  • Memories....love n miss my mom....Love u mommy..Fuck Cancer

  • When I was younger, I thought they were in love..

I was so disappointed to find out they were siblings. :(

  • oh dear 4 people don't have a candy heart and have never got paper flowers :( xxxx

  • While the incest jokes are a bit much, there's an interesting point hiding there. Those who are familiar with the history of Raggedy Ann as a character will know that Raggedy Ann and Andy aren't always siblings. There are stories where they are indeed depicted as a couple. They seem to flip back and forth between "couple" and "siblings" as the plot of any particular story demands; while this film goes the "siblings" route, one may legitimately wonder: did the songwriter know that at the time?

  • The 70's dosen't seem so bad now after that, did they ?

  • I grew up watching this film, still enjoy it now, but when I was younger I was under the impression that these two weren't brother and sister :$ oops!

  • I sing this song to make my friends to make them feel better and to let them know how much they really mean to me <3

  • 0:13 I think Ann and Andy need Pinkie Pie's song XD Just kiddin'

  • I'm home with a sore jaw preparing for an emergency root canal tomorrow just after having a cold, and because I'm so sore, worried about how to pay for it, lost job hours etc. I put this song in my iPhone on repeat to help ease myself and help me feel better.

    It works. :)

  • It's nice to see a brother a sister who love each other. With todays immature mode of thinking, someone shouts INCEST when a bro and sis so much as hug each other.

    Love your siblings!

  • Candy hearts and paper flowers is such a wonderful song as it expresses love in a very pure sense. I only wish more stories had any sort of understanding of such themes.

  • Even though the movie does get weird (though weird may be a bit of an understatement), it certainly had it's moments, and this song is one of them. =)

  • Raggedy Ann and Andy is Timeless

  • I doubt when the song was written they wasn't thinking anything incest. Its not meant to be "romantic" between them. However the song can be romantic if between two lovers. Ann and Andy are brother and sister and the song signifies how much they mean to one another since they are all they have in the world. Its sad how today society looks at this scene and thinks incest. The creators would be disgusted.

  • Aww, that's so romantic!

I've always been a sucker for Woody Allen movies.

  • I love andy's voice so much in this <3 its so sweet and calming <3

  • "oh andrew, that's nice..." XD

this song is so cute and sweet, but....im seriously questioning their relationship, not gonna lie :S

  • No different than the rest of the movie. Incestral siblings--because they were quite LITERALLY tailor-made for each other--LSD tripping Camel with suicidal depression, a horny pirate with a perhensile mustache, a French-speaking doll with a large bust, a self-cannibalizing candy creature that wants a "sweetheart" so bad that they'd murder for it, a gay pantless knight who lives off of cruel pranks, a tiny king who wants to be big & so developes a tickle fetish to expand ala a balloon, et al.

  • D'awww...

  • For as trippy and effing bizarre as this film is, I gotta say, this is a pretty nice little song.

  • Andy really needed that paper flower. For a ragdoll being washed and starched is like being paralyzed! D:

  • Andy and his sister shouldn't touch each other so much =P

you can tell they're brother and sister--they have the same first name! o.0 in Doll World, family names come first (ie, Corduroy Bear, Teddy Ruxpin). y'see? O.o

  • There's love other than a date. Raggidy Ann Is to sweet for anyone to fight with, really can you picture Ann and Andy fighting? No. And it fits that there best friends aswell as siblings. Andy is very protective of his sister and Ann worries about Andy. Them being dolls it's the closest relationship I think they'll have.

  • ya know between this and somewhere out there I don't know what to think of love songs between brother and sisters.

I do know that they are very adorable though.

  • I watched this video at least a million times when I was little... listening to it makes me feel happy and worry free again. :)

  • agreed...this is beautiful. shame there isnt more songs out there like this now

  • This was one of those songs that while still with my ex I considered "our song". I don't even care if this is pretty much written for the wrong type of characters. (Seriously, this sounds like a love ballad) It's downright beautiful and definately one of the film's highlights.

  • I used to sing this song all the time to remind me of my brother. He raised me and i miss him a lot. I love you bro. And to lolihateliars....i hope you have met the Raggedy Ann of your dreams.

