  • @hidden fly not another rude boorish person!!!

  • Ass ass ass ass ass ass ass stop not another fucking Chinese bitch!

  • Her voice and her english sounds so much like my 40 something year old cousin who came to Canada around 10 years old.

Living in North America, I take for granted that many of us Asians being 2nd, 3rd etc generation speak perfect english. It totally throws me seeing her and Corina Chamberlain speaking perfect Cantonese on youtube. Just weird.

  • She is Cantonese.. She speaks it better than me though I am 100% Cantonese.

  • 天啊,这是在香港长大的吧?国语都这么标准

  • Her English has a chinese accent to it

  • she's first cantonese, then mandarin, then english...

  • @kellyleungki no u wrong, mandarin got accent

  • yes chinese may be a difficult language for some to learn, but everyone's learnig potential is different depending on a lot of factors such as desire, educational background, heriditary, surounding environment (friends or others that might encourage or help u to learn), of course natural God given talent, etc.

a foreigner with a powerful chinese computer dictionary can pick up many new words from newspaper or other literary sources. the best is a never say quit attitude even making mistakes.

  • I love that she's a native Cantonese speaker. You can hear the Cantonese accent in her Mandarin as well.

  • HOLY SHIET~ but dang i thought this was sharon chan. though this is just as awesome. im real impressed. good job!

  • holy shit she can't speak english. Was she like born and raised in china or something. Her chinese seems like her first language.

  • @Vincenthusky she has spent most of her life in Hong Kong and Macau and holds a HK passport (now PRC of course). If she went to the US or UK she'd be as tourist tongue-tied as any Chinese person, I guess.

  • FOB english accent LOL mega fail.

  • there is no such things as easy or difficult, it is relative to the person learning the subject, for example some concepts in organic chemistry may be very hard for me to grasp but for someone from a prestigeous high school or college, it may be relatively simple. nothing is easy or hard, depends alot on background training, childhood rearing, support from friends/family, genetics, strong desire to learn, etc. God blesses her with talents and she is using them.

  • that is a strange english accent coming from a caucasian. pretty cool though.

  • one word to describe her - BRILLIANT!

  • why are people so impressed because she happens to be white and speaks fluent mandarin, cantonese, etc. if a person put their mind and effort, they can achieve many things and it helps to have a good ear for distinguishing the various tones of the cantonese dialect. are u impressed when chinese people speaks fluent english? don't give me the excuse chinese is a much harder language to learn.

  • @wangtub43 English isn't a tonal language, canto and mandarin are tonal and difficult for foreigners to learn, not to mention reading and writing

  • @wangtub43 well when a native in a country where english isn't the official language, and isn't widely spoken, (e.g. CHINA,) i'd be amazed. (mind you i'm chinese.)

    '

  • her English accent is fine. She has a few grammatical errors.

  • she tries 2 use american accent but kinda fails

  • I think, God will use Sharon greatly to establish His Kingdom. She is gifted in many ways.

  • Some people are simply narrow minded...She's a Caucasian but it doesn't mean she's English or American =.=

  • She has a lilt to her American english

  • Haha there are people who can speak 4 languages fluently too - The malaysian chinese :D

  • wow she's perfect....god bless her

  • NICE..........

  • wow.....so good!!

  • at least I feel that her mandarin sound rather Canton, she lack the tone of the mainlander. But above all she speak Cantonese more fluently than she speak english and mandarin

  • Her Mandarin, English and Cantonese are all absolutely perfect.

  • Why are they always Christian?

  • @extrekkie13 cuz she is white?

  • Hi Sharon, I hope you'll read this. I am amazed and awed in many ways. I see the Lord is working through you. Culturally I am somewhat your counterpart here in the US. A string of miracles also happened in my life. Yes He is among us every moment. I hold deep admiration for what you and your family do in the name of the Lord, especially your father. Please give him my regards. God Bless. -Paul

  • her mandarin have canto accent ...just same as mine...haha....it is difficult to speak beijing tone mandarin....haha....

  • It does not matter if she is caucasian or asian, Sharon is very talented in language skills. I bet if she wants, she can learn and speak French or Italian just as fluently.

