This song would be FAR better if someone had taken the drummer off whatever upper he was on. The rock drum beat is completely out of place in this tune. Richard Rogers probably puked at hearing this. Despite that Jay does his usual great job, it's a pity he can't redo it.
For some reason, it was never placed on an album. Release in Mar '68 as a single and didn't chart. Billboard Magazine gave rave reviews and thought it to be a huge hit for JATA's. I also have "Early Amer. Hits" which is just a compilation of singles and album fillers.
Naturally, can't find any source to back me up re the title being "(There's) No Other Love" - looking at the photo of the 45 it's definitely "No Other Love" - thus can only conclude I added "There's" simply to help my anticipated failing memory!...
I only heard this 2 or 3 times when it came out, on WHYN Springfield MA - if I'm not mistaken, title was officially "(There's) No Other Love" - reason I remember is because at the time, I knew it wasn't going to be a hit and that if I ever wanted to hear it again one day WAY in the future (like 2008 LOL!), I'd need some catchy way to remember the title - it struck me that the title partially parroted the Crystals' "There's No Other". That's how I always remembered this song - thanks 4 posting!

I'd agree ... it's the arrangement, Jay has been an underutilized talent. His voice is striking ... and he holds, consistently.

Here is a song that gives Jay good opportunity to show his range and dynamic voice with his good resonance and vibrato. He does it well, as usual.
I'm thinking a different arrangement might have gotten it up farther on the charts.
