  • To 'kill the bill' is like Howard Dean killing his own Presidential hopes by screaming it to a screeching halt! Ha ha! lol

Anyone remembers the Dean earlier scream? lol

How quickly the American bird brains forget how INTEMPERATE is Howard Dean, whom I like?

    Now!

If so-called progressives weren't as dumb as the sarah palin crowd, then the progressives would know to PASS THE DAMN BILL!

    Regroup!

Get a few more US Senators elected for a REAL filibuster-proof Senate!

    And IMPROVE THE BILL later!

  • @nirbija you are too short sighted nir. This bill MANDATES people buy private insurance. this is a step in the WRONG direction, not a small step closer. It will make private insurance companies even richer, enabling them to lobby even more effectively and make healthcare reform harder later. Not only that but the bill also allows insurance companies to still indirectly deny you coverage by raising your premiums x3 (such that u cant afford it) it needs to be scrapped.

  • @boorens18

People R ALREADY buying 'private insurance' for their car, house, pets, you name it!

So to not at least buy private insurance for YOUR OWN SELF is kinda silly, eh?

Now if you want to dump private insurance for house, car, etc, we can agree. lol

Insurance companies are now COMPELLED to pay out higher amount of monies collected; & government subsidy will help with your mandate

I may b 'shortsighted'; but U R blind to the FACTS of present bill, which is ALREADY DIFFICULT to pass!

  • @nirbija again you are short sighted. sure subsidies will help....but they run out. Rather quickly. As for current private insurance plans, yes they work just fine...do you know why? Because there is multple companies providing them. Health insurance companies however are so large they have a virtual monopoly per state. Thats why premiums are so high. Again you dont know the facts, and apparently don't understand capitalism.

  • @boorens18

"current private insurance plans, yes they work just fine"?

YES! 'work fine for the greedy thieves who run private insurance', but not fine for millions of Americans some of whom do have insurance!

So-called 'monopolies' DO NOT rob people!

Monopolies DO NOT have consciousness to decide to gouge customers!

People who run private insurance rob people!

The single payer system in Canada, say, IS a monopoly; yet Canadians ARE NOT gouged!

I'm sure clueless you R one 'child left behind'!

  • @nirbija dude you really gotta take your time and read more carefully. I was referring to car insurance etc plans working just fine not health insurance. I was pointing out the difference between the two. As for monopolies...yes they do gouge customers....the reason canada's single payer doesnt is because its not a monopoly you fool, its socialized. You do know that a monopoly is PRIVATELY held right? Not run by the government. You are just clueless. And foolish

  • No!

Monopoly essentially means little or NO COMPETITION!

A government entity CAN be a monopoly.

And the point being made is that monopolies in & of themselves CANNOT gouge!

It is the PEOPLE who run the monopoly who may or MANY NOT decide to gouge!

Anyway, since we got health & car, etc private insurances mixed up, & you agree that health insurance is not working, I don't know what you are still bellyaching about? Especially since the health ins companies are losing their gouging monopolies?

  • @nirbija holy crap....you know nothing of social sciences at all do you? Do you realize that the government isnt a private entity? Its a representation for ALL citizens. In other words ALL citizens own equal portions of said company. its not a monopoly when the government (ie everyone) runs it.

Ps no healthcare companies are strengthening their monopoly. This bill has a mandate that REQUIRES everyone purchase insurance from them. Plus they can triple your premiums (essentially deny u)

  • Come on now!

Let's not get too hifalutin with unnecessary appeal 'social sciences' distraction

Just learn the prefix in word 'monopoly' & you will come to understand that monopoly can apply to BOTH government entities and to private entities

With present Health Care Bill, there is MORE COMPETITION; old monopolistic opportunities no longer exist.

Citizens are allowed CHOICES in the health care exchanges; so foolish & greedy executives will easily price themselves out of the market

    New day, baby!

  • @nirbija Dude...are you not listening? A monopoly does not apply to socialization. A monopoly is buy definition an exclusive right to distribute and/or produce. The government BY DEFINITION is the representitive for ALL citizens. Therefore, socialization is in essence giving the rights to ALL citizens equally. Its the exact opposite of a monopoly. With the present healthcare there is NO COMPETITION. There is a state by state monopoly. What is your beef with the public option exactly?

  • @boorens18

I have no 'problem with the public option'!

Only, the votes are not there for a public option!

The aim of the trouble making republicons is to create so much heat & smoke that nothing gets done; so that the voters will next time around blame the party in power for not delivering much

And Obama, wisely, wants to avoid the time-wasting disruption & distraction at the present time in order to accomplish something for Americans

Public option can be added in the future

  • How about this? How about Alan Graysons proposed HR 4789 bill. Its 4 pages....nice and simple. Its basically a medicare buy-in.