  • As a victim of abuse, I feel better when I hear this and I cry because it feels happy. Hee hee. Thanks for posting this up. :)

  • wow, lots of old memories of this move! its been over 20 years!

and Andy still seems so sweet even now that Im an adult :P

  • the best song in the film by far. I LOVE IT! X3 Andy is a great singer! I know that voice though, who is it?

  • @KubyPikachuKirby I was curious too..it did sound familiar...I checked it out and IMDd says his name is Mark Baker. It still doesnt ring a bell..I never heard of him...prob will check the name out too.

  • I normally do not like musical movies. But these songs just play and fit so well with the animation. I have a DVD that takes you right to the song scenes. The dolls remind me of my two cats who were left in the woods alone brother and sister too.

  • Aw my mom and I used to sing this song when I was little XD

  • Andy has an amszing singing voice .

  • I wanna dedicate this song to my sister but I'm afraid people will take it the wrong way. But it is definitely a song from sibling to sibling. And nothing means more to me in the world than my sister.

  • this song is so cute. so cute tht i cryed at the end :]

  • the ending when they sang this song, I cried also, it was so sweet when they sang the last bit to the Camel

  • this is one of my faves and No girls toy, its one of the best

  • oh my gosh, this song gets stuck in my head so often, and i could not find out where i remembered it from til i finally typed in it youtube. thank you for posting this. nostalgia gets the best of me sometimes

  • I think it changed depending on the writer. In this movie and the original stories showed them as brother and sister which I thought was more appropriate, But later attempts to 'revive' the character (Ugh, those voices were HORRID) made them a couple instead.

  • I love this song, but i guess it things like this that always confuses people into thinking that they're a couple instead of brother and sister. everytime I draw andy someone says thats

  • there is one cartoon for their first appearance where they were sewn together and ann almost died cuz andy liked another girl... im not sure that they were supposed to be brother and sister at first

  • guevashin: Johnny Gruelle created the characters and his family confirmed that they were always brother and sister. The Fleishers just took creative licensing when they created their cartoon, because Ann and Andy weren't never a couple and The Camel With Wrinkled Knees was always made out of blue tattered materials, as opposed to the color-of-poo brown he was in the Fleisher cartoon.

  • Where did you find that one?

  • It was on youtube. I am not sure where now since it was about a year ago.... try searching for a while I am sure you can find it... If i see it again I will send it.

I am not 100% that they were a couple but the video strongly implied it

  • Thanks...I just happened to see it and boy that one is sad as hell. Whoever knew Raggedy Ann could take her "break-up" so seriously?

  • While it is a nice song, it seems too much of a love song for siblings to sing, like "Somewhere Out There" with thicker subtext.

  • <33.

Thank you for putting this up.

I love Raggedy Ann && Andy.

  • Sorry, that's TAFFY not TOFFEE. Got my words mixed up there.

  • hinata750: She says that later in the movie when Greedy, the toffee guy, says he can't be happy until he has a "sweet heart".

  • who ever is the voice of Andy was a good choice, he makes Andy have a nice sining voice

  • Its Mark Baker. He was only in one other movie: swashbuckler.

  • Oh, Andy's such a sweetheart when it comes to his Ann.

Thanks so much for putting this up.

  • What makes me laugh each time I see this, is that Ann WATCHES as Andy shoves the paper flower down his crotch.

  • what part of the clip is this at, I must keep on missing it

  • This song always reminds me of my big brother

  • She told me it was the first film she ever saw in theatres. I promised I'd sing it to her.

  • Such a sweet song. I love it. I plan on it being the first to sing to my wife-to-be when I finally meet her.

  • That is so sweet and beautiful. And just by wanting to do that I know you will meet the perfect woman to sing it to.

    Much love!

  • And after listening to this again, I am sobbing like a little child at your comment. In a good way.

  • @lolihateliars Ah thats so sweet! :)

  • @lolihateliars Please marry me!

  • Something better than fabulous. A review of Tissa David's animation work is on the Animation Blog, via my profile.