  • Comment removed

  • She spoke cantonese instead of madarin at the end.

  • Lol her cantonese accent is so strong even in Mandarin ahahah, i'm not a native mandarin speaker but she sounds like a real hong konger trying to speak mandarin!

  • Holy cow, I would die to be able to speak Mandarin or Canto fluently, as well as my native english.. but all THREE?!

    She's on the ball.

  • @lastplacewin i think its actually pretty common for ppl to speak 3 languages fluently without accent at all. Many ppl migrate from hong kong or taiwan at young age (8 or 9 yrso) and can speak canton/taiwanese + mandarin as well as english. I'm one of those ppl and now i'm trying to learn un poco de espanol!!! learning languages is fun :)

  • @IggyPiggy23 I can distinguish the difference canto/taiwanese and mandarin, but most white people can't so I think that's a good start lol.

  • @lastplacewin great! don't give up.. i know it can feel like a grind sometimes X_X

  • She is most comfortable in canto though ....... I would say for her canto is her first langguage ..... think her inner thoughts are in canto too !!!

  • It's no surprise. Come on! A lot of us whites can speak Mandarin!

  • Lol, I can hear the Cantonese accent in her English. But she's so pro nevertheless.

  • cooooollllll, 3 languages at the same time, but anyways, I can do that too, but I am a chinese

  • her english has a chinese accent

  • that's simply amazing... i love the fact her mandarin has a cantonese accent! awesome :)

  • hasn't this girls mandarin got a cantonese accent???

  • Wow Sharon, you speak very good Cantonese and Mandarin, and of course, English. I would say your Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin) is much better than a lot of Chinese. Amazing.

  • native Cantonese

    Mandarin with Canto accent

I don't detect Canto accent in her English...

  • it is very essential to speak in 3 kinds of language - donation raising

  • I wonder what types of food she enjoys more?

  • Very cool. Her English is native fluent, too.

  • wow, so when she speaks mandarin and english she got a cantonese accent lol

  • @Jin199132 That's because she is a native Cantonese speaker; she just happens to be not Asian but Caucasian (her parents were missionaries). It is no different when a person of Asian descent is born in a country other their ancestral homeland and learns the native language there, e.g. Asians growing up in the U.S. and speaking English.

  • Sharon would be the best representative of a beautiful woman from Hong Kong. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin so fluently. Her Cantonese is so perfect, so Hong Kong !!! Amazing !!!

  • Her English has a heavy cantonese accent for a caucasian.

  • @XieTianXieDi888 because she spent her life in Hong Kong

  • @XieTianXieDi888 really, sound normal to me ... I think i need to listen intensively

  • @XieTianXieDi888

This is not true, her English accent is American

  • @XieTianXieDi888 No, that is exaggerating and untrue... Have you been to America?

  • @XieTianXieDi888 it's not that heavy, but there is some hint of it. what is more evident is the grammatical errors

  • @XieTianXieDi888 it's not that heavy, but there is some hint of it. what is more evident are the grammatical errors

  • Comment removed

  • @XieTianXieDi888 I'm a native English speaker and I listen to cantonese and mandarin accents all day. Her accent when speaking English does not sound cantonese. She sounds more Portuguese than anything.

  • Oh ok cool. I saw his video. I'm going to China in a few months for school,I'm just typing in random stuff, but I'm glad I found them, they are great!!

  • Man! This girl can not only speak the language but she's got the accent going on!

You cannot tell this girl's a westerner if you're just listening to her on the speakers. I wonder if she speaks other Chinese dialects?

    Wow! Two thumbs up!!! Amazing!!!

  • She is amazing.

Technically she is not a Westerner.

Her dad moved over to China and she is the daughter, I forgot his name. I want to say David Balcombe, not sure...

But she lives in China with her family.

  • Her father is Pastor Dennis Balcombe. There is a Youtube video of him.

  • wow....respect for this girl

    where she from?

  • The woman was born in HK. she is from an American missionary family.

Google her father's name, Dennis Balcombe and you'll find her father's church web page with full bio of the family.

