I have 1g ram in the one im using, with two available slots. i pulled out my ram from my other computers, and the number does NOT match the number currently inside my computer. what would happen if i put the foreign ram stick inside my comp? would it still work properly?

it will work yes,

say for instance, you have 512mb ram and you want to insert another 1024mb = 1gb

you put a 1gb stick into the comp and it will recognise 1.5gb

but,

make sure the ram is the same type, if its 168pin ddr

240pin ddr2 ect ect

but, if you do wish to venture getting more than 3GB of ram, you must have a 64bit operating system, as 32bit only recognised 3GB

i currently have 8GB DDR3 ram in my computer, and it runs outstandingly.

oh and if your wondering, more ram = more speed

an 8400gs is a very low end card,

outdated as such,

a cheap alternative in the 8series is a 8600/8800 which runs cod 4 perfect,

or if you really want a performance boost try getting one of the newer 200 series cards.

its good, But its not hardcore, but it will let you run crysis with medium settings. but if you are going all out, around 6-8GB will do the job very nicely, make sure your motherboard and CPU can use it all though, or you will be wasting money.

Ram is not a big issue in-terms of performance, all you will need is about 3 - 4 GB of Ram to play Crysis on highest provided you have a High end graphics card and processor. You don't need 6-8 GB Ram unless you're running really Ram consuming Programs.