How about this bill? Are you in favor for this?

  • @boorens18

I think that you are misreading my pragmatic position on 'need to have the VOTES'! Just having fancy proposals is not enough!

Whatever Rep Grayson is for, I'm on-board.

However, unless the US Senate goes to simple majority on legislation, there are going to be obstacles from the self-loathing & pain in the behind democrats.

There would have been public option & Medicare buy-in, if that traitor lie-berman was a true democrat & not being a sellout to the ins companies in Connecticut

  • @nirbija if U look at the prefix in the word 'monopoly' you will see that 'mono' means ONE. the only monopolies the government seems to exercise is that of war making and the erosion of our civil liberties with stuff like the Patriot Act. and i must admit they exercise those monopolies like idiots. but when discussing the heath care issue the word monopoly takes on its true meaning: ONE company controlling the market, eliminating choice altogether. that's not capitalism the way i was taught.

  • @nirbija my guess is that your health care monopoly doesn't gouge because it's controlled by the government and the people. such isn't the case south of your border. here, monopolies gouge precisely because they're not peopled by individuals with a conscience. we will always be many steps behind U because money drives most political debates here, therefore there will be no National Health Care system in my beloved country.

  • @Trommylee Right! Government-run health care system are inclined to gouge less.

However, such systems tend to be less innovative.

So the trick is to have systems with a balance between innovation and cost containment, while keeping an open eye for the criminals who are always looking practice thievery, BOTH in government and private sector.

  • Dems DO NOT have a filibuster-proof caucus in US Senate!

Dean DOES NOT HAVE USA Senate vote!

JUDAS joe lie-berman & nelson DO!

There are so-called democrats who are as ENVIOUS & as opposed to Obama as republicons!

What is it about the above statements that puerile so-called progressives find so hard to accept?

Obama did well by investing records amount in America's decrepit mis-educational system.

Maybe so-called progressives will go to school, grow brains & stop being dumb as republicons!

  • @nirbija George W. Bush never had a filibuster-proof senate but got all of his big bills passed. YOU DON'T NEED 60..

  • If 'you don't need 60' US Senators, then you provide the required # of Demo-cats for a so-called 'robust public option' & better health care bill?

The wild bush got his way because it is MUCH EASIER to herd republicon goats than it is to herd mindless Demo-cats!

In addition & apart from being spineless, many blue DOG Demo-cats are republicon DINO-saurs -- Democrats In Name Only

Obama is a Harvard lawyer, a university professor, & an EXPERIENCED Senator

He knows well the political prostitutes!

  • *smh* I should have voted for Hillary

  • So whom did you vote for, john mc kaint? lol

you 'should have voted for hillary'; so that you could watch hillary care DIE again? lol

  • Obama would make a better republican than a Democrat IMO.

  • he's got one of those names..he could be dean howard

  • obama's a great pres the world just full of moaners

  • Obama is the best Republican President ever!

  • change? i'd bet a lot of people wnat their dollar back, and not just the ones given to bail out the banks

fuck it, I'd buy some want their VOTE back

  • Washington DC is not America. America is 3.5 million square miles of free citizens. Washington is just 68 square miles of self-obsessed insanity surrounded 3.5 million square miles of relative sanity.

  • It's time to split and see if there's room in Canada for one more. This country is ruined beyond repair and the only thing we do well anymore is kill innocent people.

  • It'll happen when we crash in the next few years... I see the US being the USSR

  • The USSR is over with. It's the Federated Commonwealth or some other nonsense now. It's total open market and open season on everything, and instead of gangsters like they have , we have politicians who think they were elected by God running amok.

  • I own property (land), which should be as good as gold in retaining actual value, but unfortunately, with property, the government can always choose to take to take it away/seize it for itself.

As for the obamacare bill, the truth is, if it were a bill that would reduce healthcare costs and increase healthcare efficiency, it would have attracted 100 votes from the senate.

  • @Codger45caliber your comment assumes that even Republicans are interested in governance. that's miles from true. in addition there are plenty of Democrats who wouldn't have voted for the best bill man could create because they're beholden to the insurance/drug companies. the sole agenda of Republicans is to see Obama fail; they have no willingness to even participate in a debate and have input of their own. They are simply 'The Party of NO', nothing more.

  • @Codger45caliber untrue. If it lowered profits for insurance companies i doubt it would have garnered republican support. republicans bankrupted this country pumping money into...forget it. Read up on crony capitalism. true conservatives/libertarians loath the GOP even more than they do the dems.dems tax and spend for the perceived good of the people wile the GOP borrow and spend for the good of the few. halliburton and blue cross sure ate well during the bush years

  • You think the crap going on now is scary just wait until the dollar takes the value hit. Could happen anyday.... Got silver and gold ?