  • OMG!!!

  • haha, she has an asian accent when she speaks english, that was surprising.

  • Actually her accent and intonation patterns in English show that she has had more exposure to native English speakers than most HK natives. This is illustrated by here question tones when she asks, "Is there anyone? Anyone?").

  • I would say she's more fluent in Cantonese than the other two, esp. Mandarin. Still, perfect Cantonese by a Caucasian is pretty impressive...

  • This is Christian propaganda!

  • awesome, her Cantoness is perfect, surprise, surprise!!

    藏龙卧虎阿!!

  • Wonderful,foreigners native chinese speaking

  • A white woman with perfect Cantonese, Mandarin, and English FOB accent. This is seriously intense.

  • Agreed. took words out of my mouth!

  • I totally LOLed at your comment, omg. hahah

  • The perfect Canto and Mandarin was impressive, but the FOB English blew my mind away. My eyes and ears had never disagreed so much before.

  • it is always easier for cantonese speakers to learn mandarin than the other way around, so it really isn't a surprise that she also knows mandarin since cantonese is her native tongue. her english is a little FOB-y but that's to be expected since she and her family only visits america once every 3 years or so.

  • she speaks canto and mando amazing

  • Brilliant! Did Sharon grow up in Hong Kong?

  • Sharon, you are awesome! I'm very touched by your commitment to preaching the Gospel to Chinese, not only in HK but also in China. May God bless you always!

  • Her English is all over the place, but is easily understandable. I still give her credit. Three languages! That's 2 more than me :(

  • haha she's so cool

  • Her English has a Chinese fob accent. And her Cantonese is perfect.

  • The charisma was gone as she started talking about consecration lol

  • LOL her Cantonese is perfect but her English has an accent

  • very native hk person... =]

  • Isn't this Mandarin, not Cantonese?

  • She first spoke Mandarin, then Cantonese, then English. Her cantonese is native and perfect. Her mandarin is native but with cantonese accent. Her spoke English with cantonese accent. She is as Chinese as any one of the 1.3 billion Chinese.

  • @andoruJapan she speaks both, mainly cantonese

  • wow her Cantonese is better than her English! that's weird, I'd expect her to be extremely fluent in English

  • "Even though you might not come here the first time, but God bless you."

classic Chinese grammar. i love it.

  • lol, her cantonese is way more fluent than the english.thats messed up.

  • wow the cantonese is perfect...

    lol "NICCAM"

and lol she speaks english with a canto accent as pointed out by strawberrycram and moonheart!

  • Her Father is Dennis Balcombe his is a missionary in China. He's also on youtube

  • i impress!!!

  • OH thats so cool xD she has a canto accent speaking english

  • omg!! you're right! lol

  • very HKish, on the phone people might never be able to tell!

  • She is so sweet. I love you, Love her, love her.

  • why should a proud good old yankie wants to speak like a honkie?

  • Because sooner or later, Chinese will be the 2nd or 3rd prominent language spoken throughout the world. If you can't catch up, then have your trailer and shotguns ready, and move to the secluded mid-west where all the rednecks and hicks are, because the globalized world is not meant for you.

  • Does anyone know where her church is?

  • lol jesus people.

  • Wow!! I believe she has lived in HK all her life? Her accent, whether in Engliah, Mandarin and Cantonese is just like every Hong Kong people...

  • her english sounds fobby haha

  • yea i noe wtf???

  • No, her Mandarin has a Taiwanese accent. Her Cantonese does, too.

  • What Cantonese with a Taiwan accent? I have never heard a Honkie with a Taiwan accent except those starlets from Shaw Brothers days.

  • Her Cantonese is perfect.

  • damn! amazing! too bad she is a bible thumper.

  • Hahaha, this is awesome! She can do Mandarin AND English pretty well, although both with a little Cantonese accent, but still good! :D

  • heheh her mandarin has a cantonese sound to it~ thats so cute!!!

  • Wow, Cantonese and Mandarin!

  • Good grief, her English needs to be polished, perhaps speaking too much Canto and PTH

  • Haha that's true, sometimes it seems weird for an ethically western person to have a slight chinese accent. There is certainly an identity crash

  • Nice! What woman speaking my language fluently. What a turn-on!

