@Halofreakanoid correction. they were used by infantry, but they also were used by cavalry for quite some time, until after the First Crusade, when knights began to realize that a smaller shield was preferable to use on horseback, less tiresome to use, and easier to maneuver.

@maiabh Once armor, specially steel armor, began to become more common, weapons changed to meet it. Many swords became broad and heavy more for shock and crush damage. Also weapons like bills, picks, and crossbows became more common. Most often though you would tire and do shock damage to an enemy and then when he is too weak to defend himself use a small spike like dagger to pierce the armor. Although full suits were not that common as the cost was very high.

@ignacev8x I think in medieval times, with the reconaissance technology of the epoch, it was rather easy to commit a big mistake in battle. We're talking about this fool cavalry charge cause we're the players of the game, we see it from high (literally); now imagine a captain giving orders in the heat of a battle, trying to win and to not get killed. Only good-excellent generals could prevent any bigger trouble from happening. Alas... I agree with you. HE CHARGED HIS CAVALRY AGAINST SPEARMEN!!!

Hmmm think of Agincourt where thousands upon thousands of french knight were cut down by english longbowmen. In Crecy, the English army could fire up to 40,000 arrows at the french in a minute, they french never had a chance against the military superpower England was and still is >:)