  • I'm VERY disappointed in Obama, but Lieberman should be beaten to death.

  • I wouldn't want Lieberman to be harmed, but would like the voters in his state to give a nice retirement package (no votes in the next senate election).

  • Screw him, you think the voters in his state (not to mention the millions outide his state) aren't being harmed?

How dare this man hold the nation hostage? he should be beaten to near death, nursed back to health and then let someone else have a shot at him...

  • The 2010 election is now just 290 days away.

  • We need to pass something because the bill will give the senator from Louisiana 100 million dollars for her vote. She needs that 100 million dollars.

  • yep Obama sucks IMO now... thats not to say he cant make a come back its only the end of the first year but he has a lot of shit to make up for now..losing the health care bill...(after wasting a year on it)...not crippling the republicans who are taking full advantage of the situation bye crippling obama, and oh yeah sending 30k more troops to a now pointless country (afghanistan) and yes its useless to go there now get over it the war has been over for a while we won terroists lost good fight

  • Obama and Lieberman American closet republicans.

  • All this bill will do is throw money away. I'd like to see Obama stand up to his party and get some real reform through. The "supermajority" in the Senate is a curse in disguise, as it creates the illusion of Democratic control. When a Republican breaks the party line, it is news. When a Democrat does it, it is, well, same ole same ole.

  • Fuck Obama and Lieberman

  • @johnny718bravo obama and lieberman are fucking bitches

  • lofl this is so true the thing that will make healthcare reform not happen isnt even a bill and ha bisky upload the truth rules

  • This current "bill" isn't real reform. It is the health insurances wet dream.

  • i dont even no if u can call it a bill

  • obama is just the democratic party's version of bush.

  • fuck Joe LIEberman!

  • fuck all these stallers next election when i can finally vote if its still the same shit im going independant and hoping for the best

  • It's good to see a democrat criticize the democrats.

    Well done.

  • Every other industrialized country in the world makes sure its population has access to basic healthcare. USA is the only industrialized nation that does not guarantee access to health care as a human right. Under HR676 the "Medicare For All" bill a family of four making the median income of $56,200 would pay about $2,700 in payroll tax for all health care costs. No deductibles, no co-pays, no worrying about catastrophic coverage.

  • President Obama is all very busy assuaging the rich. You gotta have some philosophy of leadership. You gotta help the rich keep the poor on a leash. One of these days they will spring their pandemic plan. That ought to control us.

  • Howard Dean: "KILL THE BILL AND START OVER!"

    Barack Obama: "OBAMACARE FOR-PROFIT TWEAK!"

Ron Paul: "OPT OUT WITH MED SAVINGS ACCOUNTS!"

Ralph Nader: "SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE NOW!"

  • Fuck Joe Liebercocksucker.

  • The real problem is that the party runs a bunch of pussies for office. Only a few liberal Dems in Congress have balls. The ones who are against their main tenets, like Blue Dogs, are the only ones with a spine.

Republicans run roughshod over the minority whenever they're in power, but Dems just can't stop capitulating and won't take life by the horns.

  • Obama didn't show much leadership in Illinois, either. He voted present 130 times, if I recall. He voted against BAIPA when even the most liberal Dems voted FOR it, and then he had the audacity to claim it would "hurt Roe." pfft! I'm prochoice, but even I support measures like BAIPA. Once the child is out of the woman's body, it's up to someone to at least try to save it if it survives. You have a moral obligation.

Obama's community organizing seems a bit overstated too.

  • Obama's a Trojan horse. I knew this would happen. Dems put too much faith in him. I mean, he's only human. Sure, he's a step up from Bush, but it looks like his momentum ALREADY is slowing down and fast. The next 3 years probably won't make a difference gov't-wise.

  • It looks like a sure win for the republicans on the next election day when Democrats stay home in droves.

  • Did Obama really lose touch with the American people so fast?

  • @MISSBEBEBLUE

He was never in touch to begin with. Obama always was a big info commercial.

  • Obama = Epic Fail.

  • So ture. i wish he'd get amove on. i'm having trouble backing him

  • We need to remember who stood in the way of real health care reform and vote accordingly in the future. All the republicans a handful of dems and Joe Lieberman are a disgrace.

  • The Rockefeller's (ROTHSCHILD'S agents) own a big piece of the American HEALTH CARE and PHARMA industries and it's VERY profitable. They like it that way. They also own just about every politician in Washington with their political contributions and recruiting including Obama. Things only change when the ROTHSCHILD'S want them to. Ever wonder why Israel can do no wrong or why we're still going strong in Iraq and Afghanistan? They own a big piece of the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX juiced by 9/11.
