Looks like you could do with some HVDs (Holographic Versatile Discs) in your list of equipment. I've heard they're $11,000 to make and the discs cost $200-300 a pop.
wow, the hld-x0. if i could find one, and afford one, i'd buy it without hesitation. how does a muse hi-vision laserdisc compare to a properly upscaled dvd?
The MUSE HDTV system offers a resolution of 1035 x 960i30. So in comparison to the 720 x 480i30 DVD, the images are noticeably superior, as is the sound which is analog 4.1. So many great films (Lawrence of Arabia, Back to The Future) are only available in HD on MUSE Hi-Vision LaserDiscs, never having been released on D-VHS, BluRay, or HD-DVD.
However, this is an early analog HDTV system and has some limitations . . .
Stationary images are recorded & transmitted at full resolution. However, MUSE selectively lowers the horizontal and vertical resolution of any material that varies greatly from frame to frame. Moving images, therefore, are blurred. And in fact, whole-camera pans can appear to lose up to 50% of horizontal resolution = 480i.
But given that MUSE Hi-Vision HDTV has been available since 1995, it is easy to enjoy as one of the many fine high resolution formats available to me, here at Kipnis Studios
I beleive that the HD Format wars wouldnt have happened had we Adopted that technology and HD DVD and Blu ray even if they existed probaly would STILL have been Made and we wouldnt have had this widescreen and full screen DVD shit too.