  • I remeber when i was a baby, I went ino hospital and she laid a raggedy ann and andy next to me and sed "watch this film" then ext day she bought a china porcellin dool with blonde curly hair so i called her babette. this film i think got me thru being in hospital because it was comfort!! God bless the gruelle family!!!!!

    xx

  • ...There's no way those two are siblings.

    There's just no way.

  • Technically, Ann & Andy are soul mates. After all, despite the fact that they ARE brother and sister--as Ann herself mentions when we first meet Andy (and as the Gruelle family, who created the books & dolls [in memory of their beloved Marcella, who died at 13 years old] attests to)--they were also hand-sewn from the SAME fabric. The only difference: Ann has a candy heart & Andy has a paper flower, as displayed brillantly in this song.

  • what do u mean ann has a candy haert and anndy has a paper flower i did'nt see ann with a candy heart and how do you know they are sewn from the same fabric?

  • hinata: As Ann herself says later, "I am just a little rag doll with a little candy heart". And I know they were sewn from the same fabric because both were made to be a pair of dolls for the REAL Marcella (too bad Marcella Gruelle--whose family wrote the books and made the dolls--died at 13) & they were said to be brother and sister, and yet, as this film & a Fliesher cartoon shows, they act like solemates more than they act like bro/sis.

  • what do you mean about "The only difference: Ann has a candy heart & Andy has a paper flower".

  • hinata: They're made from the same fabric, with the only difference being that Ann has a little candy heart & Andy has a paper flower.

  • i didn't really hear ann say she had a candy heart

  • hinata: Watch the movie (especially the part with the Greedy). It's here on YT.

  • @Ab082991 well technically since they're dolls they were made, not born, so they dont really have parents so they cant really be siblings. And even the creator said that they were made for each other :3

  • i still have this on video, man this brings back so much memories,

everytime i was ill, i would watch this, and i still do sometimes when im down.

makes me feel so much better, so much more happier :)

  • A Raggedy Ann And Andy CD was released in 2003 with various nursery rhymes on it. It has the instrumental version of this on it :)

Can't seem to find the full version (with words, I mean) anywhere though - it seems everyone's holding on to their LPs from the 70s!

Thank you for posting this :)

  • Oh wow I loved this video so much when I was a kid i had it on a tape. I recently brought it out again and realized how tripy it actually was.

  • Thank you so much for posting this song! I have always loved it. The lines I always remembered were "candy hearts and paper flowers, will always keep me close to you".

  • I had a home made andy n ann n i used 2 make them sing toooo.

n had achina doll n called her babette.

thisd is my fav song from the film

    xx

  • I LOVE THIS SONG... I used to have a home made raggedy Ann doll and I would make her sing this song again and again... great movie :)

makes me wish I didn't have to grow up :(

  • oh gosh i LOVE Andys voice. on the lower notes its like ahhhhhhhhhhh... amazing!

  • Thank you for putting this up. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.

    Really. Thank you.

  • Every time I hear Andy singing this, I feel so much better warm. I can even cry from hearing it. Good memories.

  • I just want to say that I am so glad I uploaded these clips. I never thought so many people would have had the same wonderful experience with this movie that I had. It is truly one of my fondest childhood memories, watching the movie and playing the songs from the record over and over again. I can still sing all the songs word for word - some well... many years later :)

  • OMG!!!!!! My tape disappeared ages ago. I have missed this movie soooooooo much. Thanks for the Warm Fuzzie feeling my heart has. PS If I ever get married I want this song for my first dance.

  • I love this song, but I have to say Andy totally carries it.

Ann's voice is completely off key. But it's so raw which is part of the charm.

  • Apparently Didi Conn had laryngitis when she recorded her dialogue, but the director liked her rawness cause he thought it gave the songs a more emotional quality.

  • YAAAY, Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers! My fave song from the movie! I haven't heard this since our tape of the movie died! Thanks so much for posting it!

  • Can't begin to tell you how happy I am at seeing this posted on here. I saw this in the theatre loooooong time ago & it's a fave of mine :) SUCH a cute movie! :) RA & RA FOREVER! :)