  • It was strange, yet enlightening, to hear her communicate in Chinese but it was more strange to realise her english sounded like a Chinese person speaking english.

  • Her English have a chinese accent... mind.. can't... comprehend...

  • her cantonese is so good, better than mandarin.

  • i think it's a combination of two effects... the smaller effect, her mind is still in chinese mode when she switches to english, debatable, but the larger effect, probably she wants to be understood and is avoiding making sounds that sound too english.

  • oh my god...her english have an accent.....

  • Whats funny is hearing a white woman speak english with a chinese accent.

  • What Chinese accent? Her English is perfect. Her Mandarian, however, has a touch of Canto accent

  • No, I agree, there is a slight chinese accent in her English... which is kinda strange.

  • ...... if u insist........

  • no really....she has a slight Chinese accent when she speaks in English. very slight but nonetheless noticeable.

however, both her mandarin and cantonese are many times more fluent than mine ^^;;.

  • Oh yes! Her english is perfect and last time I heard, pigs can fly!!

  • her english is more of an internation sorta english - still very good to my ears

  • Then you haven't seen much of the world.

  • come down people!this is a globalized world, especially for a rising China.sure what she does is very impressive, but we are gonna see more and more people can do the same thing as she does, just get use to it

  • "calm"

  • impossible! english, mandarin, cantonese, and a white woman? wow, what's her name? where did she born? china? ...... who can tell me

  • Sharon Balcome is born in Hong Kong and her mother tongue is Cantonese. There is more videos on Youtube

  • thanks, i can feel it out, cus her mand is not like really china ml style

  • fuck, she can speak mandarin and contonese better than me and im chinese...

  • she is a genius

  • wow tri-languages... like moi!!!!!!!

  • well i guess if you've spoken cantonese for your whole life, then your english won't be as great. people (including myself) expect caucasians to just automatically speak perfect english, with no accent whatsoever

  • 咩咩B-list名香港都着十教麻?

  • well yes, but it is difficult for many people

  • one half of me is saying wow.. but the other half of me is saying, what's the big fuss? she's born in HK, thus she can speak cantonese with a perfect native accent. i think anyone born anywhere can speak the language without imperfections. so you guys shouldn't give her that much credit, many american-born chinese w/ HK parents speak with perfect us accents. so it's not like it's something supernatural.

  • It's the same in Panama. The kids with Chinese parents from Hong Kong/Taiwan speak perfect Spanish, Chinese with a Spanish accent, and even speak English with a Spanish accent, if they can even speak English at all!

Anyway, I too don't see the HUGE fuss, it's just not as common. And sorry for those Caucasian parents in HK who put their kids in English international school, because they robbed their kids of an opportunity to learn Cantonese and really belong in HK.

  • precisely because it's no longer british..

  • check your grammar (and your mirror).

  • 她的汉语不错呀! ~ 真神奇啊!

  • 好羨慕。。。神真係祝福呀Sharon 識講三個言語

  • English pronounciation is good and there is no Chinese accent. Due to the fact Cantonese is her first language, therefore, she speaks with a cantonese tone. Her rhythm, pitch are very cantonese.

  • Exquisite!!

  • she has a cantonese accent when speaking both english and mandarin, lol. she's awesome though

  • shiz, she even has a chinese accent when speaking english....ahh freaky!

  • and a cantonese accent when she speaks mandarin!

  • NICAM is so early 90s! lol

  • did she say 'nicam'? lol

  • holy crap!!!!!!!!!!! she's 100% hk

  • U r awesome---just luv ur cantonese--i'm a non chinese but can speak mandarin-wonder where r u from-??

  • I think her parents are form the States but she's from Hong Kong.

  • Uh, there isn't any sound on my computer.

  • haha, that was awesome watching her speak english. She has the most tiniest of a chinese accent when she speaks ENglish. But her cantonese is so perfect, really unique. And she seems like a great person

  • i know!

  • It's kinda weird to hear a white person speaking English with a bit of a Chinese accent.
