tree and the barn? in the distance.)

  • Lovely video as always. I love the lilacs at the beginning and the birdsong at the end, along with the strings ringing their last note.

I love the sound of the bajo sexto. You always seem to pick just the right instrument to accompany the song -- or else your accompaniment just goes so well that any instrument you picked would sound like just the right one.

The ornaments you put in your singing sound a lot like those used by the Sean Nos singers in Ireland.

  • The Irish influence is certainly big here. I appreciate the close listening- as I always say, we're pretty fortunate in life if we find even one person willing to listen to us for a minute. (I think of the people in, say Darfur, Massachusetts or Minnesota who don't have that luxury). The background at the end is just a dairy farm I happened to be sitting by where I filmed on the Plum Springs trail in Amherst.

  • I imagine that the Irish influence would be big in New England. It's also big in Minnesota, as you probably know. However, your singing, for as long as I've heard it, has always had those ornaments that reminded me of the Lees or of Sean Nos singers. Maybe you learned it from the Irish influence out there? Anyway, the way you do it is both interesting and lovely.

  • As always Tim, absolutely brilliant. Are you going to release a new album in the not too distant future?

  • I'll have one out by the fall. It's all recorded and ready to go. In the meantime, there's a live CD on a Czech label coming out this month. Check my website for updates...

  • can't get it out of my head! Especially the first guitar rip..

  • gorgeous

  • looking up the lyrics, its awesome how she escaped the cruelty of her father in the irish version, i guess? for when i first read the title i thought of loves intangibility, and the new england version seems to be more of that? anyhow, really neat (:

  • i really appreciate how these are sung outside, they belong out there (besides a place inside of yourself) and this is something very prodigious. thankyou for all the justice you bring to all these historic songs tim eriksen!! God bless.

  • I was playing this song while I was getting ready for a party...A friend of mine, from southern Ohio came in and asked me what I was listening to. I told him who you were and what you sang...Needless to say +1 fan to your art Tim!

  • Beautiful. Nice touch as always with seasonal flora and fauna.

  • very nice....awesome sound...k

  • What else can one say: Superb!

    Jim

  • Nice shot of the tadpole! I love taking my kids out in the spring to check out all the creepy crawlers that are emerging. Great video, I enjoy the sound of the bajo sexto. Yeah spring!

  • Listening to your music takes my heart 'elsewhere'.

It's a lovely video, a wonderful song and you are an amazing artist.

That was a bit like sitting out in the woods with a friend and having a listen. :)

    Loved it very much :)

  • The birdsong accompaniment is way cool, too! And has the United Statesian obesity epidemic extended even to our tadpoles?

  • That bajo sexto has a great sound.

  • Another stunning clip Tim. I've followed your music since the Cordelia's Dad days and you continue to amaze me with your creative interpretations and love of the tradition. This clip has extra poignancy for me because I remember hearing Rosie Stewart sing while I was growing up in Northern Ireland. She is an amazing singer of traditional songs...keep up the good work!

  • This is a fantastic video & song!

Your phrasing in this song is great!

  • Tim, If another musician makes better dedicated YouTube videos I've yet to see them.

  • Agreed completely.
